Batavia Stad Fashion Outlet is the first fashion outlet (Factory outlet center) in the Netherlands, located on the Markermeer in Lelystad. The outlet is named after the ship Batavia from 1628, a replica of which is moored nearby, at the Bataviawerf.
The shopping center is an imitation of a fortified city, complete with a heavy city wall, three city gates, pedestrianized cobblestone streets and a series of individual wooden shop buildings with a quasi-authentic architectural appearance, partly inspired by Marken, partly by the West Indies colonies, where the ' Batavia' as a mirror return ship of the Dutch East India Company has never been.
After opening as the first outlet center in the Netherlands in 2001, Batavia Stad Fashion Outlet was expanded in 2008 with a second phase and in 2009 with a third phase. With the expansions, Batavia Stad was located directly on the Markermeer. The first phase as well as the extensions were initiated and developed by project developer Stable International from Amersfoort. The extensions are designed by Attika Architekten. In June 2015, VIA Outlets (owner since 2014) again announced a major expansion of 45 stores with a floor area of 5,500 m². With this, Batavia Stad would have 150 stores, with a total area of 31,000 m².

This is one of the places to visit if you like history, sea, old ships, outdoor and experience. You can use a museum ticket and visit 3 parts: the ship Batavia, the outdoir museum and the indoor museum. All different places close together. Take your time 3 to 4 hours if you are fast. There is as also an big fashion outlet nearby.
