  • In this video we have a great tutorial for a short length haircut on your pet ! This is Hojo, a beautiful elder Cock-a-poo ! Although this is a big job, this video is for both the at home groomer AND aspiring pro groomers. At first we thought we would be able to get a lot of the grooming done with our size 5 blade but we quickly had to pivot to a 7F blade, along with others. Short lengths on dog coats like this will help you maintain a bit easier in between grooming appointments. Follow along with Rudy and become a PRO GROOMER!

We apologize for the blade noise in this video, we struggled to find a blade to use because we’re in the process of sharpening our usual ones, ALSO when we mention the Wahl KM 5 Clipper we meant the Wahl KM 10 !

I learned a lot from your vlog. Thank you! I started grooming our two cockapoos almost five years ago when we retired abroad. The eldest cockapoo was traumatized by the groomers when i lived and worked in South Korea. It became a necessity for me to groom him because of the fear he developed. Thanks, again!

I am absolutely learning lots from every video you make! I wish I could send you a photo of my goldendoodles both trying to climb onto the grooming table at the same time, or how they line up outside the door while I groom the other one. It's hilarious how they can't wait to be groomed. That's because of your tutoring. I look forward to your weekly videos and thank you so much for helping me as a home groomer.

Great job, Rudy. I've just watched this for the second time...partly because I'm thinking maybe my next rescue could be a Cockapoo, but mostly because I learn something every time I watch one of your videos. I always feel encouraged to carry on with home-grooming my Shih Tzu, Squirt. And, yes, you are right about what might start out taking 2 or 3 days can eventually become 2 or 3 hours. This week, I washed, dried and trimmed Squirt's body all over, including paw pads in about 2 hours! Two hours is about as long as either of us can work in a stretch, and after we had some time to rest, I saw there were areas I was going to have to go back and tidy up. That was ok with me, because I got 95% done in the first session.
Do you have any tips on how to handle a head-shy and foot-shy dog? Trimming Squirt's face, paw pads and especially her nails is extremely difficult. She is strong and very wiggly when I approach these areas. My emphasis is always on safety, so I don't want to injure her, of course. Thanks for your videos. It is always good to see your work and learn what I can.

I’ve only watched a few videos on this channel but I can tell this guy cares and his videos are super helpful and thorough! Thank you! I typically take my dogs to the groomer but I did try it 2 times. It went ok but not great. I’m not trying again until I feel more comfortable.

Hi Rudy! I love your channel and your videos help me immensely! Just a question 🤔 my blade sharpening guy said to never use cooling sprays on my blades as it ruins them. In your 40 years experience of grooming what are your thoughts/ experience with this? As it makes sense to me to be able to cool a blade down quickly if needed. Look forward to your input. Thanks Rudy! 😊

@@kimusher3172 Hi Kim,thank you so much for your kind comment and for watching us..I disagree with the use of the cool lube, not only does it cool down the blades,it also lubricates them, and extends the blade life..Although I highly recommend a good quality one..Andis cool care 5 in 1 plus..Its the best one on the market..We appreciate you
