  • Well like the title says. I will share with you my process for creating the floor for my morgue diorama I have started building. It is a tile floor made from xps foam. I have experimented with tile floors in the past using foam but was not happy enough with the result to use the piece or share the steps. I am however happy with this floor. I use these same tools and techniques when creating brick or stone for my other toy photography sets. I just approached tile a bit differently because You dont want to end up with "white squares" on a big piece of foam. Lines need to be straight and your washes need to be built up light to dark and while the process was fun it stretched my skills too. Hope you enjoy this video and look forward to seeing your tile floors!

It may be a "bad finish" for tiles but at the angles shown it looks like, or at least reminds me of, the texture of those ceiling tiles you'd see in schools or offices.
What do you think, since you had the up close view in hand? May be a mistake worth remembering how to replicate for another project someday...

Yes I ended up using this piece in the concrete tutorial it was a matter of being to close is what caused the poor finish but it’s redeemable for sure it has the ability to be used

Hate to burst your bubble bud but that looks more like cement blocks than tile. Tiles dont have square indents but more so v shaped indents so all that hoopla was for nothing
