As a not native English speaker, Gorillaz have some complicated lyrics for me to understand thanks to how 2-D sing, this type of videos really help me to enjoy a lot more the music.
same, especially with demon days. I could not make out what 2-D was singing in many songs, and everytime i checked the lyrics on the internet it said something different so i guess its not just because i'm not a native speaker
Fun fact: I started learning english because I wanted to understand Gorillaz's songs. Now, 13 years later, I can understand them pretty well (as well as english on itself).
I love everything about this song. Especially since the new theme of this phase has something to do with time - if you listen closely you hear a clock ticking. I love these details so flippin much.
The effects with the lyrics like having Murdoc's face fade in and out with the word "Cult" makes it it's own video to watch and not just a video for the lyrics. Bravo, Gorrillaz. Bravo.
I love this song, I never looked up the lyrics but just kept singing it. I'm so disappointed in myself cause I kept singing, "they taught themselves to be a COW" cause it stuck in my head and now I still can't unhear what I sang even now knowing the lyric is "occult" Edit and update: I went to the Gorillaz concert at the Chase Center in SF and got to hear him sing it live, and I still heard "A Cow!" Edit edit: knowing now that their lyric videos aren't always correct, It can be "A Cow!" if I dream it! \(^-^)/
Gorillaz is that band you’ll listen to as a little kid then forget then after years of trying to remember you finally fine then and there music is still amazing
This is literally what happened to me! I was 4 when I was first shown this band now I’m 21 and it’s a daily staple to listen to at least one of there songs! Now that I have re-discovered the band I can’t get enough I love them so much!
Bro... my first experience was Feel Good Inc. in like...2004? I loved it, forgot it, and only remembered it on a train ride home from DC with Melancholy Hill. That was 2017, I think
as a young teen , it’s crazy seeing all these older people talking about gorillaz being part of their childhood. i guess i’m gonna grow up saying this song brings so much nostalgia lololol. i love this band sm bro
same here! Hell my parents used to listen to melancholy hill all the time and i had no idea what Gorillaz even was back then. Feels weird getting into a fandom that's old enough that even my parents enjoy it lmao
I'm 13 and my parents are 48 and they listened to Gorillaz in college and now I'm listening to them, my Dad's favorite song is rhinestone eyes, he plays it all the time in car rides and I didn't even know it was a Gorillaz song until now
No se sabe si esta canción es parte de un álbum nuevo o si es parte de la película de Gorillaz que saldrá por Netflix. Aún no hay información. De seguro sacaran un soundtrack de la película, esperemos que sean todas canciones nuevas.
Actually the song ends with reverb trails of some synth and percussion... But the last thing said before the song's instrumental outro was "nothing more to say"
i genuinely love that gorillaz features so many black artists. i started listening to artists i had never heard of after hearing their features. every single artist gorillaz has ever featured is great and always deserves more listeners, even if they already have hundreds of thousands or millions.
I don't care about the skin colour of the artists, it's not like your skin gives you special musical powers haha. Gorillaz is a great project that allows artists to showcase their skills.
I love that Damon is singing with the bass line and Thundercat is singing with what at the beginning of the song sounds like keyboard, which I presume is contributed by Damon. It sounds amazing.
This is also speaking volumes on selling out to be in the Industry. "In the end i had to pay", 100% Facts, very fitting the setting of the video was in HOLLYWOOD, Jfc. I hear you Gorillaz, i hear you & see you.
Even though "Cracker Island" is the easiest Gorillaz song for me to understand in who knows how long, I still needed a lyric video like this. I never noticed the quick "Fantasies" or "Fantasy" lyrics in particular until right now! 😅
Saw this live in Dublin yesterday. It was amazing! Cracker Island is one of their best song yet, and it's ten million times better watching it live! We love you, Damon!
The song is about people who have ridiculous and dangerous ideas (Damon called out specifically the far right of US politics and Russia) creating an "island", i.e. an echo chamber, where they isolate themselves from other ideas and amplify their own until they're even more dangerous.
THATS IT! my favourite part of this song will always be “They taught themselves to be *OCCULT* ” …”They didn’t know it’s many strategies” “ *THEY TAUGHT THEMSELVES TO BE OCCULT* “ …”they didn’t know it’s many strategies”
I swear to god i can't ignore the clicks in the background....it sounds like a clock. the music is great with those clicks! it sounds like something is gonna happen when the ticks stop
Why do I feel like the line "it ate up their paradise" is referring to the time in the lore where the gasmask guy (can't remember his name) got the planes with guns to destroy the plastic beach.
The song is fire! The clip is simply gorgeous! I've been growing up with Gorillaz and listening to it for a very very long time, I just love this band and their songs! ♡ (translated from the translator, that's why it's so crooked) ^^ ♡

I do feel like the music starts pretty simple but them it elevates and more layers starts adding to the orchestra and the drumming gets pretty hectic

Hey no worries. I thought they were singing “I drank too much”
Bass riff is actually insane throughout the entire song
That's Thundercat for ya
I can’t get over this song, it’s addictive and it reminds me so much of their older music.
You got that right. I am hooked
Agreed! It truly feels like the older material that always had a catchy hook.
I love this slightly grainy, pink aesthetic, it's absolutely beautiful.
