Eddie, i’ve been listening to your videos and recordings since 2015ish when i got into my first car accident. Ive struggled a lot in my late teens and early 20s with listening to myself, my own goals and path in life vs. what others think would be best for me, now that im approaching 30 your videos and words still mean just as much to me if not more. You’ve gotten me through some of the toughest times in my life and im picking up the pieces and starting what i really want- my own life and a health care career path. Thank you for making a difference in peoples lives

I'm not the sort that usually cries, but listening to this made me tear up. I realized that it's been so long since I've truly been proud of myself. I miss it. Recently, I had been thinking back to my childhood and romanticizing, as we all do. I was aware that I was remembering it better than it had been. There were just as many ups and downs then as there are now. I knew for sure, though, that something was missing. There was some missing spark present in days-gone-by, which allowed me to be happy, regardless of what was happening. "So, what can I do to make you proud?" I asked myself. Instantly, I knew it boiled down to listening and acting on my own passions. I needed to utterly sever any external expectation and just do what called to me. There are many things I've put off doing, simply because they did not conform to the practical viewpoint I had constructed for my world. Living in these confines, with no thoughts of leaving, I became like an adult elephant tied to a small, wooden chair.
How could I ever be proud of that? I've heard others say, "you don't need to change" or "you're great as you are, just be happy" - which stems from the right intentions of encouraging one another to be ourselves. However, the end results of discouraging change are abysmal. Change is needed. Now. So when the video ended, I pulled out a pen and paper. On that paper, I wrote 3 small - seemingly inconsequential - things I could do by the end of the day that would allow me to be proud of how I spent my time. I'm going to forge new habits that I can be proud of.
