I've been alive almost 60 years. Yep I'm old. That said it's almost crazy reading so many fans comments on the state of our team the Detroit Lions. I gotta tell ya, in my 58 yrs my team has broken my heart in so many unique ways, add to that the countless hose job calls by nfl refs over the decades. I find myself in a place were I'm not sure of even how to act? I don't want to brag for fear of jinxing us.
    I mean it.
We've never even resembled a professional football team and by that I mean from vision, to front office, to coaching, drafting the list goes on. I say all of that to say this.
All I really really really want is for the Lions organization to NEVER let go of this way of putting together a winning professional football team! Its taken nearly 60 years for it to happen and I would enjoy being able to watch it for awhile and maybe even in a few years be able to brag about it.
ONE PRIDE? YOURE GOL DAMN RIGHT!! Lets goooooooo!!!!

Lions fan, Wow I am REALLY impressed with how well you know what is going on in Detroit. Not used to seeing that from non-local coverage. Yeah, Detroit is stacked and has great team cohesion/culture. Just need to have some luck with injures being manageable and there are going to be a lot of revisionist takes on the Lions from the biased talking heads in the LA and NY media sport orbits.

It’s so nice to be confident in my team these days. Know we have real professionals running the show. Starting with Shelia. What I really like is they draft character first, makes it so easy to root for everyone on team I watch a lot of the interviews with players and all of these guys are class and about the game. The 2023 drat class may go down in history as best draft EVER! Four talented guys all with humility and love for the game. Don’t know how we can keep them all. If Broderick Martin plays and plays even average…are you kidding me. Then Colby Sorsidal he came in and played well for our starters. Then I hear him in interview real well spoken great sense of humor dude. We could end up 6 starters in next couple years from 23. Thank you LA! This all happened because we have a head coach and GM that break the mold. When have you ever seen GM interact with fans, be so excited he’s on sidelines fired up in an elevator fired up. This team is different from top down and I’m so grateful. I have waited years to have a model franchise that other teams are trying to replacate.

Lions fan here I just wanted to let you guys know that you did a great job breaking down the Detroit Lions. I’m glad you mentioned Ennis Rakestraw. He will spend some time at nickel as Branch will spend time at safety. The Lions will have different packages at defensive back. They also added Amik Robinson at cornerback from the Raiders

Amon Ra is a unicorn of sorts- yeah, I know I probably sound like a fanboy, well, I am a Mater Dei Grad, so I guess I feel a little entitled lol. Seriously, born to Mr Universe with a tough German mother, with two older brother who were also 'engineered' to paly football, since the day he was born Amon Ra has been playing football. As the youngest, Amon Ra had the biggest chip and most to prove to his Dad, two older brothers and the rest of his Family. He's smart. Speaks three languages fluently. He's got a healthy ego. He knows when to turn it on and off; super humble. He's a stud and I hope he stays healthy and takes the Lions to the big game this season.

Lions fan here. Great breakdown on the Lions. I agree with the concern on offensive and defensive line depth. Offensive line is especially worrisome. Sorsdahl had a mixed rookie year. Gio Manu is a project and will not see the field this year. Mahogany could make a decent guard backup. Skipper can back up the tackles but is a huge talent dropoff. On defense, it looks better with backups being Paschal, Wingo, Martin and Houston. There is much less of a talent dropoff. The biggest concern on this defense is pass rush opposite Hutchinson. If Davenport can stay healthy and produce even a little, that will be huge. Jameson Williams will breaknout this year.

Are the Lions built for another S B run? We shouldn’t have gotten as far as we did last year.
We have a great Offense but we didn’t have a great Defense. Brad Holmes has loaded the secondary with great CBs and we have a good Safety room. And the additions of DJR,Davenport and All of the great Draft picks we are definitely ready to make a run for the SB.

That is the Lions preseason games. Andy Reid and KC declined joint practices. Apparently that is not something they do. Dan Campbell values the elevated competition and the work, the Chiefs seem to value the secrecy.

Deep with quality people great character guys. When Cam Sutton ran from law he was probably on the road as he got cut. Took them no time to make that decision
It’s so easy to root for this team because of the character not so much the talent of players being drafted. Brad will end up the highest paid GM some day because the Fords have to money to match and bump.
One thing I noticed was the draft room, detroits draft room had about 12 guys in there, compared to some rooms that were over crowded . This tells me they have done their homework have the players they want and if they can’t get them they don’t just pick BPA. Dan and Brad have both said not everyone can play here and they really mean that. PROOF: two DE available at deadline Detroit stood pat. I thought they were crazy but look where chase ended up…teanm Less. Sweat?!?! I don’t know but what I do know is they keep to their plan and only bring in players that fit and are all about their job and quality people

And befire you make up something, look at his career at Michigan. When they played State, Hutchinson was talked about as a-wait for it-day 2 pick. He was and still is inconsistent.
Branch is easily the best player on that unit. Then Alim. Then Hutchinson. You could see the impact without the first 2. Hutchinson never left the field. I expect Arnold to be more impactful too.

We didn’t have a starting caliber DT besides McNeil and honestly, our LB corp is very suspect at least. Anzalone has definitely played well because of his effort. Then the whole at CB situation??? Now what are you expecting one person to do with no help? Hutchinson had the most double teams in the whole league besides 1 other player. Dude is playing 100% of the snaps and getting doubled almost nearly the same. Now this year should be different with all the additions that they have made. So before handing out your stats score and grades wait till this year.
