I don't know much of the 82nd, but what I see of thier courage at La Fiére Bridge, I can only take my hat off to every one of them. I had the honour to catch the words of the present 82nd Padre at La Fiére Bridge & he told the story so great of thier deeds from the 6th to 9th of June 1944, I hope you'll watch that clip on my next video of Sainte-Mère-Église
@@paulbutterworthbillericay ,. The 82nd pioneered all the Airborne, and glider techniques, equipment, and tactics used in Normandy. The hard way, trial and error.....in WWII, the US had 6 Airborne Divisions, and a few dedicated Airborne Combat Regiments. The 101st was far from the most experienced. After the war they were disbanded. The 82nd became our only Airborne Division. They still are, but we do have a couple Independent Airborne Regiments. (Like the 173rd.) The 101st, when reactivated became an Air Assault Division in an era when numerous light Infantry Divisions became proficient in Air Assault tactics.
@@unitedwestand5100Great History of the 82nd, the Lieutenant Colnel Pastor I interviewed at La Fiére Bridge really knew the history well, check out my video on Sainte-Mère-Église
Thank you so much.
you did so well. Kind regards from Alessandra from Switzerland.❤
Thank you so much, D-Day 80 was something to remember
The 82nd was tested, and experienced. In both Sicily and Italy.
The 101st was the green untested Airborne Division.
