  • In this video I discuss the first three days of my Open Myomectomy experience. I had an Open Myomectomy on March 29, 2021 to remove large fibroids from my uterus. I spent 3 days and 2 nights in the hospital. I talk about pain management, my first time walking after surgery, how I felt and how I am recovering so far. I will be making more video uploads tracking my progress as I heal and recover.

Wishing you a speedy recovery. I had the same procedure done a few year ago and went through the same recovery process. Unfortunately, the fibroids grew back. I had to continously receive a lot of blood transfusions and iron infusions due to low hemoglobin from heavy periods. To make a long story short, it was either my life or my uterus. Sadly I had a partial hysterectomy two weeks ago. During the procedure they realized that my uterus was stuck to my bladder. A result of scar tissue from the myomectomy. They had to cut through my bladder to remove my uterus. I basically had two surgeries instead of one. I had to be discharged with a Foley until my bladder healed. I'm doing very well now. Unfortunately I never had children so if this is something you desire, please work on it. There is a chance the fibroids will grow back. I did get pregnant right after my myomectomy but it ended in miscarriage. Me saying all this is not to scare anyone but I think as women we need to be aware of different issues that can affect our bodies. I wish someone had told me earlier.

The UFE didn't work for me either and since I had the procedure June 2020 smh..................I am so sick of having iron infusions of course I was having them prior to my UFE needless to say the procedure was a epic fail so I am 10 months out and here we or BUMMER! So I am going to look into the Myomectomy myself this is ridiculous. Thank you for the video , I am making calls tomorrow I am not plan to get pregnant neither do NOT want more children however I refuse to have a hysterectomy (knock on wood) I want to keep my UTERUS it's like all doctors want to do however I have had family members who have had a hysterectomy and had so many life threathening alignments years later it is crazy. Hey hon, thank you for being so vulnerable and transparent. I had my open myomectomy surgery on Thursday 13 January and it’s now Wednesday 2 February. I feel better, however my incision feels really tight due to the scar tissue which is causing me some discomfort. Also the hair in and near the incision is growing back ( I waxed before the surgery )which is causing irritation to skin near the scar. Did you experience this? Also when I have to pass wind, I get a sharp pain before I have pass wind is this normal? I’ve got my follow up on consultation with my dr which I’m looking forward to.
