Rigidity can pay off when used strategically. For example, if the ENTIRE car is super stuff you can gain an advantage from how much energy is returned back to the car from wall impacts. Softer cars absorb this and lose speed all time. (Think about how much slower the Sliding Damper usually is.)
Also when you are running higher powered cars and seeing CO over and over again you will break fewer parts if they are carbon.
