Every time a customer brings a PC into my shop, I run tests on the HDD/SSD. More then half the time I find failing drives when customers say their PC is slow. Good informational video Brian. Keep it up brother!

Good to see good old CMD at the end of the video! Introducing people to the command prompt will help them loads in the long run as they get more comfortable with it. Cheers!

The WD Dashboard featured is out of date! It's changed significantly in the latest version.
I've been using and building computers for 28 years, and I agree 100%. If a drive has any sort of problem, it's not worth risking your data on it! Drives are cheap. Data is valuable.
I'm unfamiliar with the concept of "data loss?" 🤣
I DON'T run backups any more, and my data has NEVER been so secure! Instead, I use Synchredible to create 5 copies of my data across various media (3 x HDD, 1 x SSD, and 1 x USB Flash Drive).
Data loss is nigh-on impossible, barring nuclear armageddon, or asteroid impact! 🤣
My data is "synced" (not backed up) weekly, on a 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 basis! Furthermore, whenever I leave my home, I carry two copies of my data with me! One of which is inside my key wallet on a Flash Drive!

Do you think you can do a video on how to move a program from one drive to another? I currently have a couple programs installed and I chose the option to have them installed on a drive other then my C drive. I did this because at the time I didn't have a ton of space on my C drive. But I just got a higher capacity drive 2 weeks ago and cloned my old C drive so now I'd like to move those programs over to the new C drive possibly without having to uninstall and reinstall the programs.

Yes I know Brian but Samsung (my preferred drives) in their wisdom have not made the NVMe drive I have in my main laptop non supported by their software and besides it is becoming ever more convoluted and hard to use. So there are options after all I'll give them a try mate great video by the way!!

Most people may be like me and install and then forget it, at least until they come across a video like this that reminds them. I usually don't check until I begin to have issues. I suspect that I need to be more alert. I have two non-Samsung drives in one PC and my other PC has a Samsung & a Corsair. It seems that I have to run software from each of these 4 drives sites in order to check them. A lot of work. Don't they make a universal program that check any drive?

Do you have any idea why there's a 30 second pause between my motherboard manufacturer and Windows 10 login screen? Started happening last week.

I just ran WD dashboard on a WD hhd that was not able to read half the files on it....dashboard showed drive was in tip top condition...no issues and in perfect good health.........CrystlDiskinfo however, showed the same drive as having multiple bad sectors !!!!!.....the drive is not reading files or accessing at all. So...just a warning that WD software is absolute rubbish and not to be trusted

WD Dashboard is fkn joke, and not a good one, 332MB for this is massive bloatware.!!! Would I suggest that you download it and use it if you think that you have a problem or need to update the firmware, yes, of course, whether you want to keep it installed is up to you, I have no personal experience with this, I am just astonished that their default HDD tool that they have used for years was 0.5MB, and the one witht he GUI was less than 10MB... What is the rest being used for.? Will it actually slow down a slow PC "if" it runs stuff in the background.? I do not know.! Would @Britec09 be willing to do a video comparing, contrasting, generally using and testing the various HDD/SSD test tool from their respective manufacturers, and in general.?
    .
AS an FYI, I used to use the "WD Lifeguard" test tool for years to test Seagate Drives because their test tool was total poo... Prior to that, for years I used to use the Seagate test tool to test WD drives because the WD test tool would give an "OK" result on a clicking, Floppy Disk kind of slow drive.!!! Some of this must come down to trust, and I have learned that the test tools can AND can not be trusted... ALWAYS have a backup, and ideally have a totally offsite backup (different house, fires and thefts happen), but also CHECK your backup by attempting to recover a file to see that you have access, and if you have encryption, read VERY carefully the information relating to that.
