Hi Gavin, this will be a great figure when you have finished, it certainly is going to be interesting when painting, lots of cresses etc to test you, best regards from a Kiwi living in Australia, Les
I built it a good 20 years ago....one of my first 1:16 figs....I remember the Stahlhelm was hideous. After a few figures I switched to Tamiya and what a difference, amazing detail with those others. Anyway great video mate!
I can’t wait to see this resin figure after you’ve finished painting it Gav - it’s one of my favourite WWII sculpts and I’ve lost count of the times I have looked at the Kampfgruppe Hansen photos and reels thus far in my life. ☺️ If memory serves, the pistol is a Belgian-made Browning Hi-Power that was issued to some German soldiers; the factory was captured in 1940. I often wonder if this soldier survived the war.
Cheers Ronald i should have him primed by Friday , the figure is styrene and comes on a sprue you might want to get one . The face isn't really a match for the bloke in the film but you still know who he is and its a really nice pose . Regards Gav.
@@gavinbooth oh, it is the Dragon Models kit figure then, awesome. I’m looking about in the stores here for it because postage on eBay is a killer these days. Thanks Gav.
The moulding looks fab Gav! Looking forward to seeing this one painted :) Thought about this guy wearing a US smock - as the British in the Napoleonic Wars preferred French packs - is it a bad sign when your troops use the enemy's equipment? My guess is 'Yep, it means yours is cr@p' *LOL*
TINY correction??? (The Semi-Automatic Pistol is a Browning Hi-Power 9mm by FN/Herstal of Belgium... When The Gerries took Belgium they allowed FN/Herstal to continue making pistols for the German armed forces. The pistol itself IS ACTUALLY an American/USA design, but the US Army never used it as a regular side weapon, preferring the Colt M1911. The Browning Hi-Power, so named for the 13-round magazine capacity, was mainly used by Waffen SS troops in WWII. The pistol is still produced today!) The fact that your figure is carrying a Browning pistol suggests he's Waffen SS, which makes sense if he's 'Battle Of The Bulge' era. As good as 'Luger' and 'Walther' German pistols were, the Browning was a better side-arm. (Browning Hi-Power pistols were also used in limited numbers by Allied/British/Commonwealth forces as there was a factory in Canada which manufactured them. They were issued in small numbers to 'Special Forces' types like 'Commandos', 'Paras', 'SAS' and 'French Resistance' soldiers. An EXCELLENT pistol but expensive to manufacture...) In Irish service it was the standard service pistol for years, nicknamed a 'Bap' for Browning Automatic Pistol but GOD FORBID you'd call it that in front of a CQMS!!! Looking forward to seeing what you do with this fella!!! xx SF
