This should read "commissioned life in the RAF, there is two sides to any armed forces. I served 12 years in the RAF.

Totally agree - I served 7 years as airman and 5 as officer - they are two different worlds.

@@nachafitton571 it's self explanatory really, there's commissioned and enlisted. The enlisted don't serve in the opulence that the commissioned serve in.

After phase 2 it will most likely turn into a 0730 - 1630 or 1630 - 0200 job with some time to go to do sports if you excel or really put yourself out there

Is the uniform also generally worn with a tie?

No, that's shirt sleeve order. One of the many dress codes in the military. You can chose to wear a tie.

Short sleeve shirts are never worn with a tie.

Not sure what your experience of the RAF is, but you promote a lot slower than in the army because of the longer expected service length.

This was self evident when the colour of potential pilots was leaked as a box ticking quota issue... colour should not be an issue. The lack of funding is also making our military a joke and clown leaders who give endless money to corrupt morons in Ukraine is utterly disgraceful. No we don't want a war with Russia either.
