Wonderful instruction! I've been watching macreme videos with nothing but frustration. Until your video popped up. Thank you very much, you are appreciated.
I cannot tell you how much I appreciate your easy to follow step by step instructions! This video is a must watch for all the TRUE macrame beginners. Thank you! Fabulous instructor !
Seeing the square knot, I realized that's the knot that everyone uses to make paracord bracelets... And you finally explained and showed it in a way that my brain can follow.
I too have a brain reversing everything, Left and right, up or down I have to exercise 1 million times:) for the most simple things. The good thing is once I got it the technique stays:)
I'm pretty sure that's actually a really bad way to wrap parachord, in terms of actual use, aside from looks. You have to knot paracord in a way that is able to be undone in a single pull, not sure if you can do that with the square knot.
99% of people use paracord bracelets for decorative purposes only, so this is actually a great way to make them, paracord is most often just a material among others. Besides, the first two weaves aren't that hard to take apart at all.
@@vulcanswork I am exactly the same. What looks like behind, to me looks like in front, up, down, left, right, top, bottom. Ugg so frustrating. This great, but different color cords would help even more.
Andy Newcom, you rock!! You took the time to go slowly so it would make sense, which it has. Since you're such an amazing person and teacher, how about more complex knots in the future? ~ heather :)
I am so glad I found your tutorial for the foundation of the macrame knots. It is very clear and the way that you teach which is awesome . Thank you for sharing.
this video is very good for beginners and for someone like myself starting macrame again after 35 years. I like the size of the material used so that you could distinguish between the different loops.
Great tutorial, Andy. My wife and I were big into macrame back in the mid 70's and got to the point where we created some pretty complex and large pieces. Glad to see it's slowly but surely making a comeback.
I ' ve never seen such tutorial of Macrame for beginners like your video , I would say you are the best one that I found . I really appreciate what you share to us , thank you !
I used to do macrame in high school and can remember hooking my cord to a kitchen cabinet knob and having a plant hanger in an hour, knowing the knots. Knowledge forgotten I knew RUclips wouldn't let me down. But your using rope to show us a large version was GENIUS! Thank you so much. I'm really hoping you have demos of more knots thank you SO much. Subscribed!
Thank you Andy! You took the time to go slowly for us beginners and explained it in a way that sinks in to our brain. You are now my go to video guy! Thank you so much!
Love that you use Large cord! Even someone like me learned the basics just from watching your video, I turn off sound and just watch your movements. Dont know why someone didn't think of this before. Thank you
I have been trying to do this but no one explained it so easily and I am so thankful. I already made a few things just by watching Andy. Im so excited.
Finally understand what was going wrong with my hitch knots when I started going the other direction! Thank you so much for explaining this clearly and effectively!! You’re a great teacher would love to see more complicated knots from you!!
Thank you so much for this clear and simple video on the basic knots of macrame! Very educational. Nice close ups of how to do the knots. Instructor's voice is pleasant to listen to and doesn't sound like he's bored with what he's doing. It was honestly a great video that was so clear and precise that I honestly don't think I'll have to watch it again to remember how to do the knots. Great Job!
Thank you for showing us using the large dowel and rope. THANK YOU! I have already made several plant holders. My goal is to make something with a beautiful design to it.
Thank you so very much, I bet I've watched a couple dozen tutorials over the past three days. As I am desperately attempting to make a macrame plant hanger. Yet , regardless of the video, I simply could not see, nor understand exactly what or which cord to use at the end of the "4". I don't know if it was the agagerated cord size, or your method of explanation, but " by george I think I've got it". Seriously though, Thank you very much, I'm off to create, what I hope to be a beautiful plant hanger........ so excited :-) You're the best, very grateful, Barb
Thanks for this tutorial! I've been having a hard time finding a descent beginner tutorial! Either they move too fast, I can't see the ropes or there are no verbal instructions! The large ropes really help to see the process well!
Thank you Andy. Slow and easy! Most videos go through the steps so fast you can't catch on. Now I have confidence to do any project. I've seen more knots than these three, any videos on them?? Thanks again!!!
That is by far the best video I have seen explaining the macrame knots ☺ the cords were large and easy to follow, the explanation was steady and very well explained. Thank you! I am sure I can tackle it now. Please post other lessons, you're a great teacher.

You are a big help and inspiration. Do you have a video on making a plant hanger?I need to know how to measure the cord to get the right size planter you want to make. Again thank you so much. ☺😊

What a fantastic video! I had to find a quick five minute project to demonstrate teaching something outside of our music field and it worked so well and was very fun! Thank you for the great video!
Thank you for your awesome helpful video and describing the square knot as a "4"! I couldn't see how people were doing the "right hand square knot" in other videos. Your description of the "4" made all the difference :) I'm making my first macrame since the last one I made as a kid in the 70s when they were so popular :) You're so sweet & pleasant Andy! Thank you!
I was making macrame plant hangers in the early seventies! I loved it and totally forgot how to do it! Thank you for showing me how again!! I can’t wait to buy supplies and try it! Such a great video. 👍👍
You are an excellent teacher! Additionally, how you have your cords set up for demonstration was the best I have ever seen. I use to macrame in the 70's, but now I would like to get back into it. All my books on it are gone, so I started watching RUclips and your demonstration was the best so far. Keep up the great work!
