I just ordered a TT-02B Dual Ridge off of eBay (because I wanted to be a hipster and get the more unusual body design). The plan is to make it a project car, but a more unusual one. Using the numerous aftermarket upgrades available for this platform and the TT-02 touring car, I'm going to try to turn it into a competitive carpet racing buggy and see if I can show up all the Associateds and XRAYs. If I end up winning races, hopefully the guys who spend thousands on their cars won't kill me over this. /s
Hi! Oh yes, the Dual Ridge sure is a more rare and unusual body - very cool! Good luck with the upgrade project, there is so much you can do the TT02 platform. Fingers crossed for the carpet racing, above all, have fun! 😎👌👍
Mark.... I keep revisiting your old videos. Since it only took me about 6 years to finally get a TT-02B, and HERE is where I turn for ideas! I'm eternally sorry for what I've done.
My neighbor's kid had one of these.. He drove and drove and drove. That thing was unstoppable. Great overview here guys and lots of interesting info. Anyone who has been here a while knows that these rigs are truely ran hard. so if anyone knows the value on something like this .. It's you guys. Thanks for sharing it. Thumbs up
Thanks for the very kind words, Nick - much appreciated my friend. Yeah, these buggies are pretty indestructible, as your neighbour's kid has also proven! Mine has taken more abuse than any of my other cars, and is still good to go. Cheers for the awesome support, Bro. :)
Nice chat and talk and info Mark and Rob, i watched this sunday morning with a brew and enjoyed. 300 to 400 battery packs is a lot use and fun from this buddy and defo had your money worth from it. Awsomme stuff dudes
Glad you enjoyed it with your brew, Tibs! Yeah, this thing should have worn out ages ago, but it just keeps going. Still great to drive, and pretty nippy too. As you say, money well spent. Appreciate you watching and commenting, dude - all the best to you from Mark and Rob! :)
What an enjoyable and informative quarter-hour! I think you spoke very naturally together on camera - it´s nice to see two well informed RC mates discussing Tamiyas.
Thank you so much, Del! Well, if nothing else, Rob and I enjoyed making the video, we just try and be like we are off-camera, but on-camera, if you know what I mean. I did have to cut a few bits out though, that were not "appropriate", shall we say! Cheers for always leaving a kind comment, and as ever, wishing you a cool weekend. :-)
You guys gave me inspiration, now I'm doing up my neo scorcher which bought from the dump for $15 and came with everything, might put up a vid showing what I have upgraded soon, great inspiration lads
That is awesome, you picked up quite a bargain, my friend! I'm pleased you liked the video. Let me know if you do put up a video, sounds like a cool project - I love a bargain and any Tamiya that is given life again is one to be proud of! :)
It’ always good to watch review from people who have owned it for a while. You guys made a very informative and interesting video. Keep up the good work!
My friend Mark, yes definitely the TT-02B is on my shopping list. And I thank you for raising it in the ranking of future purchases. Even if he's not in first place, he's still in the top five. ( The next purchase will be a TT-02D, this one is very much awaited by David's body shop). Thank you very much for your video, it's great to share these experiences. Thanks also to Rob, always loyal to the post. I hope you're okay. I will finally be able to build the DN-01 after a week's work in the house. Cool! Take care of yourself and yours, my friend.👍🏽
Hello, Alex my friend! Thanks for your wonderful comments - yes the TT02B must be in the top 5 Tamiya buggies to own, he is a very nice handling beast, and not too ugly, either! Good choice of TT02D - you will be enjoying that one very much. I'm very happy that you enjoyed the chat, it is always better to talk with Rob than just the lonely camera. We are well, thank you, I hope you and yours are too. I look forward to your DN-01. Take it easy, mon ami! :)
Love mine, I've got the metallic blue one! Running a 13.5T Brushless & runs very nicely with turnbuckle upgrades & the DF03 Aluminium shocks which are more looks than function TBH although an upgrade over the standard CVA's. Highly recommended & very very durable, just don't get the carbon shock towers I broke them pretty soon after fitted them!!! Great video Mark & Rob hope you all doing well... :-)
Thanks very much, Ben - we are all doing well my friend. Sounds like we have similar setups, we can't both be wrong! Such a great driving buggy with a few tweaks. Strange about the carbon shock towers breaking, my rear one has been fine. However, the stock plastic ones are so soft, I'm sure they will never break! Take care, all the best to you, Ben. :)
Well hello mate. That was most enjoyable indeed. I had been looking to see if you had a new vid and luckily this popped up in the pre tea drink time. I was trying to think if I could add anything to your excellent review and I can't think of much. I have had bevel gears break on these. The TT-02B I have currently has the metal gears which were pretty expensive but don't click under breaking like the plastic ones did. I've got the metal steering linkage and it is better but there is still some play. I agree that with the standard motor it's too predictable and it needs more power to be fun. I'm surprised that somebody hasn't created a range of indestructible rear wings for these things. Anyway I hope that Friday is treating you well. There is an RC session planned for Sunday. Just hoping that it isn't too busy as the traffic heading south today was mental. I need to get some dinner to soak up this strong IPA. Cheers for now mate 😀
Well hello, mate! What a lovely comment, even after that strong IPA - sounds very quaffable! Glad I covered most things TT02B related, cool that you agree with most of the points, at least I'm not too far off the mark. Well - my alloy wing is pretty indestructible! All good here, thanks, hope Sunday is a good RC day for you and not too busy - all the best, matey! :))
Pete Wylie RC Videos I seem to break something on mine every time I take it out, so it doesn’t get to go out very often. The latest thing is a loud clicking as it decelerates, like you described. I couldn’t work out what the noise was, I couldn’t replicate the noise with the gears, so I thought it might be the prop shaft. I have gone and invested in an aluminium shaft and end thingumies (and motor mount, but mostly because I stripped the screw threads in one of the holes...). At least it’ll give me an excuse to give it a proper strip down and a proper look when they come (I only ordered them this morning). If my problem is the same as yours, what should I be looking for?
@@KingBollock hello mate. It's the bevel gears at the ends of the prop shaft that click. They just get a bit rounded off. The metal prop shaft set may hold them in place more securely but what I did was to go all metal with the gears. Not cheap but it doesn't click now. Ric had the same thing too. I think they are ok until you have a lot of traction like with the spiked tyres on grass. My rally car TT-02 is fine because the tyres don't grip so much. Hope this helps 😀
Pete Wylie RC Videos Thanks! That’s actually loads of help. Gah! I was hoping to spend a bit more on one of my other hobbies this month (got a couple of ideas for guitar effect pedal builds). Oh well, I suppose I best get looking for new gears!
@@KingBollock oh dear, they were about £70 as far as I remember. Don't know if anyone else does them cheaper. I did an unboxing video of my Dual Ridge where I show the gears that I used. Oh and they had to be sent from China! Good luck 😀
What a nice chat to enjoy on a Sunday morning with my coffee!😊 ☕️ I’ve never owned one of these; I’ll have to change that someday! Great information here Mark; well done by you and Rob!👍😊
Thanks very much, Jeremy! I love a cup of fresh coffee in the morning, too. Yeah, look one of these beauties up one day, I think you would love it. Thanks for the great comment, best wishes from me and Rob! :)
Great video mate, very informative. Just bought a Tt02 r chassis kit to play with and see how fast I can get it to go. Told my wife to get the plasma edge 2 and buy the upgrade kit . Of course she will want the thing to fly , these Tamiya cars are just so addictive. For the money and fun of upgrades and building them they are fantastic. The wife would have the thing on 6s if it would fit . 3s is more than enough.
Great to hear, Peter! Nice couple of kits you got to keep you and your wife entertained. These cars truly are addictive, I can't get enough of them myself. Definitely value for money. Haha, 6S - 2S is enough for me! Take care and have fun! :))
Hey Mark man, I hope you never stop doing these kind of technical RC review videos. I'm sure many RC veterans could learn something from this, so to a newcomer this type of content can prove invaluable. Anyone who has put a buggy through 300-400 battery runs is more than qualified to inform an audience about the pro's and con's of the said buggy - and it shows in this video. Also with all those upgrades this chassis looks like a real warhorse. It's unsurprising that it's still in one piece and functioning after so many runs. And my word, that rear spoiler that you built out of aluminium. I love that. All through the video I was thinking it was an unpainted piece of lexan with stickers on it, and then boom, you tell us it's metal. Brilliant upgrade. Really enjoyed watching this one pal....👍🏻👍🏻.
Thank you so much, mate - it's great to have such an encouraging comment - as you know, it's hard to understand what youtube and viewers like, so it's great to know you think I'm on the right track! BTW, I am loving your recent card tricks - got me baffled, I'd love to see you do it right in front of me! I'd still be none the wiser, but fascinating all the same! Oh, and glad you liked the alloy wing, working with aluminium is a speciality of mine, if ever you need a bespoke bit of metal, let me know! All the best my good friend! :))
Very nice! Your TT02B sounds awesome, should be bulletproof with those metal parts! Well worth a little extra weight - at least you will get better traction as a bonus! All the best from Mark... :O)
Great review and overview, Mark and Rob. He, yeah, the suspension mount fix (compared to the DF-02) is what I like the most. Sometimes Tamiya do fix and improve things 🙂 Hmm. I must get my TT-02B out more often. And build the MS. Thinking aloud, sorry, Anyways ... I really enjoyed the chat. I think you covered it all. I’m not sure about the stock shocks though. Aren’t they the ones with the all-in-one-metal-piston, with no holes? They just feel odd and springy compared to let’s say ... the DT-02 (Sand Viper/Desert Gator). I might remember wrong ... But great video, my friends. Loved it.
Hello Mikael - great to read you as always! Hope things are good with the new family addition! Yeah, the TT-02B is pretty awesome out of the box. ...and yeah, you should get yours out more often :)) No the shocks on my Neo Scorcher were definitely equipped with the plastic pistons, with 1.2 and 3 holes to choose from. I think my Blitzer Beetle came with the metal all-in-one pistons - ahh it is late and I may be confused about the Blitzer ! But my DF01 definitely came with them! Thanks for the great comment, sleep tight my friend! :-)
@@MarkBryanRC So cool if the Neo Scorcher got the plastic pistons. Yeah, I am not too sure of I remember correctly, but the white shocks on my Dual Ridge XB definitely doesn't feel very good (for off road purposes anyway) and I think these are the metal ones. If I remember correctly the DF-02 shocks feels even worse. Just build the shocks on the Stadium Thunder, they are excellent, with the 1-2-3-hole & plastic options. And with very suitable springs. Just love it. Sometimes Tamiya just get's it right with the CVA's. The CVA's on my former Blitzer Beetle felt very good too I remember. Day is gone. another night awaits, sleep tight my good friend.
First of all, great videos! I have never seen such a nice comment section under a video. Your calm and great way of presenting things seems to attract such an awesome audience! I have finally fallen and also decided to get back into the hobby with an Tamiya TT02-B. As far as I understand the Neo Scorcher and the Plasma Edge 2 are the same? But as I’m only seeing offers of the Plasma Edge 2 with the TBLE02s ESC and im planning to upgrade to brushless I think I’m gonna go with this one! Is there any difference that anyone in the community here is aware of? Will the GPM Parts set also work on this one and do I need anything else to install it other than the 8PC set? Thanks to anyone who might see this in advance. Thanks Mark for making such detailed and great videos. I can’t wait to throw it around in some dirt!
Thanks very much for the great comment, Tim. Yes, I'm really lucky to have such a great collection of comments on most of my videos, thanks to many friends I have made in this hobby and in making my little videos. I sure wouldn't keep doing this if it wasn't for them! Cool that you too are getting back into this fascinating hobby - and the TT-02B is a great way to start. Yeah, the Plasma Edge 2 is exactly the same as the Neo, excluding the body, of course! It will work well with a 13.5T sensored brushless motor. I couldn't find an 8PC set online, but the individual GPM TT-02B parts fit fine. Hope someone else might pick up on this comment. Good luck with the buggy, and thanks again! :-)
the plastic pro shaft does actually twist under torque making the front end less responsive under power , not really noticeable unless your raging around a track looking for exit speed
Yes mate - I know it twists but as you rightly say, it's hard to notice when you are just having fun with the buggy. I do like the look of the alloy shaft though! :)))
@@MarkBryanRC both mt tto2 s types are gathering dust now , since i started rock and trail crawling i have lost interest in racing this is so much more relaxing
I changed the drive shafts to metal U.J’s makes a big difference to the steering and ride height. The plastic front drive shafts stops you having full lock !
Hi Peter - good call! Yes, the standard dog bones do indeed limit steering and suspension travel - I have some of those UJ's, I must get round to fitting them soon! All the best - cheers! :-)
Good review and info , just bought a Neo Scorcher today. Will be my first tt-02 buggy . My biggest concern is the tt02 chassis’s get a lot of debris from the wheel spin under the body into the moving parts of the chassis.
Thanks, Eric! It's a smashing buggy! TBH the body on the Neo Scorcher fits very closely to the chassis, keeping most of the dirt and debris at bay! I don't have too many problems with mine, but you could always fit a mesh or netting cover over the internals if you get any problems. Best wishes from Mark... :)
The only thing bad I can say about the TT02B is the fiberglass filled nylon gears can't take 3s and a lot of traction offroad(but not many running on 3s I suppose). I broke the internal rear bevel/pinion gear(the one at the end of driveshaft inside rear end gear case) broke within a minute of using a 3s offroad. I put all metal rear gearbox gears including the diff. Also put in a metal spur and motor pinion gear. My son bashes his TT02B and it regularly sees jumps off my ramp for my Arrma and nothing has broke in 3 months of hard use.
Gotta agree they are the weak points - my son also stripped his but only running MiMh and a 17.5 brushless! Mine is OK but makes the odd clicking noise when you hit reverse. Good to hear your son's is holding up well with the metal conversion - sure is a tough buggy apart from the gears! :)
I've had mine a while, the yellow shocks broke when I wall jumped out in front of mine. Now sporting blue anodised ones with slightly higher clearance. I hopped up the linkage for the steering. I am considering going brushless. All in all a good kit at a good price. I would totally recommend it.
Hi David. Oh, I hate it when those walls and trees jump out in front of my buggies! This car runs great with a mild brushless, it's good to have that extended run-time, too. Good to have confirmation that you recommend the TT02B, it's not just me - hehe, we must be right! :D
The tt02b got me back into hobby too, the only issue I had was the tble-02 esc that came with it, the bec failed within days, also replaced the steering components, that has definitely sharpened steering up.
Seems like the TT02B is responsible for getting a lot of us back into RC! Yeah, I have had a TBLE fail too, but only one of about 12 that I have! Good to know the steering can be improved, it's next on my list! All the best from Mark... :)
I was trying to figure out the upgrades before you pointed them out. What stands out is the Brushless System and the shocks. I've never seen the buggy live before. I was guessing you made a brace for the front shock tower. I have to go back and check your old uploads for a run of this cool buggy 👍🏾👍🏾
Hiya Paul - great to read ya! Well spotted my friend - the motor and shocks are nicely colour-coded! As I said in the video, this buggy is sweet handling, hopefully you will see a couple of those drifts in a run vid. Thanks for watching, have a cool weekend, Brother! :-)
Hi Mark, nice review, enjoyed the pros and cons and the fact you've had fun with the buggy. If it helps, I used Tamiya 54574 for the steering linkage, you could use 54575 as well. I have used the former. I have posted online my first run of my TT02, yes...I picked up a battle scar. My filming not as good as you guys though, I'm a mere amateur compared to you and Rob. Keep well guys, excellent work.
Cheers, John, glad you enjoyed it mate. Cheers for the tip - I'm looking at the Fastrax version as it's a lot cheaper! Similar desigh, though. I went and looked at your video, very interesting - we cracked the same part! All the best, keep well too. :)
Oh yes, I know how life can get in the way, too! I hope you get some time to build it soon, and I'm sure you will enjoy the process. All the best from Mark... :-)
I'll have to remember to trim the Rear a little bit, to accept longer Shocks. I'm using screw-in Upper Links, since you've mentioned that the Dogbones could pop out! Thanks Mate, for your help from the past!! 🍻🍻🇺🇲🇬🇧
Hi Carm - yeah, a little trim of the lower arms is in order for sure! Wish I had fitted those screw in links, but hey, that's hindsight for ya! You are welcome, mate, past, present or future!!!
Yeah dear Friend, my FF03 is the only one that uses those pop in links. I've decided that running Videos are in order, if I get out of Hospital... starting with the FF03! My Friend, Steven actually saw a couple of your Videos. 😲 Not big on RC but he was curious. BECAUSE of your speed run Videos, he bought me a GPS Speed Meter, with Altimeter!! (Fun in this part of the World) I obviously haven't seen it yet, as I'm locked in under complete quarantine! 😬🤮😪 Cindi said that the box is only about 2 inches square, so it might be the right size! I'd LOVE to get a 10.5t Brushless, and try out a few Cars...
Hi - the motor is a Hobbyking Turnigy Trackstar 13.5T sensored brushless - it suits this buggy very well! I also fitted a 20 tooth pinion to increase the gearing. Cheers! :O)
Hi Mark, thanks so much for creating these detailed videos! Do you think it would be possible to put a rally car body such as a Subaru Impreza onto a TT02B chassis? As far as I can see, the TT02B has two mounting poles for the body, whereas a rally car body usually needs four mounting poles... But maybe it would be somehow possible to install four poles onto this chassis anyways? The back part where normally the wing is located probably also wont fit perfectly for a rally body I assume, but I guess one could cut out a portion of the body for that. Cheers and thanks again!
Hi Andreas! You are very welcome, Sir! Hmmm... I think it is possible to mount a rally body on the TT02B, although the rear shock tower is very high, so some bodies will be tricky. The real issue is the track (width between the left and right wheels). Standard rally body is 190mm wide. I think the wheels would stick outside the body!!! Look for a TT02-S chassis, similar suspension design to the TT02B, but 190mm wide! All the best! 😎
Awesome video! I am wrestling between this car or the boomerang for my 12 year old. Like the long front bumper on the boomerang to absorb some front end hits, but overall I would like to know your suggestion on which car you feel would be more durable? Mainly parking lot driving and groomed dirt. No big jumps or bashing. Thank you!
Hi and many thanks - glad you enjoyed the video! Being totally honest I think the newer TT02B is more robust due to the newer types of plastic used for the chassis and suspension comonents. Don't get me wrong, the Boomerang is a great buggy too, but the harder plastics are more prone to breakages. With light use and stock motors both would be fine! Cheers! :D
@MarkBryanRC Thank you for the response! I am leaning towards the TT02B for my kid and I may pick up the Boomerang. Just need to avoid her hitting me at full speed. Also going to order the new Jato 4x4 bls for mom to use.
@@MarkBryanRC He seems like he knows his stuff from the few videos I’ve seen. I’m a complete noob researching what to buy as a first rc car. I want a Tamiya, but can’t decide between the tt02 and tt02b🤯 Eventually it’ll probably be both but what to get first?? There is an outdoor asphalt track quite close to where I live. And also a decent sized asphalt tennis court sized area where I can run it in a local park. Too much dog poo in the grass around here, definitely don’t want to clean that off as I already have to pick up the poo of my own dogs.
@@elmanitasdeplomo Hi - yes, Rob really does know a lot about RC stuff! We all start somewhere, and a TT02 or TT02B is a great place to start. Both are excellent. Oh yeah, dog sh!t is the curse of all RC off roaders! At least you pick yours up, we'd be OK if everyone else did the same! Sounds like the road version might be the best option for you, initially at least. All the best!
@@MarkBryanRC I think you’ve just confirmed what I was thinking, the road version, also more versatile I think because it can be a rally car, drifter or racer. The track near me hosts Tamiya cup races and they don’t even allow off road cars on the track I just read on their website, so road version it will be. I’m thinking the tt02r is the one I’m going to go with.
Mark - I am looking for a kit to build with my 6/7 yr old - for him to use. Will be on tarmac and grass (local park). Would you suggest the TT02 or the DT-03? SImilar price, will be fairly stock to start with (may get some bearings but thats about it). Am thinking the DT03 as it comes with better motor and looks like it has better ground clearance, but TT02 is 4WD and v well supported...
Wow - that's a tough question! The DT is an easier build, and a bit faster. They both come with the Torque tuned motor, but RWD has less transmission losses. The TT is easier to drive, especially on the dirt. They are both bomb-proof. I recommend both, but for a child the 4WD is probably easier to learn how to drive. Either way, you can't lose though! Best regards from Mark... :)
Hi - the DT does have a bit more ground clearance, but the stock springs in the back are way too soft and it bottoms out easily. You can improve the TT by using the inner shock mount holes on the lower wishbones.
I love it! - I'm sorely tempted to get a Plasma Edge - but as Rob just ordered one this morning, I'll leave it a while! Thanks for the great comment! :))
I love the TT-02B. The Neo Scorcher was the first TT-02 i bought after i started with RC's again in 2014. Now i have 13 TT02's but only one of them is a B version. I've run loads of packs with mine too but nowhere as you guys :) The title reminds me of a Carwow video :) He always ask at the end of a review: Should you buy one ?
Wow, that;s a lot of TT's my friend! So we have more in common - the TT02 got me back into RC after a 20 year break. We ran them long and hard, and still going strong. Such a great chassis. Hehe, yeah, should you buy one? Definitely! All the best, Are. :)
Hi, just wondering which version I should get, the open back of the PEii looks like it will let a lot of dirt in, but the low sides of the neo can it accommodate a hobbywing 10BL60 esc with it’s fan ?? Any advice from your and Rob’s experience?
Hi Nick! Hmmm, yep, the Neo body does sit low and I have trouble fitting the stock TBLE02 under it as the ESC sits on top of the servo. I don't think Robs PE2 lets in too much dirt but there would definitely be more room to locate that ESC with a fan. All the best!
Hi mark and rob the df02 I had one of them and the same thing happened to me it was a good days building and about 10 minutes of play 😢 nice up load guys hope your keeping all good 👍👍 wen you started to speak about the tyres I had it in my head that you was going to say grippy lol 😝
Cheers my mate Kirkster. Poor old DF02, he has many problems! But not so the TT02b - he is good and strong! Haha, I really missed out on that grippy joke - must remember to add it next time. All the best to you and your family. :-)
Hello! I once had driven one in a gravel path and I think a rock damaged the steering but if I turn it on it moves on it’s own. I need help of what’s wrong with it.
@@MarkBryanRC omg thank you I’ve always wanted to drive it again , do I get the exact servo as the original ( factory ) or a high performance upgraded one?
Hi Gaz - great news on your new addition! A 13.5T sensored is a good compromise, I have used many Turnigy Trackstar motors with great results. Also those cheap non-branded blue anodised sensored brushless motors all over eBay are cheap (about £20) and do a good job. It's probably more down to what you can find in stock at the minute due to this Covid mess. Good luck in your search! :)
Awesome information, for it to go through that many Battery's in 5 years its got to be Amazing 😱 Get another one Mark and Rob should get one to 👍Really enjoyed your Bench Talk Vid Bro. Have a great Sunday and Stay Safe. BRO'S FOR LIFE 👍😍👍😎👍
Hello, Bro! Yeah, it probably has had more batteries through it than that, I was trying to be conservative! Watch this (and Rob's) space - you never know what we'll get next! Thanks for watching and the amazing support, always appreciated my bro 4 life! :))
Thanks Brent! 👍 Hehe, yeah, the trademark Tamiya yellow shock - love 'em or hate 'em! I quite like them myself. If you get the chance, pick up a TT02B - you won't regret it my friend. And a smashing weekend to you too! :))
I selled my blazing star cuase spur gear often broke when switched to brushless, im looking for a rc car for my 6th year old son now, im considering between losi mini t 1/18 and a tamiya TT02B, i think losi is more durable, but unfortunately there is no kit availible, which one you would buy? THX
Hello there! I'm sorry but I don't have a Losi mini, so I can't compare them. I have had very few problems with my TT02B, it's been very strong and good fun for the last 5 years and still going strong! :)
It's a cracking buggy I like it so much I have two now it definitely needs the steering upgrade and the shock towers and the alloy motor mount is a must 👍top video
Totally agree, it is a great buggy, Coryn! Good advice about those upgrades, I need to try one of those motor mounts in the near future. Thanks for the kind words, all the best from Mark... :)
Thanks very much - yeah, this thing has really taken a beating over the years! Such a great buggy and definitely one for the list. All the best from Mark... :)
I have to say I'm hugely disappointed with my plasma edge 2. It snapped a tooth on the bevel gear first run around the garden and overheats badly. My boys racing fighter on the other hand has been bomb proof.
Sorry to hear that! And strange, as my son's and mine have been so tough. But yes, the Racing Fighter is as tough as nails! All the best from Mark... :)
Great review Mark, looking at getting the plasma edge also , but want to run brushless , what motor do you have in that one ? Do you have a link for it , or know of a similar one that would work ,have ordered a tamiya tle brushed/brushless Esc , but I believe you need a sensored brushless motor ,all new to me ,lol
Hello! Yeah, you need a sensored motor, I use the Trackstar 13.5T and it's perfect for the TT-02. It works fine with the TBLE02s, and even comes with the sensor cable that you need to plug into the ESC. Here is a link: hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigy-trackstar-13-5t-sensored-brushless-motor-3040kv-roar-approved.html?wrh_pdp=7
Hey Mark, it might be an odd question. But could me make an review of the DF-03 or an comparison to the tt-02b? I try to build some competitive cars for a friend and myself without braking the bank and want to know if the extra money is worth it. Wish you all the best mate! Thx for sharing your knowledge 🙏🏼
Hello Marcus. Do you want to make a comparison video? Sorry, but I'm a bit unsure of what you mean. Both the TT02B and the DF03 are great buggies. I do think the extra cost of the DF is worth it because the parts are much better quality. But if all you need is a basic basher buggy, the TT02 is great after you fit metal bearings and a faster motor! Best to you, my friend. :)
@@MarkBryanRC sorry for causing this confusion, it actually was a typo 🙈 it should have been a "you" instead of me. Since you have both cars on hand, could you make a comparison or give some sort of advice on entry-level competitive tamiya buggys? Thanks a lot for your answer my friend 🙏🏼
@@marcushaas44 Ah, now I understand! I will see what I can do - I'm not well at the moment so it may take a while. It's a good idea for a video - thanks my friend! :)
Hello friend, how are you? I saw your review and I'm thinking of buying this plasma edge ii (my idea is to drive it at 25-30 mph, max) do you think I can clear the gears and diffs quickly? Are there metal engraving updates? (differential, spur gear) Regards
Hello, I'm well thank you, I hope you are too! The Plasma Edge is a great buggy. II do not know of any metal gear replacements for this car, but the stock plastic parts will be fine at 25-30 mph. Regards to you! 😎👌👍
Hi Mark, I have got a plasma edge and have to change out the servo soon which I have but the one in car has futaba, which has smaller shaft than my replacement Acoms, does the servo bag have different sizes to accommodate? If so I can order a parts bag with confidence Thanks Mate 🙏
Hi Cat - yeah, if you get a Tamiya servo saver it comes with an adaptor for both types of servo, I think they are 23 tooth and 25 tooth splines. You can sometimes jam the wrong adaptor on and it will work OK. Hope you get it sorted out OK, mate! :)
This is a very helpful video - thank you. I've just taken delivery of a Plasma Edge II buggy kit and now I know what other bits I need to order. Do you by any chance have a link to that brushless 13.5T motor? Really looking forward to building this one as it will be my 1st 4WD kit build.
Hi Nick - and thank you for the nice comment... Good to hear that Plasma Edge has arrived! Here is a link to that motor, great price, too: hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigy-trackstar-13-5t-sensored-brushless-motor-3040kv-roar-approved.html?___store=en_us Good luck with the build. 👍😊
Hiya - I find the TT02B is pretty stable even with the brushless setup - however, I have added a little toe-in to the front that helps keep it running straight! All the best from Mark... :)
Glad you enjoyed it, Paul! Well, if nothing else, Rob and I had a laugh making this one - and the TT02B really is a great Tamiya, can't remember if you have one? Anyway, all the best, mate! :)
Mark Bryan RC Yeah, I have a TT02B Neo Scorcher but did the hop ups right from the start. Truthfully I haven’t ran it yet. I am currently building the Buggyra truck on the TT01E chassis. I have been painting all day just finished the last colour at about 9pm. Not happy with the last coat, so I’ll hit it again in the morning. But have also dropped in the Yeah Racing hop kit in to it as well. Everything is as smooth as butter. We are heading for further restrictions for COVID19 so I have and will stock up on lots of activities to keep me busy. We are in the Education business, so it complicates life greatly. As my better half sits next to me on the phone tracing contacts and working out when they have to get tested again etc. Fun and games mate! 🤣🤣👍🤓🇦🇺
Cool you got a Neo Scorcher! You will love it when you run it! I like the Buggyra truck body too, have thought about getting one. Same here with the lockdown issues, cases are rising again and some localised areas are being isolated. Same here, as my Wife works for a university and me in a school - what a mess! Hope you guys are doing OK, best wishes from us to you! :-)
Hi, do you run some metal gear differentials with that brushless motor or does stock plastic gears inside the stock differentials are withstading the brushless power?
Depends what rocks your boat more, nostalgic beauty shelf queen "Terra Scorcher" or thrash n bash runner "Neo Scorcher" i would always go for the Terra Scorcher simply because it looks stunning in box art and was my first Tamiya buggy so great memories.
Hi Schutt - I'm currently running a 20T pinion. I have a high speed gear set, but haven't fitted it yet! The buggy will certainly handle the higher gearing with the 13.5T motor! Cheers! :)
Interesting video. I have recently built a DT03 and added carbon damper stays and a full turnbuckle set. One thing I have noticed is the rear inside turnbuckle which you have to add 1.5 mm spacer can work themselves loose and you loose the screw and spacer. I was lucky and I found the dog bone after it collapsed. Do you use lock tight with your turnbuckles ?
Hi Ian, thanks very much for the comment. To make sure the turnbuckles stay in place, you can use locktight or, where possible, secure the ball-ends with nylock nuts (which I prefer). All the best my friend! :-)
@@MarkBryanRC Have been running a Tamiya 17.5T brushless motor with 2S Lipo and it seems about right (36k's) flat out with the timing turned up and 19t pinion. Handles superbly on the dirt with this motor and suspension. Especially when compared to my old 85 vintage hornet (Over 35 years old which I found in the garage this year and restored with new ESC, motor and servo - still works great, hats off to Tamiya). I have a 10.5T for a new build and will put it in the DT03 to see how quick it will go. I needed to get a fan for this as I understand the Tamiya ESC will overheat with the higher RPM motor. Got back into this after a 35 layoff and can't get enough of it. Thanks for the informative videos, keep them coming
That setup sounds just perfect, Ian! Good you got the old hornet going again, yeah, these Tamiya's keep on going with a little TLC! Oh, I have never gone below 13.5 with the TBLE02, very wise to fit the fan, that's exactly what's needed. You and me both, I had a 20 year layoff! Good we got back into it, I think this hobby is keeping me sane in these crazy times! Cheers, mate, keep 'em running! :))
@@MarkBryanRC Just ran the DT03 with the 10.5 brushless and hit 51k's on Tarmac. This car handles great and if I tightened the suspension, put on the stiffer stabilizer (I have the flexier one for off road) and put road tyres I reckon it would be perfect. Had a quick run on dirt and the motor is a bit to much and could only really run at 3/4 throttle. So I think the 17.5T setup is what I will stick with especially for off road.
@@ianwinpenny1857 Hi Ian - yea the 17.5 sounds just right for dirt running, as you say, the 10.5 is a bit too much off road, but sounds like a hell of a lot of fun on tarmac! 51k is a great speed, and definitely fast enough for this old RC driver!!! :))
Hi there, really enjoy your videos! I'm thinking of getting back into Tamiya building - I used to have a Subaru Brat in about 1984! What is the top of the range buggy these days or a really good one you'd recommend buying? I've saved up so can buy a good car. Look forward to hearing your thoughts. Best wishes, Alastair
Hi Alastair. It's nice to know you enjoy the videos, thank you! You have asked a very tricky question! Trouble is, there is a real problem with availability at the moment, you will be lucky to find much of a choice at all, I'm afraid. If you want to go for the most detailed build and amazing quality materials, the Avante or Egress are the ones to go for - but very expensive! TBH, I think the entry level kits, with a few hop-ups are pretty awesome, like the TT02B 4WD or the DT03 RWD is a blast with a decent brushless motor and a few carbon bits like the shock towers added. If you have a bit of cash saved, it might be fun to hop-up one of these chassis. In the middle are re-releases of older kits, I can recommend the Terra Scorcher and the Super Hot Shot, great cars and very iconic. As I said, it will probably come down to which kit you can actually get your hands on! Best of luck and best regards from Mark... :)
Ahhh - sorry, Alastair, I missed that one! Silly me, my mate Rob has just built one and I have had a good drive of it!!! Oh yeah, that is a cool buggy, excellent build quality with a good out-of-the-box spec. Well worth the money and handles great, no weak points that I know of, the DF03 is so much better than the DF02. It is rather slow though, a faster motor is a must! If you can find one, it might be perfect for you. Keep checking Time Tunnel Models, he has stock coming in and out all the time. Rob picked his up from there a few weeks ago, and I just ordered a new Subaru '99 that just appeared on the site yesterday! Greetings from Birmingham! :-)
Hi Mark, new subscriber here...I have fond memories ogling the Tamiya kits at ED Models on the Stratford Rd. My Dad was a massive plastic modeller and we went to shows all over....But they were always too expensive for me to ask for one. Now I'm thinking of getting into the hobby with my son and wondering if the TT02B is the best entry point? Been watching loads over the past few weeks and brain is a bit of a mush now. Will mainly be for use in park, up at the lickeys on the dirt tracks or grass (for me anyway)...although I'm thinking he may want something to take on the BMX track or skate park. Will this do all that or should we get two different types? Have seen a lot on other channels about BangGood specials like the WLtoys range etc...but it feels tamiya is more in my blood. Any help appreciated...I did have a look at the Tamiya forum but was a little overwhelmed. Cheers
Hi Michael - thanks for the sub mate! I spent most weekends in the 80's drooling over the kits in Beatties, Birmingham. Yeah, I (or my parents) could never afford a Tamiya back then either, I had to wait till 1986 for my first, the Monster Beetle. If you want to start the hobby with a Tamiya, the TT02B is excellent, quite easy to build, good handling and pretty robust, not too expensive, either. Certainly at home on dirt and grass and a dirt/gravel BMX track. However, I wouldn't dare run any of my Tamiyas on a skatepark - I think it's asking too much of the plastic kits as the landings are too hard, breakages would be inevitable I think. Not really had any experience of the Banggood stuff, but some do look to be quite durable, they just don't float my boat! From what you have said, the TT02B is the best Tamiya to start with IMHO. Whatever you choose, I wish you and your son lots of fun! :)
@@MarkBryanRC ah, yes...Beatties was in the Palisades wasn't it, near the station escalators? Me and my Dad would go in there and Mom would go to Habitat...they used to have Scalextric and Hornby at the back if I remember right. They took a fair bit of my money over the years! Used to hang out there a bit with my mates before we all got into Warhammer stuff...quite the nerd! Did you ever see the RC races they used to hold down at Cofton Park? Lowhill lane, near the Austin? I think it was there and at the Town and Country show I could just watch for ages. Have pulled the trigger on a WLtoys buggy for my son to test the water, but I'm going to have a look at some Tamiya buggies, probably go for either the TT02B or the Dark Impact...although the Comical Hornet looks a load of fun too...maybe save up a bit at get one of the CR-01 trucks...oh boy, I can see how this can become a slippery slope!! :P
Yup, you got it mate, the Palisades it was! Oh yeah, I remember the Habitat shop too! Missed out on the Cofton park stuff, what a shame! Sounds so cool. I hope you have a good time with the WLToys buggy, lots of folk swear by them. Oh yes, this Tamiya addiction sure is a slippery slope - I reckon if you start, you won't be able to stop! Cheers, Michael! :)
I would certainly recommend the TT-02B!! 👍👍 I mentioned to you over a year ago, about converting my TT-02 into a Buggy! In my case, I'm never going to have that Car the way I want it.... never going to find or afford the Body I want. So for the cost of a couple of Parts Trees - I can have a TT-02B!!! 😁 Now that I've gotten a close look at your Buggy, you have the same FAT Plastic Dogbones that I have, just longer! You and Rob were talking about how well the Dogbones wear, for "Plastic"... But they're not really Plastic, are they? They're FRP - and that Fibreglass in the mix makes them stronger than Aluminium!!! Hence the long, hard life. So... To convert mine, I need A Arms, Turnbuckles and longer Dogbones. And likely a different Bulkhead. I've fitted CVDs in front. That may be tricky, because I'm sure I no longer have the front outer Cups. Shocks are also no issue. I've got several 90-100mm Shocks from my Trucks. SMOOTH too! And UNLIKE Cars and Trucks, Buggy Bodies are cheap as chips. This can happen! I can highly recommend the Yeah Racing Steering Rack Kit. ZERO SLOP!! Fully Ball Raced. I love them. Also GMade Aeration Shocks. Some on the TamiyaClub Forums said were nearly as good as top line TRF Shocks!! Won't break the Bank either. You know, I always thought that the DF-01 was just the Buggy variant of the TT-01. The bits in the middle sure look the same. 😲 MAYBE it was, and Tamiya just gave them a different classification. Maybe I'm dead WRONG!! 😜 Anyway, I'm rambling! BIG NEWS today!! 😁 Please check out my replies to your Comment on my Video. It will fill you in. 😉 Thanks my dear Friend, for a most convincing sales pitch!!! 👌 Have an amazing Weekend!! Carmine ✈🚂🚙
Cheers, Carmine! Sounds like you have a cunning (M-chassis) type plan! Hope you can get one together soon. And GREAT NEWS! Hope you get some sleep in this morning, you truly deserve it! :))
Thanks Mate!! I got a LOT of sleep. 😲 About 20 hours. I guess I really needed it!! The M05 is making some headway... but I still desperately need those two 5mm Gearbox Shafts. Completely dead in the water without.... I feel bad, a very nice Guy on the TamiyaClub Forums sent me Wheels and Tires, BUT they're 1.9s... I thanked him of course, but they're entirely too big. 😞 Making my usual array of "non standard" Mods... I'm adamant about NOT having Body Posts sticking out of the Rear Window!!! So I've been concocting a Magnet Mount for the Rear, and decided I'm going to Cut out the Rear Window with holes in it, and gluing a Lexan Sheet in its place. 😲😉 I've got the whole Steering sorted - with SCRAP Axial SCX10 Bits!!! Including learning that an Upper Axle Link from the SCX10 is the SAME length as the Tamiya Link, from Servo to Steering Rack!!! 😁😁😁 Stronger too. I want this DONE so badly. It's WAY too HOT to walk the 3/4 mile to the nearest spot I can run my Crawlers... But the M Machine I can simply walk out my Door and run her in the Courtyard!! 😊 Bryan is Mandie's FIRST Baby to look like his Father! I mean OK, he's only 2 days old... But where Greyson and Lukas have Blond hair and Gray/Blue eyes like Mom.... Bryan has Black hair (and lots of it) and Hazel eyes like his Daddy. Mandie is recovering, but still in Hospital for monitoring. 😞 Because of bloody Covid19 - NOBODY is allowed to visit her, except her fiancee!! 😠 I am finally putting my foot down! She's having her tubes tied!! She's almost 30, now has 3 boys AND PKD! This Delivery was a huge risk for her. I'm NOT losing another Daughter! Thankfully, her Kidney function has been improving. If you're interested, Steven sent me 3 more Covers, one an attempt at proper Heavy Metal!! 😲 I hope your Weekend was great!
Glad to hear you got some well deserved rest. Must have been quite a time, happy to hear Mandie is doing well and Bryan sounds like a cool little dude! Always up for a few tunes, mate. I like the sound of what you have done and are planning for the M05 - if you can't get the 5mm shafts - how about finding some M5 studs or bolts with just the thread on the end and cutting to size with a hacksaw? A local hardware store or car parts shop might even have some M5 bar that could be used? Just a thought mate, needs must! :)
For Starters Mate....... Lukas is definitely MY GRANDSON!!!! 😜😁😁 He just turned 1, 11 days ago. This Morning I get a Video from Jeremy (Daddy). We think Lukas somehow figured out that he's now the "middle child" (something I had advised them BOTH about when they were discussing a third Kid, last year).... Anyway, the little Guy who's been dragging his belly all over the place, GOT UP this Morning and WALKED across the room!! 😲❤ Now of course we never really know what goes on in a Baby's Head.... But it really seemed like his thinking was "NEW BABY? I'll teach HIM to steal my thunder - I'm Walking!" Again, HUGE speculation, but he's had NO desire to walk before this morning. He's already a bit moody, like his Dad. I hope he doesn't get hit with "middle child syndrome". It's actually a THING. At least I don't have to worry about Greyson... He IS my Grandson!! 😁 He's bold, brash, centre of attention and a huge flirt!! I'm sure HE don't feel threatened.... He's well liked, without trying!! Geez! Now I'm worried about how the two younger brothers with handle what's not even going to happen for another TEN YEARS!! 😲😲😲😲
5mm Steel or Aluminium Rod for the Gearbox Shafts is an a top tip - I should have come up with!!! But thanks SO much Mukka!! Now I just gotta find something to CUT it with. Hopefully this M05 will excite everyone as much as it has me so far!! Not building a full stop Racer - but this will be quick!!! I'm even Racing on the Mini RC Circuit!!! 😁
You should! Thanks for the comment - at the price, this is a great value Tamiya right out of the box. But if you really want to go for it, there are so many hop-ups available it's hard to know where to start! Have a great weekend! :-)
Cheers, Mark! It really is tough, isn't it? I have hit trees at top speed (too many times to mention!) and never broke a thing! Awesome buggy. Thanks for the comment, enjoy your weekend, Sir! :)
I see ur respond in my messages. Somehow I cant open it. But thanks for the info. In the video u havent spoken about bearings. Is it wise to change them? Or how long will it take before the plastic ones are gone usually?
Hi Ian - sorry but I'm having big issues with messages at the moment, hope you get this one! Yes, it is very wise to install metal ball bearings, they are cheap and it's not worth running with the plastic bushes. It takes a while for them to wear, but they create friction that slows the car down! All the best from Mark...
Hi Adam - cool, you got one on order? I need to get that Plasma Edge - I hope you are right and they are back in stock next week - fingers crossed! :-)
I prefer the look of the Neo Scorcher but beggars can’t be choosers at the moment. I was informed after I ordered a Neo Scorcher that it was out of stock but they made some calls and have told they can get me a plasma edge sometime next week.
I hope you can get the new RC - yes I love the looks of the Neo Scorcher, but I already have two, so the Plasma Edge will be a little different TT02 for me! All the best from Mark... :)
You already have two TT02B but want another? 🤣 I’m just waiting for the last bits to finish my TT02R kit which is my first RC since selling my mardave cobra many moons ago. I’m already promising myself that I’m not going to go as mad with the blue shiny bits on the buggy build but we’ll see how that turns out.
Yeah, well the other TT02 is my sons! For the price of replacing wheels, tyres, those worn dogbones and the tatty shell, it will probably be cheaper to get a new one and just use the old one for hard bashing! Type-R? Nice! Oh yes, it's hard to resist those shiny blue bits! :)
Hey do you know the vanquish is coming back out in December and the 2011 avante. There's some confusion about the decal sheet for the vanquish up there thinking of making a special decal sheet for it based on the mini version of it.
@@MarkBryanRC how is the motor attached? does it only have two places to screw down? like the tamiya blackfoot xtreme? which only has two pinion sizes.
@@bartsshorts Well that depends! The better performing buggy is probably the FTX, as for longevity, I don't know about the FTX. Probably Tamiya for the heart, FTX for the head!
@@tyrincoles4713 I'd take a look at the other buggies entered in those races to get an idea of what to choose. All I know is that you can make these TT02B's pretty fast!
Oh there is a spectrum lifey battery that's coming out it's a 9.9 voltand I think the lifey batteries do not have the same problem as the lipos. Please consider to run in your.
@@MarkBryanRC I think you should do a custom tt01 with 2 motors brushed ie 2 x johnson 4 hole and 2 gearboxes. Use a touring peugeot body shell to finish in yellow with blue mirrors and spoiler. Please :D
Yeah, but you don't need to waste money, it works fine without - I don't earn much money so I have to be careful with what I buy. :) Most of the hop-ups I have are Birthday or Christmas presents from Rob or my family.
Hmm I doesn't like the Tt02b chassis - too much plastic for the money and no oil shocks so I think a dt03/dt02 with oil shocks is the better choice if someone can't invest much money.
Hi Sven! Ohhh - a little confusion? Sometimes, plastic is good, stronger than steel in some cases! With the oil filled shocks, this is a great handling buggy, and a good price for a 4WD RC! Have a great weekend! :)
I really appreciate you watching my videos, even the old ones again! Cheers! 😎🙏
@@MarkBryanRC They've honestly still got value!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for the kind comment. We'll do our best! :)
I love my Neo Scorcher, my first radio-control car!
I agree, this is one fantastic buggy! Thanks for the comment, have a great weekend! :)
Pete Wylie RC Videos
I seem to break something on mine every time I take it out, so it doesn’t get to go out very often.
Pete Wylie RC Videos
Thanks!
Good luck 😀
What a nice chat to enjoy on a Sunday morning with my coffee!😊 ☕️
I’ve never owned one of these; I’ll have to change that someday!
Very very nice i got a TT-02-B with all the eagle upgrades and all metal gears. Shes quite heavy now but totally worth it and awsome basher.
Yeah, the TT-02B is pretty awesome out of the box. ...and yeah, you should get yours out more often :))
No the shocks on my Neo Scorcher were definitely equipped with the plastic pistons, with 1.2 and 3 holes to choose from.
@@NordicRC Ahh - so many builds, so many shocks! But yes, when they are right, they are very good indeed! Sleep tight, too, Mikael :)
@@MarkBryanRC was my first upgrade on tt02 , then sold that one and bought 2 tto2 s types and that was the first upgrade on those too ... :P
Yup - I put one straight on my Type-S, too. At about a tenner for the shaft and alloy joints, it's one of the cheapest Tamiya hop-ups you can get! :P
@@MarkBryanRC both mt tto2 s types are gathering dust now , since i started rock and trail crawling i have lost interest in racing this is so much more relaxing
@@theeviloneohyes Don't blame you mate, I always use my RC time as a form of relaxation - a great way to forget the real world for a few hours!
Nice! I always liked that the tt02 was such a agile chassis. I think I trimmed my rally cars Arms for more clearance. Nice showing of the chassis.
Right on, Steve! Yeah, I think I should have shaved the A-arms too, now I have bevelled drive cups! Cheers for the kind words, bro!
Mark Bryan RC thanks for the info and advice Mark , can’t wait to get mine .
@@ericwood2790 A pleasure, Eric - enjoy!
@@MarkBryanRC Yes indeed. It gets jumped every time he uses it.
@@MarkBryanRC yeah definitely helps, I got the fasttrax ball bearing one and is much more precise 👍
Cheers - I'll get one of those - the Tamiya one is way too expensive!
I have one new in box, yet to get it out and build it......life gets in the way mostly. looks great though!!!!!
(Fun in this part of the World)
I obviously haven't seen it yet, as I'm locked in under complete quarantine! 😬🤮😪 Cindi said that the box is only about 2 inches square, so it might be the right size!
I'd LOVE to get a 10.5t Brushless, and try out a few Cars...

Great video. Glad I stumbled across it. This is going to be my first RC.
Thanks very much for the nice comment - You won't go wrong with the TT-02B! :)
Could you give the reference of your nice brushless motor? Have you changed the gear also? Nice review indeed.

@@elmanitasdeplomo Yep, that makes a lot of sense! The Type R is a good kit, as is the Type S! Have fun! 👍
@@MarkBryanRC similar ground clearances?
Hi - the DT does have a bit more ground clearance, but the stock springs in the back are way too soft and it bottoms out easily. You can improve the TT by using the inner shock mount holes on the lower wishbones.
@@MarkBryanRC thanks mark, helpful as ever! It will prob come down to which he likes look of the best :-) good to know both good options

The Neo Scorcher was the first TT-02 i bought after i started with RC's again in 2014.
Now i have 13 TT02's but only one of them is a B version.
I've run loads of packs with mine too but nowhere as you guys :)
The title reminds me of a Carwow video :) He always ask at the end of a review: Should you buy one ?

Hello! Is the servo moving the steering on it's own? If it is then it sounds like you need a new servo!

Hi Mark. Finally got hold of one! Can you suggest a mild brushless motor to go with the Tamiya ESC? Cheers.
Hi Gaz - great news on your new addition! A 13.5T sensored is a good compromise, I have used many Turnigy Trackstar motors with great results. Also those cheap non-branded blue anodised sensored brushless motors all over eBay are cheap (about £20) and do a good job. :)

That setup sounds just perfect, Ian! Good you got the old hornet going again, yeah, these Tamiya's keep on going with a little TLC!
@@MarkBryanRC Many thanks Mark, that's wonderful information, cheers. Greetings from Cardiff!
Mark I meant to ask your opinion regarding the Dark Impact too? Cheers
@@MarkBryanRC Many thanks Mark, best wishes!
Hi mark, another good explaining vid👍👍
Glad you think so, Fons! The TT02B is a great chassis! Have a good weekend, my friend! :)
I mentioned to you over a year ago, about converting my TT-02 into a Buggy! In my case, I'm never going to have that Car the way I want it.... never going to find or afford the Body I want.
So for the cost of a couple of Parts Trees - I can have a TT-02B!!! 😁
Now that I've gotten a close look at your Buggy, you have the same FAT Plastic Dogbones that I have, just longer!
MAYBE it was, and Tamiya just gave them a different classification. Maybe I'm dead WRONG!! 😜
Anyway, I'm rambling! BIG NEWS today!! 😁 Please check out my replies to your Comment on my Video. It will fill you in. 😉
Thanks my dear Friend, for a most convincing sales pitch!!! 👌
Have an amazing Weekend!!
Making my usual array of "non standard" Mods...
I'm adamant about NOT having Body Posts sticking out of the Rear Window!!! So I've been concocting a Magnet Mount for the Rear, and decided I'm going to Cut out the Rear Window with holes in it, and gluing a Lexan Sheet in its place. 😲😉
I've got the whole Steering sorted - with SCRAP Axial SCX10 Bits!!!
Bryan is Mandie's FIRST Baby to look like his Father!
I am finally putting my foot down!
I hope your Weekend was great!
He just turned 1, 11 days ago.
Now of course we never really know what goes on in a Baby's Head....
But it really seemed like his thinking was "NEW BABY? I'll teach HIM to steal my thunder - I'm Walking!"
Again, HUGE speculation, but he's had NO desire to walk before this morning.
Great video mate, yes definitely worth getting one even though I don't own one myself but any of the Tamiya TT series are worth owning 👍😉
Totally agree, Lee! Thanks for tuning in, dude - appreciate it. Hope you had a smashing weekend! :)

Appreciate your videos. Thanks.
So nice of you to say. Thank you! :)
Nice overview, I am tempted to get one now :)

Im newb, bought this one. Where do u buy the upgrade parts?
I see ur respond in my messages. Somehow I cant open it. But thanks for the info. In the video u havent spoken about bearings. Is it wise to change them? Or how long will it take before the plastic ones are gone usually?
Hi Ian - sorry but I'm having big issues with messages at the moment, hope you get this one! Yes, it is very wise to install metal ball bearings, they are cheap and it's not worth running with the plastic bushes. It takes a while for them to wear, but they create friction that slows the car down! All the best from Mark...
Thanks! Let the RC fun begin=)
Cheers! Hope you enjoy it! :D
Yea i did. For atleast an hour haha. My motor or ESC is broken. I didnt see a little pool of water in the grass. Rookie mistake I believe =)
Great video. Thank you.
Glad you liked it! Thanks for taking the time to drop a comment - much appreciated! 😎👍
Too late Mark it’s already ordered, plasma edge should be in stock next week
Great overview boys. I haven't run my Chrome Plasma yet. It's too pretty lol 😄👍
Cheers, mate! Don't blame you, it is a lovely looking buggy - definitely don't want to be scratching it! Laters, Derek. :)
Hey do you know the vanquish is coming back out in December and the 2011 avante. There's some confusion about the decal sheet for the vanquish up there thinking of making a special decal sheet for it based on the mini version of it.
Yeah, I heard about the Vanquish re-re, but I won't be getting one :-/
Nice video mark!
Glad you enjoyed it - Thanks very much! :-)
The stock suspension are waaaaaaay too low for a buggy. I chucked on a Tamiya Alumunium buggy dampers and it sits much higher and rides better.
I totally agree! As you can see in this video, I raised mine as far as the drive cups would allow, and yes it does ride better. Cheers!
can the pinion be changed size?
Yeah, I have a 22T pinion in mine, stock is 17T. :))
@@MarkBryanRC how is the motor attached? does it only have two places to screw down? like the tamiya blackfoot xtreme? which only has two pinion sizes.
@@bartsshorts It fits onto a removable motor plate with lots of holes for mounting the motor, it's also reversible for more pinion options! :)
@@MarkBryanRC ok, between the Tamiya Neo Scorcher, and the Ftx Outlaw, what one should i buy? for golf course jumps. lol
@@bartsshorts Well that depends! The better performing buggy is probably the FTX, as for longevity, I don't know about the FTX. Probably Tamiya for the heart, FTX for the head!
Brilliant!
Thanks very much! 👍😊
Can you also consider a Tamiya dirt tuned motor for one of your next builds and review it?
Cheers, Brad - send me one and I'll gladly review it! :))
Is this good for racing
It really depends on the class you are racing it in. If the other buggies are of a similar price/spec, then yes! :)
Novice buggy is what I want to race it in
@@tyrincoles4713 I'd take a look at the other buggies entered in those races to get an idea of what to choose. All I know is that you can make these TT02B's pretty fast!

Tamiya TT02B Buggy Review - Should You Buy One? Obviously its amazing fun.
Haha 😄 yeah I should have just said that and made a very short video!!! 😅 👍
@@MarkBryanRC I think you should do a custom tt01 with 2 motors brushed ie 2 x johnson 4 hole and 2 gearboxes. Use a touring peugeot body shell to finish in yellow with blue mirrors and spoiler. Please :D

Each to his own! The screws are actually JIS. 😎👍
Maybe you should have tested the tto to be against the xv-01 to see which one handled better. Lol
LOL!!! :P
Stay away from Fastrax. Get Tamiya hop ups where you can or yeah racing.
Thanks for the advice! Cheers! :)
You know there's a DF01 chassis that's similar to that.
Brad, I have a DF-01 - it's nothing like the TT02, but it is almost exactly like a TA-01 :))
You know Tamiya makes an aftermarket fan for that speed controller.
Yeah, but you don't need to waste money, it works fine without - I don't earn much money so I have to be careful with what I buy. :)
Most of the hop-ups I have are Birthday or Christmas presents from Rob or my family.
Hmm I doesn't like the Tt02b chassis - too much plastic for the money and no oil shocks so I think a dt03/dt02 with oil shocks is the better choice if someone can't invest much money.
It does have oil shocks. Do you not listen to the video
@@leehurst6922 Indeed my mistake! Shame on me!
@@svenmaier2402 lol
Hi Sven! Ohhh - a little confusion? Sometimes, plastic is good, stronger than steel in some cases! With the oil filled shocks, this is a great handling buggy, and a good price for a 4WD RC! Have a great weekend! :)
Hi Mark. Finally got hold of one! Can you suggest a mild brushless motor to go with the Tamiya ESC? Cheers.
I think I got this message twice, Gaz! :)
