Poor hop. I actually like him. He started off being convinced that he would become the next champion but after bede beat him hop started to look down on himself. Also, although he's a "friendly" rival, he is also competitive.

Just imagine your rival being allowed to beat you, having different dialogue based on the win-loss, and at least a leveled up team. After watching TyranitarTube's "Sun Extreme Radomizer" walkthrough I'm shocked how such a simple change can make an average game so much better.

I love how literally no one cares about you stopping the Apocalypse, becoming the Champion and capturing the dogs of legend. They just don't care.
To be fair you can do the DLC as soon as you can access the wild area, so like lvl 10 pokemon
I mean most Pokemon Games rarely aknowleged you as the Champ and preventer of a catastrophy caused by legendary Pokemon
It's two fold: The writers don't care about writing the player as the champion and hero of the apocalypse, so the characters by extension don't care about the player character's status as champion
No this actually isn’t it. The people in the dojo don’t know you’re the champion because they don’t have access to tv because mustard hogs it. The one who actually knows hat you are the champion is Mustard because he saw the news on the tv. There’s dialogue in the game to prove this as well.

I feel that. The rivals started going downhill at gen 3 when the rivals stopped hating you.

Wouldn’t it be funny if they literally made an npc your rival? Like, he’s a normal dude afraid of Pokémon, and slinks in the background and occasionally watches you and your other rival fight. And whenever you fight him, for some reason he always places berries and healing items on his Pokémon, and always recalls them back in fear. Just a sad npc who always loses to you in fear and in pithiness, as he doesn’t want to lose a rival/friend like you because he never had any friends. And he dresses like a nobody to not get bullied by other trainers and to be just the same as other trainers, to be your stepping stone. But say, after an event, like getting his Pokémon stolen or beat down harshly to the point it can no longer batttle,he decides to become a little stronger out of his Pokémon’s need to be safe as it’s weak, and to buy the funds so the Pokémon’s hospital bill can be paid and for it to heal properly. I don’t think we necessarily need a douche rival, we just need reasonable stories to back up a rivals behavior and make them look more humane. Kinda like Silver.
Alright, before you start with the whole "the rivals actually hate me" the rivals before gen 3 didn't *properly* hate you. Blue was an asshole, sure, but even after you wipe the floor with him, he still gives you friendly advice, and "smell you later" is more of a friendly insult than one aimed to hurt. Silver comes close, but not quite. Initially he seems to hold contempt toward you and them he may see you as the reason for his seeming inadequacy because he cannot beat you, but that doesn't really qualify as *hate*.
@@romanscum5678 Still, those two had way more character than gen 3 onward. They acted like proper rivals not just friends or enemies, they had a personality. After gen 2, your "rivals" are either childhood friends, or people that instantly become friends with you, and fight you because "oh i wanna see how strong you've become tee hee xD" and after you wipe the floor with them they are like "aww woopsie, guess I lost :P". Like, cmon, I just demolished your shitty team, shouldn't you be more upset that you just got fucked?
The fact that Pokémon has managed to survive this long without really changing at all both amazes and terrifies me.
That's the power of a established IP it can sell what ever by name alone.

The main gameplay would have to stay mostly the same otherwise competitive players would have to start all over with learning the rules. Changes like abilities and natures probably weren't too difficult to adapt to but to completely change up what made pokemon gameplay so popular would be a bad idea.
i'm disappointed that pokemon has become one of the best selling switch games, given how seemingly so little effort was put into it's development

@@Desbug A bit late but it isn't manditory at all. It's just an extra way to increase friendship, a mechanic that has existed since gen 2.

Honestly, those candies are amazing. One of the best additions to the game. Takes so much grinding off one's back.
I only had to raise mine to level 30-35. No candy either.

I was so bored I had the game on mute and was just watching RUclips, so I barely heard the music, but I hate how the music tried to be intense, even tho the game is easy, for example cynthias battle, the music is intense and menacing, it gets scarier has the battle continued , but in sword and shield no music matched the situation

While I'm here, you can just use EXP Candies to easily get Kubfu to Lv. 70. You don't need to manually grind out those levels.
He'd still need to grind to get the candies, though.

I mean, the fact that together he and his wife's names make "Honey Mustard" is no accident, but that might not have been their entire thought process which is reassuring, because originally Mustard's name was my biggest problem with the DLC.
