I would not say it's kids songs. He is political and questioning about society but he also have some of the funniest songs and some really wonderful ones that just breaks your heart. He was amazing with words and I love his voice and way of singing. Definately not kids or partymusic, quite dark lyrics in spite of the more happy latin style arrangement, perhaps these contrasts make the song even better. A great classic song.
I hav to recommend Jan Johansson- Visa från Utanmyra and/or Gånglek från Älvdalen... Im an avid Jazz-fan and I consider Jan to be one of the greatest jazz pianists internationally... He has such a personal tone and frasing.
Cornelis is not from Sweden but spending majority of his life here. What I can say about him is he are a true genius as a musician but also as master of the Swedish language 😉

You should listen to Visa från Utanmyra with Jan Johansson. Maybe not in a reaction video since it's an instrumental but as someone who likes jazz living in sweden (at least you mentioned buying jazz records on amazon in AMK the other day, haha). Perfect relaxing song.

Cornelis is pretty much our Bob Marley. Very important songs. You should react to Ulf Lundell with Öppna Landskap. That song describes the soul of a swede perfectly. There was even a pertition to make that song our national anthem.

So he became Personal Persson (Personliga Persson). “Our” Dutch giant Cornelis learnt much of his guitar techniques from listening to Leadbelly, btw...

Late comment, but some additional context. You're not entirely off about hearing a Spanish influence - Cornelis wrote it in Brazil, after he saw the street kids running around without shoes. However, the tune is Scottish, and originally known as "The Daemon Lover" (or "The House Carpenter"). His new lyrics are however entirely different from the English lyrics.
I think it is ”Personliga Persson”, personal Persson. Persson is a common last name in Sweden, meaning Per's son (and Per is of course a common Swedish first name). So someone called Persson who is a personal guy. Something like that, anyway.
It is strange how someone who was not born here can characterize the Swedish people's soul as Cornelius does. The black humor and undertone of the criticism of the establishment is wonderful.
My personal favorite with Cornelis is "Brev från kolonien". He had so many good songs but I really enjoy the story being told in that song and the way it brings on a laugh and a smile :)

It's actually a raditional ballad known by the name 'The House Carpenter'. Cornelis had done some modifications. If you are a fingerstyle guitarist you will also notice that the chord progression reminds alot from "the house of rising sun". Not that one done by Animals though, the one with Doc Watsson. Doc has also done a cover on "The House Carpenter". Anyway, huge respect to Cornelis. Cornelis mixed american blues, english traditional and some swedish folk music in a lot of his songs, and the results were amzing.

Two suggestions: Millas mirakel - Rytmen av ett regn. A catchy song from 1988(?). Lennart Hagvall - Det är så hälsosamt och stärkande i fjällen. From 1947:ish, but don't let that fool you. It's catchy, funny and quite daring for it's age.
Cornelis covered Bellman and Taube quite a bit. He had entire albums of their songs and some of his biggest hits are among them. He also renade and in some cases translated Victor Jara.
I have been watching a lot of this guys "reacts to" videos in a row.. and I am a BIT surprised that he has watched TWO Cornelis Vreeswijk songs, but NOT "Balladen om Fredrik åkare, och den söta Cecilia Lind"... Together with "Jag trivs bäst i öppna landskap" I'd say it's part of the Swedish Anthems.

Cornelis was a true genial artist - like Johnny Cash, Pete Seeger, Bob Dylan in one person - his texts are so dense with contrasts, irony, twists, and symbols, that only grown ups very aware of literary traditions and contemporary politics can fully understand them - not kids. Could you sing as satire: Gud Fader som i himmelen bor slumrar och sover sött; in the Bible Belt in the USA? - It was not possible in Sweden, either. Gustaf Fröding wrote: Strunt är strunt och snus är snus om än i gyllne dosor, men rosor i ett sprucket krus är ändå alltid rosor. Cornelis was a mocking rascal, a profound lyricist, a burlesque truth-teller, a critical analyst, a versatile musician, and his humour was a very sharp weapon. We were awed, many of us, that is. Do watch the film, do listen to all his music and pay attention to the clash between text and music and the references he makes both in texts and music, that's so many layered as Walt Whitman ever. We have three great "singer-songwriters": Bellman, Taube, and Vreeswijk. And many good ones, but not so complete, like Fröding, Dan Andersson, Ferlin - others wrote good music to their best poems.

If you are a fingerstyle guitarist you will also notice that the chord progression reminds alot from "the house of rising sun". Not that one done by Animals though, the one with Doc Watsson. Doc has also done a cover on "The House Carpenter".
Anyway, huge respect to Cornelis. Cornelis mixed american blues, english traditional and some swedish folk music in a lot of his songs, and the results were amzing.

Millas mirakel - Rytmen av ett regn. A catchy song from 1988(?).
Lennart Hagvall - Det är så hälsosamt och stärkande i fjällen. From 1947:ish, but don't let that fool you. It's catchy, funny and quite daring for it's age.
Cornelis hardly did any covers. He made it all by himself.
Cornelis covered Bellman and Taube quite a bit. He had entire albums of their songs and some of his biggest hits are among them. He also renade and in some cases translated Victor Jara.
I have been watching a lot of this guys "reacts to" videos in a row.. and I am a BIT surprised that he has watched TWO Cornelis Vreeswijk songs, but NOT "Balladen om Fredrik åkare, och den söta Cecilia Lind"... Together with "Jag trivs bäst i öppna landskap" I'd say it's part of the Swedish Anthems.

Cornelis was a true genial artist - like Johnny Cash, Pete Seeger, Bob Dylan in one person - his texts are so dense with contrasts, irony, twists, and symbols, that only grown ups very aware of literary traditions and contemporary politics can fully understand them - not kids. Could you sing as satire: Gud Fader som i himmelen bor slumrar och sover sött; in the Bible Belt in the USA? - It was not possible in Sweden, either.

Cornelis was a mocking rascal, a profound lyricist, a burlesque truth-teller, a critical analyst, a versatile musician, and his humour was a very sharp weapon. We were awed, many of us, that is. Do watch the film, do listen to all his music and pay attention to the clash between text and music and the references he makes both in texts and music, that's so many layered as Walt Whitman ever.
We have three great "singer-songwriters": Bellman, Taube, and Vreeswijk. And many good ones, but not so complete, like Fröding, Dan Andersson, Ferlin - others wrote good music to their best poems.

Also try out some of his renditions of Bellman, Swedens national poet and songwriter from the 18th century. You'd be surprised by the contents of those songs, sex and love and death and disease lots and lots of booze.
