- Welcome back to the show!
My guest is Mama RN, a Filipina nurse working in a skilled nursing facility based in Indiana. You guys know here if you like to binge watch videos about life of Filipino nurses in the US.
To all those nurses not currently practicing bedside nursing who will be assigned in SNF, you guys have to watch this. On this video, we talk all about SNF: the different areas, nurse: patient ratio, salary, advantages, typical day at work and other nsg related stuff.
Let's watch and listen to what Mama Rn has to share!

Hoping, Praying and Manifesting na maging okay ang American Journey ko with my husband. Sana makapag interview ka Nurse Photographer ng Nurse working in North Carolina. CORRECTION MALI NA NAMAN SI MADAM RN. MAS MATAAS ANG HOSPITAL AT DEPENDE KUNG SAAN KANG STATE, ANONG HOSPITAL AT ANONG CITY. HERE'S THE REASON.
1. MARAMING ACUTE SETTING ANG HOSPITAL. MAY ICU, MAY PACU, MAY NICU, MAY OB/MATERNITY & DELIVERY, MAY PEDS, MAY ER , MAY TELEMETRY, MAY MED SURGE. HINDI BIRO ANG PER HR RATE KUNG MA ASSIGN ANG ISANG NURSE SA ICU, OB/DELIVERY, OR (OPERATING ROOM ) KOMPARA SA SNF OR SKILLED NURSING, KAYA BS AT WAG KANG MANIWALA PAG SINASABI NILA NA MATAAS ANG RATE NG SNF. GENEROUS MAG BIGAY ANG HOSPITAL NG NIGHT SHIFT DIFFERENTIAL AT WEEKEND DIFFERENTIAL COMPARE SA SKILLED NURSING HOME OR SNF NA WALA NAMANG IBAT IBANG UNIT EXPERTISE. SA SNF, POST ACUTE CARE PATIENT YUNG NASA SKILLED FLOOR, HINDI TULAD NG HOSPITAL NA MAY KANYA KANYANG FIELD OF EXPERT THEREFORE COMPENSATED ANG ISANG NURSE NG ICU, NICU, OR EVEN ER. KAYA MAGANDA ANG HOSPITAL KASI MARAMI KANG BACKUP SUPPORT IN CASE OF EMERGENCY. TATAWAG KA NG RAPID RESPONSE TEAM PAG MAY CRITICAL PATIENT KA AT PWEDI NILANG ILIPAT SA ICU ANG PASYENTE, MAY DOCTOR PALAGI SA HOSPITAL LALO NA SA ER. MAY AGARAN KANG LAB AT IMAGING KUNG MAY ORDER NG LAB. NANDYAN NA SA HOSPITAL ANG X-RAY, CT, MRI, MGA RESPIRATORY THERAPY MAS MADALING MAKIPAG COORDINATE SA TEAMS OF MEDICAL PERSONNEL. SA SNF MINSAN 2 WEEKS NA WALANG DOCTOR NA BUMIBISITA, LAGI LANG TATAWAG ANG NURSE SA DOCTOR FOR URGENT MATTER KAYA ADVANTAGE ANG HOSPITAL.
Nice to see you both
Heyaa Gelo and Brens! Thank you for watching! 😀
@@NursePhotographer naliwanagan na po ako about Skilled Nursing Facility. Follower din po ako ni Mama RN. Thank you very much for this video 😀
@@brensgelo im happy to know that! Ako rin nung una dami ko tanong about snf and wala masyado nag shshare 😂
@@NursePhotographer sana po magkaroon din kayo ng vlog about a nurse in the US working in ICU or any area sa hospital.
God bless po and more power 👍🙏
@@brensgelo sige mag hahanap ako. 😀 sana pumayag 😎
May babayaran po ba SA PRS?

Hello Mimi! Thanks for the support!
Yan nga e income of d corporation vs. quality of care, kkainis!
Ang snf po ba is hospital din?
Ibang ba. A skilled nursing facility is an in-patient rehabilitation and medical treatment center staffed with trained medical professionals.
Google ko lang.
I've worked in UK b4 sa SNF din, grabe patient ratio as in 1:40 mnsan aabot p ng 60. Ganun sñyu mama rn?
Grabe parang talo pa pinas nyan ah. Hindi makatao 😂
Sir, saang BPO company po kayo nagwowork? Pa-timbre naman 🙂
Nako sir mababa samin. Hanap ka sa iba na mataas offer! Tip: don't go lower than 60k.
@@NursePhotographer Oke sir. Salamat sa tip. Kakapasa ko lang kasi nung end of Nov. Apply apply pa siguro. TY sir!
I beg to disagree tungkol sa tip sa restaurant, pg wla kmi cash dollar e di wala kmi tip hindi nman mandatory. Sometimes if kung mgkano lng meron sa bulsa like $3, 2, 4, 5 ok n yun at least meron. Normally ang tip is 10% sa total.
Thank you for letting us know! Hindi naman po sila nagagalit pag 2 dollars lang ang tip?
@@NursePhotographer hindi ahh maski wla ok nman, eh panu kung wala nman tlga.
@@mamalouparker7880 thank you! Saang state po kayo?
@@NursePhotographer sa MS ako yun nag pm sau about sa anak ko Nurse n nandito sa US bale naghhintay nlng sya ng Green card nakakuha cya ng direct hire sponsor.
@@mamalouparker7880 oh yes i remember you po. wow! congrats po! bilis rin ah 😊
I CANT HELP BUT TO CORRECT MADAM RN. SORRY BUT SINCE SHE'S A NEW & ONLY BEEN A YEAR AS A NURSE IN THE U.S, SHE GAVE A LOT OF INCORRECT, MISINFORMATION TO THE HOST. A LITTLE BIT OF BACKGROUND OF MYSELF SINCE NAKIKISAWSAW AKO SA TOPIC, IVE BEEN IN HEALTH CARE INDUSTRY FOR 17 YRS, I STARTED AS A MEDICAL RECORD TECHNICIAN, BECAME A CAREGIVER, HOUSEKEEPER IN A LONG TERM CARE, WENT TO SCHOOL FOR CNA ( CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT ) THEN WENT TO SCHOOL FOR NURSING HERE IN THE U.S THAT'S WHY I AM FAMILIAR WITH THE TOPICS I'M GETTING INTO.
SPEAKING OF RATE OR WAGES PER HOUR MALI HINDI PARE-PAREHO ANG RATE NG NURSES. IT DOESN'T MATTER WHICH UNIT YOU WERE ASSIGNED. THE WAGES IS DEPEND ON NURSES EXPERIENCE. SINCE MADAM RN IS WORK VISA ANG ENTRY NYA SA U.S, MABABA ANG RATE NYA KOMPARA SA MGA TAGA U.S AT IMMIGRANT NA NURSES. NEW RN GRADUATE WITHOUT EXPERIENCE IS LOW COMPARE SA RN NA MAY 2-5 YRS EXPERIENCE, GANUN DIN ANG 3 YRS EXPERIENCE NA NURSE, MAS MABABA ANG RATE NYA KUNG MAY MAG A-APPLY NA RN NA 17 YRS OF EXPERIENCE. LICENSE PRACTICAL NURSE WHO WORKED FOR 6 YRS MAS MATAAS ANG RATE NILA KOMPARA SA RN NA NEW GRAD BUT MAYBE JUST $3-4 DOLLARS PER HR LANG ANG DIFFERENCE. KAYA HINDI NYA PWEDING SABIHIN NA PARE-PAREHO ANG RATE KASI IT IS BASE ON THE LENGTH OF EXPERIENCE. WHAT SHE SAID IS NOT TRUE, HOW DOES SHE KNOWS OTHER NURSES PER HR? DONT TELL ME THE HR TOLD HER. MAY CONFIDENTIALITY DITO.
I know n considered as new grad ang mga may experience na nurses s pinas pagdating sa us in terms of skills pero sa salary sometimes my facility n nagcoconsider ng years of experience, my mga nurses from Known hospital dito s metro manila na ang gamit s pinas ay kaya ng sumabay din s US.
@@chel1950 Sorry to blow your bubbles my dear, her experience in Pinas is NOT in bedside, I watched one of her videos ranting about people belittling nurses from PI like her who does not have an actual bedside experience other than a customer service/call center, BPO ika nga. Just an FYI just because you're a BSN/NURSE who has a call center experience in PI that does not mean that you're a one size fits all in terms of nursing industry. During an interview, they will ask you a specific questions such skills, management, behavioral, etc. and that skills will determines your wages or per hr. ok? For instance, you are a Nurse in the philippines who never work at the hospital because you don't have money to pay for internship, instead you became a call center agent for 3 yrs of experience, NOW TELL ME, WITH THAT EXPERIENCE, AS A CALL CENTER AGENT NURSE, PAANO MO AKO MA CONVINCE AS YOUR EMPLOYER TO PAY YOU $40.00 PER HR IF YOU NEVER WORK IN TELEMETRY? NO EXPERIENCE IN ADMISSION, BLOOD TRANSFUSION, BEHAVIORAL DEMENTIA PATIENT, DIALYSIS PATIENT, TRACH/INTUBATED PATIENT? IN OTHER WORDS, HER EXPERIENCE IN PI DOES NOT COUNT, BECAUSE IT'S NOT A BEDSIDE THEREFORE IT WILL AFFECT SA PER HR NA BAYAD.
SPEAKING OF GOOD HOSPITAL IN MANILA NA KAYANG MAKIPAG SABAYAN SA TECHNOLOGY SA IBANG BANSA, I RESPECT YOUR OPINION, PERO KUNG TOTOO MAN, WALA NA SANANG MGA MAYAYAMAN AT PULITIKO NA NANGINGIBANG BANSA PARA MAG PAGAMOT. IF EVER THERE'S SOME CELEBRITIES WHO CHOSE OUR HOSPITAL IN MANILA MAYBE BECAUSE OF PRACTICALITY, WE ALL KNOW NA MAHAL MAG PAGAMOT SA IBANG BANSA.
@@filmmakerwannabe2274 Meron siang Hospital experience kasabay ng bpo, another thing, wala aq napansin na nag belittle ng kapwa nurses s mga video niya, pangatlo ang tinutukoy mo na mga pulitiko ay special cases and my choice nmn sila kng san gusto magpagamot rights nila un. Ang sinabi q po my mga hospital n s pinas n kaya mkpagsbyan s US.
ano ung naka bleep...hehehe
censored ha ha ha!
NAG KI CRINGE AKO KAY MADAM RN SA MGA PALIWANAG NYA, MOST OF THEM ARE HINDI ACCURATE, HINDI TOTOO. QMA IS A QUALIFIED CNA WHO TOOK A VERY SHORT COURSE MAYBE 5 DAYS OF COURSE ON HOW TO PASS MEDS THEN TOOK CERTIFICATION TO WORK AS A QMA PARA MAKAPAG PASA NG GAMOT. BUT NEVER EVER CAN QMA OR CNA CAN JUST TAKE AN EXAMINATION TO BECOME LPN OR LICENSE PRACTICAL NURSE. THE LPN OR PRACTICAL NURSE IS A NURSE PERIOD. THE PN NEEDS TO GO TO NURSING SCHOOL TO TAKES PEDS, MATERNITY, ANATOMY & PHYSIOLOGY, PHARMACOLOGY, PSYCHOLOGY/MENTAL HEALTH, MANAGEMENT AND ETHICS, NURSING FUNDAMENTALS, AND IT WILL TAKE 15 MONTHS TO 2 YRS THEN THEY NEED TO TAKE THE NCLEX AND PASSED SO THEY CAN PRACTICE NURSING. WHILE THE CNA IS A 5 MONTHS COURSE LANG NAG A-ASSIST SA NURSE, THEY'RE MORE FOCUS ON ADL'S OR ACTIVITY OF DAILY LIVING, WALA SILANG CLASS OR SUBJECT GAYA NG LPN'S SUBJECT KAYA HINDI SILA PWEDING MAG TAKE LANG NG TEST TO BECOME LPN. KILANGAN NG CNA NA MAG ENROLL SA NURSING SCHOOL AT I TAKE UP LAHAT NG SUBJECT NG LPN AT IPASA ANG NCLEX TO BECOME A LICENSE PRACTICAL NURSE. ANG LICENSE PRACTICAL NURSE KILANGAN MAG DAGDAG NG SUBJECT NG RN'S AT MORE CLINICAL TRAINING NG MGA 10 MONTHS TO 1 YR THEN MAG TAKE ULI NG NCLEX TO BECOME AN RN. QMA ARE ONLY ALLOWED TO GIVE MEDICATION IN A PILL FORMS. BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT NURSES, NO CRITICAL THINKING, NO NURSING JUDGEMENT, NO CLUE ABOUT THE DISEASE PROCESS, NURSING PROCESS, PATHOPHYSIOLOGY, NURSING INTERVENTIONS AND DRUG INTERACTIONS THEREFORE QMA CANNOT ADMINISTER SUBQ, IM, IV, EYE DROPS. IT'S AN RN'S DUTY TO SUPERVISE THEM.
