    Marker wadden are so beautiful. I've been there a few times with a sail boat now. it's just beautiful to go there and say for a few days and relax.

      I'm sure sailing in the area is so nice! Thank you for sharing.

    That looks amazing! It would be really cool to visit that island. Even the boat ride looked like a lot of fun!

      It was fun! I got that little rush from it 😂 I was impressed with the island...from the paths, to the lookouts, to the beach. Just pleasant in an unusual setting.

    Very delightful. I lived in Florida for 55 years and I I'm used to the shorelines and grasslands as well as swamps. You have to constantly protect it or it will be eaten alive.

      So true! I love how the Dutch are always finding ways to let nature do its thing!

    Thanks for the tips on Batavia land. We will visit there on our next trip to Amsterdam😀

    Loved it, as usual. Rhib by the way stands for 'Rigid-Hulled Inflatable Boat'. Also worth noticing (at 7.07) is the ship 'Port of Lelystad', a former boying tender and now the trainingship of the Seacadet Corps of Lelystad. 'Zeekadetkorps Nederland' is a national maritime-oriented youth organisation...

      Thank you! That is really interesting about the ship, thanks for sharing 😊
      In this case it is RIB, I hadn't seen it as Rhib before, so that's also new to me! I only know this is RIB because it's in the company name.

      @@aWanderlustForLife I learned yesterday that in the US it appears to be RHIB (Rigid Hulled Inflatable Boat), while in the UK it is RIB (Rigid-hulled Inflatable Boat). Go figure... 🤔

    I come from the UK, And live here in Lelystad for some years now. We are trying to get Lelystad better on the map. Our shopping center is totally deserted. Better off in Batavia Stad.and lovely Beach,And hopefully someday our Airport will open up for European flights.

      I like Batavia Stad quite a lot! And Almere has some great beaches. Do you have some in Lelystad?

      @@aWanderlustForLife yes we have a new beach near the Batavia. Actually across the ship.where that big man structure is. And we have another called the Houtribstrand.😉

    Heard of it?🤔🤔🤔🤔 oh, I live there.
    But the Marker wadden I will need to visit, looks cool.
    I am a regular to Bataviastad, for me a good shopping mall close to where I live. And the only place in Lelystad I am aware off where you can get illy coffee.

    • @aWanderlustForLife
      @aWanderlustForLife  Год назад +1

      I thought I would have some viewers who lived there! Definitely take the opportunity to see the islands. If you just want to visit the one I went to, you can take the RIB experience, but there is also a ferry. Bataviastad is even nicer than I expected... we'll be back soon!

    I hear of it, I try to avoid the place as much as possible :) Go visit Urk, that's a nice place and in lelystad go see the Batavia and the museum.

    • @aWanderlustForLife

      Is Urk tourist friendly? I've heard that people there get confused when tourists visit.

    Oh my... this was so weird for me to watch, as a Dutch person in Lelystad, like e.v.e.r.y body else in Lelystad think this is the ugliest, most boring city there is. It's dead. To see you love it so much puts things to perspective a bit.

    • @aWanderlustForLife
      @aWanderlustForLife  Год назад +2

      I really believe that there is something to love about everywhere. But when we live there, it's hard to see. After being away from my home state in the USA for over 8 years now, I realize how beautiful it is. I definitely didn't appreciate it when I lived there.

    Definitely sponsored content. Would not advise people coming to Almere or Lelystad. There is nothing to do there except the Markerwadden. Would highly suggest visiting Amsterdam, The Hague, Leiden, Delft or Haarlem instead when they are in South-Holland and North-Holland to experience Dutch cities. Almere and Flevoland are famous for having nothing to do for the local people here. Most people only spend a few days in the Netherlands and I wouls feel terrible if people are going to visit Flevoland instead of the cities I mentioned

    • @aWanderlustForLife
      @aWanderlustForLife  Год назад

      I have videos from all over the Netherlands. This is not saying you shouldn't visit those other places. But I have a lot of subscribers who live here like I do and are interested in doing others things. I also like giving a different perspective to areas.

      There is a reason a lot of people in the Netherlands call it Lelijkstad and Alsmerig and don't even want to be found dead there.... The only positive things about Flevoland are De Marker Wadden,Oostvaardersplassen and Schokland.
