I’ve been using the Carlinkit 3 with my iPhone 13 pro max and it’s been great. Having it already plugged in when you first start up the car makes it feel like it connects faster. There is a web interface that allows you to make adjustments when you phone is connected to it. Pretty cool.

Congrats on the subscribers! Yeah, it's crazy to me that SO many cars don't have wireless AA/ACP and it has nothing to do with the class or cost. My understanding is that it always has to do with how the car uses WiFi for other things since those use WiFi for the high speed wireless data connection. Which would be a legitimate excuse 5 years ago when it was new - but the fact that they haven't figured out a solution yet... Probably because they are instead spending all their resources developing their own stupid mapping systems, none of which are as good as Google Maps or Apple Maps. Car companies can be very slow to catch up with what people actually want sometimes...

Thank you for that info. Another thought: I know that it is inconvenient to lean down to connect your phone to the "Car Play" USB plug, so what I did was to just dedicate a lightning-USB cord to that plug, so when I get in the car, the cord is right there by the drivers seat, or really anywhere you want to leave it, connect it to your phone. and Boom!

@@radiioman46 Funny it's kind of the opposite for me. I like the convenience of having the wireless carplay automatically connect on short trips. I'll be listening to a podcast, stop and buy groceries, get back in the car and it just starts playing again. I use it a lot more than the radio. On long trips I prefer to have it connected by cord as it is more reliable and charges faster than my wireless charger.

Glad I'm not the only one who's just bought a nice long usb cable that means I can plug my phone in easily and just place it under the armrest! This is our first car with Android auto, so to some extent it's great to have it at all! Secondly the Motorola MA1 isn't available in the UK so I'd likely have to choose a Chinese non brand copy, which just feels like throwing money away. Maybe I'll use it differently as we get to know the car and Android auto better, but for now it is mostly for longer trips where I want Google maps or ABRP running and Spotify is a bonus 😁

@@mme4tpc4 FWIW I just picked up AAWireless and it's worked pretty well so far in my Ioniq 5 -- you could give it a try if available. It also has an Auto-off option which kills power to the device if your phone's Bluetooth connection to the car fails (which happens when you turn the car off), the MA1 doesn't have anything like that.

I started on the Kona EV with wired CarPlay, moved to the ID.4 with wireless CarPlay and thought I was in heaven. But then I realised that when doing a long journey the wireless charging pad couldn’t keep up with playing music, navigation etc and I was ending my journey with 40% on my phone. When I upgraded to the Ioniq 5 I decided that it wasn’t really an issue any longer.
I just wish the car play port had been one in the center console not all the way at the front

At best of my knowledge, the problem with the AA or ACP is the Bluelink app.
Hyundai app have some nasty incompatibility with both system on the wireless side… security tokens doesn’t have the right certificate hence the wireless connection doesn’t work.
That’s why on Konas or i20, which don’t use bluelink app, the ACP or AA work flawlessly.
The manufacturers, Apple and Google, have to share some keys to Hyundai so it can authenticate the wireless connection within the Bluelink app.
Until then, wired usb or third party devices are the only way use AA or ACP on the Ioniq 5.

I use the AAwireless dongle. Works great once you get it setup correctly. Connects quickly in just a few seconds after starting the car maybe 5-10 seconds. The ionic 5 has an always on USB port in the front which ever so slightly complicates the setup process as without the correct toggles your phone will try to reconnect once you leave the vehicle.

What makes the lack of wireless extra dumb is if you want to use AA and use your phone as the digital key, you have to have it plugged in and sitting on the wireless charger. Since that is where the NFC reader is.

I used a Car2Play Wireless adapter which seems to operate the same as the Motorola but was available right away. Works great. Does occasionally drop the connection in weird spots which is annoying.
My understanding was that wireless CarPlay and Android Auto was missing due to the chip shortage and that they had to use a lower end chip which can't handle it. As a result, it's unlikely it will come as a software update since it's a hardware limitation.

My brother gave me a Carlink dongle and it worked pretty well but failed to connect now and again. So I tried the Ottocast as I thought it might work better and people reviewing it claimed it connected really fast. I haven't found it to be that much better than the Carlink. It fails to connect every once in a while, but in my 2021 RAV4 Prime it's super easy to unplug and plug back in and it almost always works if I do that. The lack of wireless carplay in my car is disappointing, but not out of keeping with the outdated feel of the Toyota infotainment system. Toyota was really phoning it in. Pun intended? I don't know.

I’ve used multiple Carlinkit adapters before for wireless carplay and while I always like them a lot at first, they always get sold. The problem is not connectivity speed (although it’s very annoying considering how fast the wired connection is), the problem is LATENCY. I make a lot of phone calls in the car and the latency introduced by the wireless adapter is maddening. It makes phonecalls incredibly frustrating, like a bad web conference call where people are constantly talking over each other. Until that’s solved, it’s tough to recommend these unless you never use the phone.

DISAPPOINTED ! I got the Carlinkit 3 for my Ioniq 5 and my iPhone 13 as I saw here it worked. I find it to be a waste of money ! There is so much delay between with Apple Car Play (iphone running Waze) and the Ioniq display it's pathetic ! I've missed turns and exits because of it. It can lag behind up to 400 meters (quarter of a mile)... (you ar at the end of the exit ramp and it's still on the freeway... SAD)
I have updated the unit, no improvement, I've changed the 'delay time' to 300 instead of the original 1000 ms, no improvement, I can not find a decent online manual that explains all the parameters one sees on the phone (when connected to the IP address)
Also the speed indicator from Waze is lagging behind so badly. (you speed up to 65 and for several seconds it's still showing 30)
None of this occurs when using Apple car play & Waze over a usb cable (and everything works fast and crisp)
so... SAVE YOUR MONEY is my advice... (if anyone in Europe still wants one, mine is for sale after a week of use)
