[FANTINE]
There was a time when men were kind
When their voices were soft
And their words inviting
There was a time when love was blind
And the world was a song
And the song was exciting
There was a time
Then it all went wrong
I dreamed a dream in time gone by
When hope was high and life worth living
I dreamed that love would never die
I dreamed that God would be forgiving
Then I was young and unafraid
And dreams were made and used and wasted
There was no ransom to be paid
No song unsung, no wine untasted
But the tigers come at night
With their voices soft as thunder
As they tear your hope apart
As they turn your dream to shame
He slept a summer by my side
He filled my days with endless wonder
He took my childhood in his stride
But he was gone when autumn came
And still I dream he'll come to me
That we will live the years together
But there are dreams that cannot be
And there are storms we cannot weather
I had a dream my life would be
So different from this hell I'm living
So different now from what it seemed
Now life has killed the dream I dreamed
Maravillosa!❤
If this was at the Pantages Theater on Hollywood Blvd. Los Angeles in 1991, I was there during the opening. Bruce Jenner, Neil Patrick Harris, Leslie Nielsen and other celebrities including Johnny Carson were there. It was the most awesome Jean Valjean performance ever. Even if it didn't come from that night, I assume it would still be the same cast. Thank you for sharing. Brings back great memories.
Absolutely stunning performance by my 2nd live Fantine Susan Gilmour! This song never makes me cry but this time is an exception and I'm more than just misty-eyed right now. I love her passion and her eyes filled with tears in the end is so moving. What a fantastic Fantine! I feel so blessed to have seen her in this production back in 1991. Definitely one of the best ever Fantines.
absolutely incredible. Pretty much the most heartfelt renditions I've seen. And I saw some pretty amazing Fantines.
I saw her in the Toronto production!
Incredible music by an incredible performer. It is still as powerful to hear now, as it was when I first heard this song many years ago. Timeless...
Stunning
Beautiful work
Video would be great if the stupid email wasn't sitting in the middle of the screen the whole time.
I hate that, too.
