I am so stoked that it now comes in a wide . It’s good on easy runs, speed work and I ran 5K race over the 4th and it was a dream to run in. This is be in my rotation now permanently!
This shoe is everything I thought the Novatrash 3 would be. Light, responsive, cushioned and you forget you’re wearing them. Meanwhile the Novablast is clunky, heavy, draining and feels like a boat. Love the Mach 5s great shoe.
I feel the same way. This and the Speed 3 are much much better daily drivers than the Novablast 3. NB 3 is a boat...clunky and feels like I'm running in place...wanted to love the NB3 but just don't...already retired them.
I got mine just 5 days ago and in my humble opinion is the best Hoka running shoe I ever run in. Great for slow days, great for tempo days, and I just arrived from a 200m strides training at 3’00’’ km (4’50’’ mile) and it also worked great. I feel like throwing away the cliftons and the carbon x and just get a few of this. Thank you guys for the review !!
@@io-rj6sk they are lighter, faster and less bulky then the Clifton. They are softer then the Carbon X and a completely different shoe. The only issue is the durability of the outsole.

I was worried the 5 was gonna leave me disappointed after loving the 4. The 5 improves on an already great platform. Got 28 miles on my first run out of the box without any issues.
I wonder how many people caught Chim Chim and Spriddle chilling in the thumbnail. Great review and I’ll will pass the word on the green light status of the shoe 🤜🏾🤛🏻
Thanks for the review and agree with everything but found a weakness for certain runners/styles. I'm a slightly bigger guy and noticed when transitioning to downhills, it felt like the shoes were bottoming out and it was also a warm day. It appears the Profly + soft foam can't hold up with the force of heavier runners/downhill/heat and it blows through its stroke then bottoming on the EVA. That said I do like them for flat tempo/rubberized track running, but bummed about them being harsh on downhills which removes them from my hill training days. This is probably also why lighter runners seem to really like them, they're not running into the bottoming out effect.
Totally agree with your comment, as a bigger runner myself I did feel them bottoming out. Try the Clifton 8, for me they make the Mach 4 & 5 feel flat.
@@Nivek_Fartswamy ~85kg and higher, though if you have a certain way of landing (looking at how your shoes bottom out) could also attribute to them going flat sooner
Hey, i see you have copy pasted this exact comment on multiple reviews. Can you elaborate more, like how heavy are you, what shoes do you recommend, etc?
I’ve been running in the Clifton 8’s and love them. Super stoked to see the Mach 5 being offered in wide for the first time!! That said, if I could only get one pair next, which should I go for?
Ran my first run in them today. Loved them. Cushion feels great. Upper fits perfect. Love the laces. Def not springy tho. Should not be advertised as a fast shoe. Amazing as my daily trainer. Stoked to put more miles in it. Curious to see how long it will last.
That is a very good question. I want to know too. I am currently wearing the Nova Blast 2. But wanna get a second pair since my 1st pair Pegasus 37 is almost dead.
The Mach 4 was my favourite daily trainer, so I bought the Mach 5 as soon as it was released here in Australia. I loved it from the start, so much fun to run in. Then, my opinion changed, when I stumbled upon a sale of the clifton 8 and I haven't worn the Mach 5 since. It's the perfect shoe for me , the Mach series now feels flat. Midsole of the clifton is the perfect amount of cushioning and rocker for me, which is such as surprise as it's supposedly outdated eva foam as opposed to the profly plus. Stepping into the two shoes the clifton feels boring compared to the mach but when I start running, wow, perfect!
Put over 400 miles on my first pair of Mach 4’s before I felt they died. The forefoot was worn smooth but I never noticed any lack of grip. They’re now my lawn mowing shoes and helped me set a new PR (kidding…sort of)
I've been convinced and will be adding this to my line-up. I have not had issues with durability on the exposed rubberized EVA from Hoka with past shoes. As long as you treat these as strictly a road shoe, they should hold up just fine.
Hoka definitely make aesthetically pleasing running shoes. I like their stuff, it's usually good quality. That said they generally don't seem to be built to last.
How have people been finding the width? I don’t have particularly wide feet, but in the Clifton 8s I needed a wide as I found the D width a tad narrow with my small toe, and while I got the wide in the Speedgoat 4s I didn’t feel like I needed it with them as much. It doesn’t look like our local Hoka importer is going to be bringing in the wide version of the Mach 5, so I’m curious as to whether this has a bit more width in the toe box than the Mach 4 did, as I’m right on the boundary of whether I need a wide in Hokas or not (am fine in other shoes).
Please help, I need some advice on replacing my Pegasus Turbo 2 as my 1 rotation-shoe, I'm thinking about Mach 5 and Endorphin Speed 3. Which one should i buy? Or should i buy the last version of the shoe mention above? Thanks
Really enjoying the shoes, but having some knee pain that I have never experienced before in any other running shoes. Not sure if its the shoes themselves or the shoes making me want to run faster and my legs just aren’t used to it.
Do you think they are too soft to train on grass? During XC we train in a big grass field at like 3pm in Texas. It goes unsaid that it is stupid hot. My training pace it 7flat or faster, and I don't like having to push through foam to run hard, do you guys think they would be ok?
@@TheBsheep I've thought about it, but compared to road shoes their and just less options. Also our field is well mowed, I just asked about traction because the mach has no rubber. Any good trainers with rubber have given enough traction in the past.
I totally get the Mach 4 hype. However, I felt like the Mach 4 does have a feeing like running in sand, it’s hard to describe, but while the shoe felt like I could pick up the pace.. It seems to take away some energy, or make me feel that way for longer tempo runs.
I thought for sure Thomas was going to whack Meaghan with the shoelace the way they were flopping around. I'm still a Clifton guy but I may have to give these a shot.
I felt like the Mach 4 was hugely overrated: the midsole just had no rocker design that I've been longing for since the OG Clifton. I'm sure some will like this update, but I'll be running in the Rincon because it more mimics the original Clifton.
Good evenning Believe in the run and all the runners from 🇪🇸. Excellent and helpful video. Here is my like. I like Hoka Mach5....and I like Noosa tri14....Help me!!! I don't know.....A nice week for everyone. 🏃♂️☀️🏃♂️

Mach 5, 100%. Such a good shoe.

Are they faster then the Mach4?
I’d say same for Noosa Tri 14 with the sensitivity to temperature. Hot temperatures make it feel pure butter. Cold weather makes it hard!
Compared to the Asics Novablast 3 (2) what is the Mach 5 like? Best of the bests?

EVA lasts at least 600km. People are imagining things…
I had 2 pairs of Rincons die before 150 miles. In fact all of my shoes die by about 300 miles, EVA or not.
