Im surprised that people dont know that they are to pay their premiums to the company. Not the agent every month. I guess he trusted his friend. Glad this story was shared.
I paid my auto insurance to my agent for years until I stopped using agents. Especially for an old person, that is not unusual- that is how it was done 40 years ago.
Back in the late 50s and 60s in southern states, agents would come to the house to collect minimal premiums. Those premiums, you were usually only a few dollars, I know because my aunt had one. Their first clue should have been that life insurance agents“do not” come to the home to collect premiums. This is why as our parents get older, we have to get involved in their finances. My heart goes out to the family.
Well in defense of the father who paid his friend because back in the day and not that long ago, insurance men came to the house for payment so it didnt seem unusual and especially from a friend. Now with technology we don't see the insurance man door to door but yes people used to pay the insurance man directly.
@kjhnsn7296 What? The receipt book that you buy at the dollar store? I can tell by the contract paperwork that it was fake to the tee. Would've done more research on this guy.
wow...what a horrible thing to do to anyone let alone a 'friend.' I've never herd of paying cash or even check payments for insurance. I t's been automatic deduction for the past 35 years for me.
Insurance is unique in that it is not unusual to have this type of a working relationship with the agent. Especially in the past. Today most would probably pay online or thru direct deduction from paycheck if Insurance is through work.
@warriorplutotrent3827 I am a life insurance agent we do not pick up premiums our commission checks come 9 months once the insurance approve. The client is suppose to Pay the insurance agent
Did the insurance company every send notices it was going to cancel/had cancelled? Did they ever get any paperwork at all that the contract had been written?
What have they honestly ever helped with? They form these chapters in major cities all over the U.S. and the U. K., gather people to scream and yell and make demands yet they literally help no one but those who are "in charge". You should 100% watch the documentary "The Greatest Lie Ever Sold" about BLM, the money trail is crazy. The only people that have benefited from BLM are the ones who started it, they bought mansions and helped trans organizations by using LLCs to funnel money into their friends and relatives pockets, nothing more. They basically laundered all the donated money by claiming donations to all these trans related organizations that were just covers, they just gave money to people they knew who were behind the front businesses in order to get more donations from the public. BLM is s scam, they have done nothing to help black people, nothing at all.
You can get a policy for less than that for a person 80 years old and with health conditions there are just time periods where the policy is contestable
THIS IS JUST EVIL GREED. Period

My father paid the agent every month. The guy came to the house to pick up the payment. That’s the way it was done years ago. This is so sad.
Insurance agent used to come to my grandmother’s house to collect the payments. Maybe they thought it still worked that way today.

No one SHOULD NOT be coming out of prison at any age. Prison is not right of passage.

There were receipts provided. Please keep up.

Sounded too good to be true. Life insurance > age 50 @$108 a month for someone who wasn’t that healthy to begin with doesn’t happen
You can get a policy for less than that for a person 80 years old and with health conditions there are just time periods where the policy is contestable
50 is pretty young for a $108 premium
Most scams are years old
Dad's premiums should have been on auto pay.

Horrible!!!!!🤬😰
Not ACA 😢 Mr. James
Awful!!!!!
Let me guess, the "agent" offered the insurance at a huge discount but only on the condition that it must be paid in cash.
