Too bad the Peugeot's lacked power and never been competitive in the BTCC, this ESSO Ultron livery is probably one of the best looking racing livery ever my personal favorite with the 1997 season livery of the Volvo S40
Other than the shell these shared nothing really with their road counterparts eg.like the ones in the early 2000s and current. You realize how low they sit?.
Good wood should do a Race only with cars that were in TOCA 2. Just think of the draw that would be! In fact they would have to double the Ticket allocation just because of staging that one Race. I cannot understand why they haven't arranged such a race already.
Old touring cars have slight negative camber for better traction but their wheels were a bit big compare todays touring cars where the camber is balanced and using smaller wheels
+Oscar Thorpe Dry weight just 975kg as well with F1 level suspension systems, so incredibly sharp handling. Modern BTCC NGTC may pack 400hp (compared to an ST's 300) but are around 300kg heavier.
***** was'nt the mondeo rear wheel drive as well , it started running 4wd with the front disconnected , then gave up on it ?... and i thought the v6 was a american engine as well , cos in the uk we didnt have a 2 liter v6 ?
Who remember playing with this cars on toca2 game?
me lol on the old psx..funny
oh god i remember i always run with the mondeo
i still play, see my profile :)
That BTCC Renault Laguna is the reason I watched BTCC from an early age, plus that awesome Volvo Estate they used to run amazing
What an era. You just had to be there
Orange Laguna, 850s, Mondeos... What a glorious age.
Beautiful and very underappreciated car... Hope to see it as a classic in some modern game some day
the best era of touring cars!!!! 1999 i bought myself a white primera gt saloon because of it!!!!
Need a longer video. PLEASE.
Btcc is now getting back to that standard of racing finally as it was struggling badly a few years ago
Just like the old days!
These legendary cars will take part in an incredible high speed demo for the first time at Goodwood in the 74th Members' Meeting in March
+Goodwood Road & Racing will the event be live streamed?
The cars sound amazing!!!!!!!!!!! That Renault is beautiful

the laguna sounds beatiful
Love the Primera 😍
crikey are they normally aspirated? because they sound like really meaty four pots
+Oscar Thorpe yes
Now its all down to 2 litre turbos , which isnt bad but not as exciting as these fine tuned NAs
I LOVE IT
Cool
Where's the Mondeo? Best looking car of the lot.
and mainly sounding the best along with the Volvo
Laguna aşkı
Strange the 2013 Champion BTCC has glasses but not when he's driving? ^^
Why are they referred to as "Super Tourers" and not just touring cars like they are now?
It was a certain set of rules (formula) that no longer is allowed. It distinguishes them from the cars that have run since.
Other than the shell these shared nothing really with their road counterparts eg.like the ones in the early 2000s and current. You realize how low they sit?.
@@kanjo8769 Engines had to be based on a road going version aswell.

Shame no Volvo 850!
Its there but parked somewhere else
I loved the 850 but the S40 around Bathurst with Rydell for the pole lap was visually and musically incredible.
Toca Race Driver
😍😍😍😍
I dont know but why super tourer cars have a bit of positve camber at the back wheels?
Old touring cars have slight negative camber for better traction but their wheels were a bit big compare todays touring cars where the camber is balanced and using smaller wheels
and why four cylinder engines at that? why not 6 or 8 cyl?
+Oscar Thorpe 320bhp does the job :D remember front wheel drive ..
oh yeah fwd

+Oscar Thorpe Mondeos had V6s, some of the E36s (which were RWD) had I6s, some had I4s. Volvo used an I5 in the S40 and 850 cars.
