I feel privileged to have discovered Lovebites just over a year ago, and even more privileged to call myself a fan. They are without doubt the most accomplished band I’ve seen since Rush. They do perfection perfectly. Everything they write is melodic, complex, extremely catchy, beautifully played and sung. I can honestly say that for 12 months 95% of my listening has been Lovebites. If I try to go back to old favourites (Rush, Rainbow, Purple etc) I get easily bored. I don’t tire of Lovebites and have played them daily for 13 months. I knew in the first 30 seconds of the first song I heard that I had a new favourite band. I knew they couldn’t write an album filler, and I was right. They are so good that as a non musician myself I just knew that I would like everything they had done… instinctively. I adore these ladies, they are a once in a lifetime band. Great reaction and appreciation of, what in a sane world, would be a household name.
these ladies are friggin amazing, all are multitalented, their songs are great musically and lyrically, want to see them live , hopefully one day, great reaction, more please
Loved the goofy grin on your face during the Etude. Since you are a fan of classical music, this will not be new to you, but here is some background for your viewers who are interested. Chopin (pronounced Show-pan) was a Polish-born Romantic-era (1800’s) classical composer and piano virtuoso who lived most of his life in France. He is considered one of the greatest classical composers of all time. Miyako, who composes a lot of Lovebites’ music, is a professional-level concert pianist, and was originally going to make classical music her career. When she was 18, she picked up a guitar, and is now one of the best metal guitarists in the world. She particularly likes the Romantic Era classical composers like Debussy, Dvořák, Chopin and Rachmaninoff. She composed “Swan Song” using elements of the New World Symphony (Dvořák) and Chopin’s Revolutionary Etude (official name Étude Opus 10, No. 12 in C minor). All five members of the band are Jedi-level musicians, but I think Miyako is a once-in-a generation talent, a true savant.
Miyako has been studying piano since the age of three and wanted to make a career as a classical pianist. But at the age of 18 she picked up the guitar for the first time and this is the result. 😊She is a super pianist and super guitarist.🐺
Haruna "little BIG Engine" drums (4'9"; 1.4478m) Asami "The One & Only Voice" vocals (4'10"; 1.4732m) Midori "Crazy Shredder" guitar (4'11"; 1.5m) Miyako "The Golden Touch" guitar/piano (5'2"; 1.5748m) Miho "Natural Born Head-Banger" bass (5'1"; 1.5494m) nicknames given by the band
Great & thanks from Japan 有難う💛。 Haruna's drumming is super. I read an article about her in a Japanese magazine "Headbang" (vol.29 published in April 2021 [page 124]). Haruna answered in an interview that her muscle mass was equivalent to that of Japanese male. No! She must have much bigger muscle, heart and passion in her dainty body frame.

Intro is Chopin: "Revolutionary etude". In the background (recorded) another Chopin: "Ocean", like the sea movement, and the final that repeat the Ocean with the Dvorak Symphony "The new World".
So true, there is so much EPICness going on that it's hard to call out specific highlights. MIYAKO coming back on the keys in the end answers any doubt about who laid down that backing track. It's perfection. 🤘🐺🤘
miyako is so precious. it´s interesting, that she didn´t like the touch of this piano, cause it may look like a grand piano, but was actually digital one with plastic keys. she prefers analog with wooden keys. she started with an upright piano. soon her piano teacher suggested, that it was time to upgrade to a grand piano, her parents bought her a yamaha C 1 , a small grand piano. but she didn´t like the feel of the plastic keys at all. so she took her saved otoshidama (money from relatives on new years day), about 100.000 yen, to upgrade the plastic keys to wooden keys.
Beautiful song and performance!! The piano runs during the chorus are recorded tracks since Miyako is playing the guitar. Haruna is fantastic on the drums!! The whole band is phenomenal! One song you MUST check out is "A Frozen Serenade" - ruclips.net/video/Ae8pQVu-RN8/видео.html one of their ballads! 🤘🐺🎸
Yeah the piano scales are a backing track sinked with a click track (and why they are wearing in ear monitors for keeping them on track) but this song is more than just a metal song but a musical masterpiece
Miyako played on a white Roland's electronic piano for the first time in this live. So she said that she had a hard time because it was very hard to play. It was not a satisfactory performance for her. (It sounds great to me😅) In my most recent live performance, I switched to a real grand piano, and this performance is still much better. It expresses the ups and downs of emotions more and has a different dimension from an electronic piano. You can see a little bit of it in the official trailer video of the live dvd, so check it out.
They do occasionally use piano/keyboard/choral backing tracks when it's important for the song. I'm fine with that. The rest is audibly and visibly played live. On one song, Today Is The Day, Asami does the piano fills live, so maybe they would prefer that if possible. If they used a keyboard more often, they could hire a sixth member... perhaps a multi-instrumentalist?
Great reaction. Its easy to get dazzled by the great twin guitar leads and overlook the wizardry on the drums by Haruna. She deserves more praise and it would be nice if they used split screen technique so we could see more of her.
Miyako sometimes refers to her Babygrand ( at her home studio ) as, " my best friend, " I can imagine that she has composed many songs with it & finds comfort & joy playing it." Midori also plays piano, though I've never seen or heard her play, I don't know if that's because she wants to concentrate on guitar, leaving the ( keys ) to Miyako or what ? Anybody have some insight into that ? Anyway, " M & M " are my favorite guitar duo ♥

I see you reacted to several Liliac too... another family band (from Mexico) are The Warning. A power trio of sisters. Best place to start would be the original cover of Enter Sandman and the follow up with the newest version. The music that they wrote, start with the live session of Evolve.
Music written by Miyako (piano, guitar) with lyrics by Asami (singer). Miyako did the arrangement and final production is done in Finland. Miho ( bass, Band founder) said that they wanted a European metal sound, hence Finland rather than Japan. Haruna (drums) is 4' 9" and is rumored to be Nuclear Powered. She pretty plays at this pace for an entire concert. Haruna came from Destrose with Miho to create Lovebites. Miyako has her own YT channel, that she does from her home studio. The studio is where Midori (guitar) and her practice/rehearses to keep in sync. There are 200+ Rock/Metal bands in Japan, most all female! So you need to get busy.
From France: Indeed, Lovebites often uses pre-recorded complements on stage as a background in support of the music played live. But also, I like the contrast of play between the two guitarists. Miyako (black haired) has a quick, dry and more melodic touch, but Midori (blond ponytail) is obviously a shredding virtuoso (the best for me, but I'm biased! I admit that I haven't I hadn't heard a guitarist who had so many effects on me and when you love, you don't count...), but in this particular piece, his accompaniment is very fast and above all very fluid, almost like a stream , which gives the piece this incomparable ease of listening, while its arrangements are complex. And Haruna? Haruna is a real Panzer, unstoppable, of power, speed and precision of play, supported like hell by an essential Miho in great shape...

If this was the last day you could live on this earth
Would you still go on, accusing someone for today
It’s better to fail than not do anything at all
It is not the length, but depth of life that counts
Oh brave soldier
Oh gallant warrior
Valor to those who died in battle to Valhalla
Believe what’s in your soul
For death will come to all
You shall rest peacefully in God’s Heaven
Floating lotus
You are so graceful
Saintly and glorious
Till the end of time
Floating lotus
You are so beautiful
Sing me your sweet song
The legend of the swan
If you’ve never hoped, you’ve never been though despair
Ignorance is bliss, it’s easier to not care
You might think it’s meaningless to sacrifice a life
Sometimes the life of one can save so many more
Oh brave soldier
Oh gallant warrior
Valor to those who died in battle to Valhalla
Believe what’s in your soul
For death will come to all
You shall rest peacefully in God’s Heaven
Floating lotus
You are so graceful
