Thanks 👍 it was a long four days away. But I am back now! And it feels good to be home again.
I remember missing my mother just like this on my first day of preschool at age five-and-a-half and that was for just three hours (which at the time was the longest I was away from her). After that it started to get easier. By first grade (over a year later) I was ready to be away from my mother for six hours (or slightly longer).
In other words these things take time but eventually they get easier.
Simon is much better at putting on sandals than I was a his age. I was a couple of years older (around kindergarten age) before I could do that all by myself.
Also it looks like Simon might be jealous of Benson and his other siblings.

When I was first learning to talk, every adult was "mama". My dad left on a trip and called home one night, and my mom put me on the phone. As soon as I heard his voice I said "dada!", which was the first time I'd ever used that word.
I don't really remember any extended separation from my mom before she went to visit my maternal grandparents when my grandma developed terminal brain cancer. By that point I was in second grade and knew what was going on.

It is so great that Simon can miss his mommy. This is difficult in the relationship with a level 3 ASD child. There is no emotional connection.
Yeah, it is definitely different, as you can see the difference between Ezra and Simon when they meet. Although, I believe Ezra was very excited as well, just not in the traditional way we expect.
It is difficult to see the connection most of the time. But after words, later that day, Ezra did take my hand and choose to sit in my lap. I think he noticed I had been gone and was glad I was back. He just shows his connection differently.

Distraction will be the key, in theses modern days, maybe she can do some skype calls or with facebook messenger. I had my parents leave me and my brother on a few occasion when I was growing up, I had a blast of fun time at my grandparents 1 summer in 1987 (I was 7 at that time), and for 2 months in winter of 1990, my parents went on a special cruise over the world. My brother didn't take it as well, being 2 yrs younger than me, it was a challenge but we survived with doing stuff that my parents wouldn't let us do normally, special activities, we visited a zoo, we had a blast at an indoor water park (we went to the West Edmonton Mall by train from Halifax it was an awesome experience)

It is a bit surprising, though that they don’t seem to have any good online video courses on this yet. It seems like they have good (or at least decent) online video courses for almost everything else.

I wouldn’t miss my mom very much. Maybe I would miss my dad. I love him more than her because he and I are both men.
I used to want to do everything my dad did. Sometimes I did get to do those things. But sometimes I wasn’t allowed to do them. Some of them were too dangerous for me because I was too little. And some of them were private.
