    • @Pythonaria
      @Pythonaria Год назад +14

      In this day and age with power steering I still don't understand the need to feed the wheel through your hands. That should have gone out with the ark. That was OK in the days when there was no power steering and you needed a bit of strength also the steering on a lot of old cars was worm gear rather than rack and pinion. I saw someone a few weeks back struggle to get round a corner because they were feeding the wheel through their hands. It looked like someone not long through their test. Clipped the kerb twice because of it too. I passed my test first time in 1975 and the first thing I did was drop the feed through the hands. No accidents and still have a clean licence.

    • @Pythonaria
      @Pythonaria Год назад +1

      @@ChrisAndCats I think it's more that 10 to 2 is a natural position for most people. When I passed my test in 1975 PAS wasn't a thing and steering wheels tended to be big. Fine if you were a man and had the strength to feed the wheel through your hands as you were taught - much harder for small women like myself so as soon as I passed my test, the feeding went out the window and I crossed my hands. So much easier. Seems to be a relic from the past they've held on to. Remember when brakes weren't servo assisted? You literally had to jump on the brake pedal to do an emergency stop and if you had air in the system had to pump the brake pedal like mad. I once had total brake failure in a Morris Minor. Not something I'd like to repeat but no harm was done except I shook like a leaf for a while. I cringe when I think of the deathtraps I drove as a young driver but I'm still here to tell the tale.

    These round abouts confuse me! I'm from US. I think driving on the right side of the road is so much easier but probably just because that's what I learned and know!

    • @ChrisAndCats
      @ChrisAndCats Год назад +1

      Driving in the left to me makes more sense - not just because that's what I've learned/am used to, but because the majority of people are right handed, therefore it makes more sense to me for the driver to be on the right side of the vehicke, to hold the steering wheel with the dominant/right hand and change gear with the left, non dominant hand. Changing gear the other way round feels all kinds of wrong to me for that reason! With regards to roundabouts, they're pretty easy. You always give way to traffic from the right (unless they're traffic light controlled and say otherwise). Generally, you're in the left lane to turn left, left or middle lane where there is one for straight on, and right lane for turning right. Where there's a 2 lane approach and exit, you can follow round in both lanes.

      On USA roundabouts just give way to cars already on the roundabout or ones to the left of you, go around the roundabout until you get to your exit.
      It helps to think of them as a normal junction but instead you have to go in a circle... I haven't seen any double or more lane roundabouts in USA so I'm not gonna bother explaining that

If not the instructor I posed the danger to 10+ pedestrians over 30 hours of learning and probably 6 cars because of my wrong decision making (I've done decisions, but I've done wrong ones).
    Remember, I'm passing it in Poland because it's obvious, I'm a Pole. I hope I don't mess up, I want to surprise my mom.
    Btw British roundabouts infrastructure and streetlights positioning looks so odd... OK, in Poland it's not great either, but our infrastructure looks so intuitive...
    Edit: Hell yeah, passed the 1st time, but only because of good examiner. He stopped the car when I was about to hit a pole on the curve on manuevers square. Also he passed my parking despite it being not the best.

    I need to ask, at 10:30. When she is about to drive out into the road again why is the handbreak still applied? Isn't it better to take the handbreak off and press down the break pedal and then move out seems like a more complicated way to do it.

    She look obviously nervous af. We all feel this at first . Especially I've never drive a manual car. But i don't even know how could pull of in test. Like I was drive manual everyday but actually never. The key is confidence and believe yourself. Nervous is normal but don't too think about it. She look hella scared and too nervous. Actually everything we do need confidence. This road look easy tho. Mine was up hill, highway, traffic jam and had to hold control oil and manual pedal at the same then press handbrake down while up hill is the hardest. But somehow I could manage to do so. Like i said. Believe yourself

    I have watched many of Pin's videos and many learners say to Pin they have been told by their instructors that they're ready for their test. If these learners are being told by their instructors they're ready for their tests, then Pin gives them a mock driving test and they drive like this, then DVSA should be asking the learner's instructors why they think they're ready for their test. You have the patience of a saint Pin. Just wondering what your alloys look like.

    As someone whos been driving for years id struggle with this test. Im from the us and the those particular roundabouts were confusing AF, what didnt make it easier is i didnt hear the satnav giving great directions lane wise.

    • @Smiley451XD
      @Smiley451XD Год назад +1

      You have to figure out roundabout lanes by yourself, a satnav will never tell you. It only tells you the exit and you have to pick the correct lane by location of the exit you want to take and the markings on the floor. Some roundabouts spiral with 3 or 4 changing lanes and you have to figure it out! Hated that when I didn’t know the area x

    How is it possible to select 1st gear while car is moving ? In my car a would have push it hard and grind gears .

    • @reanna5573
      @reanna5573 Год назад +1

      You can but you would have to clutch all the way down before changing to 1st gear and you may have to slow down a bit depending on how fast you’re going because your car may be thrusted forward a bit if you’re going too fast for 1st gear

    Recently when i was doing parallel parking but not actual parallel because i could drive straight in since there wasnt car on two parking places and it was first time i touched the curb since im driving. I have my driving license for a year and always remember how Pin says curbs can damage the tyre, so that really scared me so much that i went check the tyre afterwards. Its fine, but cant happen again haha

    Who is telling these people they are at the stage of a mock test? This is crazy telling inexperienced drivers do a mock test see how you get on. Its obvious they arent ready so this is just instructors wanting a high fail rate or what? People that are ready for mock tests should be observed to make barely any mistakes. Bad teaching.
