- I was given a segmented bowl blank to turn a Beads of Courage box. So I did. If you find my videos helpful, you can buy me a virtual cup of coffee with this link. www.buymeacoffee.com/mikepeace3Y

Mike, as a person who does a lot of Beads of Courage boxes, I appreciate your making a quality box from less than perfect segmented rings. Can you imagine how excited a child will be receiving this box, and the child’s parents can even watch how it was turned?
Thanks for doing a video about making a box for Beads of Courage it’s such a great organization. And I’m sure someone is going to love that box.
Thank you so much!
Your bravery on this project astounds me. It’s not that I don’t trust other people’s work, but you didn’t glue that up! Cheers to you for having big balls of steel! I’m super impressed! Keep up the awesome content.
Thank you! 😊 You get it.
Congratulations on your first segmented turning. Well somewhat yours as someone else glued it up.🙂 Thank you for sharing with us. Beads of Courage is such a worthwhile project. More turners should get involved. I am just getting started myself. Take care and have a great day.🙂🙂
Yes! Thank you!
I like this channel I have learned lots watching and tried some of it . I have glued some things together and this is good
Beautiful Mike.
I really enjoy your videos. Surprised at how nervous and unfocused you seemed at doing this project.
I was. I did not glue up the blank and I was turning something new I had not turned before.
looks great mike,,,im going to have to try and make me one like you did,,i have the supernova chuck with the quick changing jaws and i cant begin to tell you how much i like it,,i didnt know if you had one or ever tried one,,,everytime i hear the word georgia i think of you,,take care my friend and god bless
No, I just have lots of chuck - 9
Thanks, Mike!
You bet!
Very nice, another great information video. thanks
So nice of you
Whoever glued that up handicapped you pretty badly. The nice thing about segmented turning is that you can turn the bottom and inside wall when you only have 2 rings glued on. It's easy to reach then. Add 2 or 3 more rings, turn, and sand that part. Rinse and repeat until it's done or the wall starts to close in like a traditional hollowform. If that happens, start gluing, turning, sanding, and finishing from the top. When both both bowl shapes are finished inside, glue them together then turn, sand, and finish the outside. All of the interest of a hollowform and none of the pain.
Hear, hear. Bernard.
Yep, gluing rings as you go would be the way.
What is that sanding tool called it looks very useful!
It is called an inertia sander. This one was from Woodturners Wonders.
Thank you for insulting thousands of turners who create beautiful pieces of art.
Surely you jest. How did you get that from me stating I did not not want to spend 90% of MY time g preparing a blank and 10% turning? If you say you do not enjoy turning boxes, I do not take that to mean you are insulting every turner who does. You turn what you enjoy and have fun.
