That’s the best way I can describe this show.
too bad most of the positives come from actors and art team. The narrative.. oh boy
Though the negative outweight the positives.
They had great cast, good sfx and money.
But it all got squandered on terrible writing and amateurish direction.
It s like taking premium ingredients and cook them till burn. The end result is not balanced.
Worst thing is, they had everything. Story is already there. How can you fuck up. Just follow the fucking animation fans love. Why are you changing the order of story like it wouldn't matter. It is not like you signed up to do an original work, you suppose to adapt and follow the story already written. Fuck I am mad.
My least favourite thing was how I never felt for any of the bending arts. The original cartoon made me lose myself in it.

In that scene, yes. But literally 10 minutes later he was taking off from the ground and flying up.
@@Superkuh2you canstill see the air currents around him, Zaheer on the other hand was literally Supermaning it, like no need to bend the Air around him. I still don’t believe it has to be explained to people what flying really is, here, you see him drop on a building build up the air current and lift up again, heck, in the OG, Aang sneezed, and flew 10 feet or more in the air, and you all go in on this. I think the whole he’s flying saga is just because, y’all were dying to judge the show, you saw a little chance and went heck yeah.

that scene with Sozin offing that Earth Kingdom spy caught me off guard. in the og show, we don't really see fire bending being used to off people on screen. One of the positive things about this show.

Well I thought it was grisly, I didn't think it was that scary. Earthbener should've had broken or dislocated limbs to explain why he didn't try any last minute bending, or at least one to inhibit him. Then you could show him scrambling and trying to fight back, defend himself, or do anything before he gets immolated. I thought the on screen execution could've been improved.
It's actually the scene that essentially ruined my interest in the show, "because it is our time" is such a cringy line. The whole scene and show is just a giant exposition that started in ep1.
The writing was mid but the visuals and CGI were top tier, and your editing made everything 10x funnier 😭

Sadly I relate to this version more than OG. Everyone just seems too happy in the animation, while their parents were killed/missing and all of that.

I’m usually not a fan of most of this type of editing, but this is one of the best episode summaries from a fan ever. MORE!
The first time seeing Earthbending told me that the show was going to be action packed. One earthbender verses a squad of firebenders. I am pretty sure that Netflix started with that scene in order to show the fandom that they had mastered the art of bending.
I'm one of the few people who didn't like the bending at all. Hardly no martial artstry. The earth bending in the beginning didn't have the brute impact of the cartoon. The way firebenders use their open hands instead of closed fists is more resembling magic than bending. The fight between Gyatsu and Firelord Sozin had no style. Airbending had no style. Waterbending felt weak, specially in the Katara - Pakku fight.

No they started it like this because it's a Netflix show, so it has to start with a "cool action sequence!™" that also explains exactly what's gonna happen next. This series was so insufferable with how it spelled out every. Single. Plot point for the viewer, as of we were all morons

Yeah I mean they tried their best but the actors didn’t give much. The characters barely had a personality (in contrast with their actual selves in interviews). And also a lot of dialogue felt too rushed or too slow. But the visuals were great and appa was super cute

Im glad u were sensitive to the same bad sides as those that I noticed (Aang flying, without staff like he's Zaheer / and the terrible acting of Gyatso announcing Aang he's the avatar for me) despite how satisfying they made it visually

A lot of the cringe came from "tell not show". I get they are trying to appeal to non fans or first time viewer. This feels like first time filmmaker with big budget yet they have no skill or direction. @@adrianamontalvo7472 Exactly. It's not that different from Roku hovering over the ground with a mini tornado from his waist down, or Avatar State Aang flying with an air bubble around him in the series finale. Zaheer's flight is totally on a whole new level.

I find it funny how different it was that uncle iroh gets captured by the earth blenders in the live action and the original. In the live action it he was kind of goofy yet cool. He starts shooting fire everywhere so Zoku can escape. While in the original he was caught by the earth benders while he was chilling in a hot spring naked.

Aang does that "flying" in the og show. Its more like gliding with a lot less control. He just does it so casually in the og show, where as here its scene as incredible and him "showing off".
I haven't seen all of the show yet, but the way that just now showed Aang "flying" looked like what he does with his glider. The other stuff was him using his airbending to get him down from heights. I could be wrong though I'm almost through Book 1 (of the og cartoon)
Aang never glides upwards without his glider on the show, and he usually stays in an upright position when jumping around with airbending (which makes sense because it's easier to keep his balance)

No. It was a dumb choice. All they had to do was extend that scene by 15 seconds at most. Show Katara actually struggle - Sokka is freaking out because they're going to die on the iceburg, she's desperately trying to bring the canoe back, the ice cracks below her feat, and Aang's iceburg splits. 15 seconds.

Letting the Eldest in the tribe explain what happened was actually quite genius. I think most people get upset because it wasn't EXACTLY the same as the show. But this adds more depth and makes it more real imo. Great show, of course there were some differences but I am still exited for a season 2.

I only brought up masters to show because no matter how much power an Airbender has they can't fly because of their Earthly attachments. He already has enough plot armor, he didn't need more.

I'm going to be honest, I thought the show would be better then my expectations. But it wasn't sadly. They made the same mistake as in the movie and that is that Sokka isn't sarcastic and you hear him reading his lines, same with Katara. The cgi is really good but it doesnt feel right. Even when you look at the clothes, they're really more outfits than clothes. I mean in Harry potter you can see that people wear them but the clothes in the show are to clean not all of them but from the watertribe and air nomads. Just my opinion. I really liked your edit tho, its really funny
the reason why the cgi doesnt small all the time is not bc the effects are not good, its the whole writing and the impact of it.
Fight scenes can be very dramatic and tense when stakes are high. When they already tell us in the beginning than avatar aang is basically live action mulan and he is just op it destroys a lot of the tension. Also the way you film and direct, the order of events make also an impact.
