I recently saw something that said “when work is an idol, rest feels like a sin” and that hit me. We don’t have to grind ourselves into the ground.

Hhmm interesting because I actually feel the lord has been calling me to rest. Yesterday he literally told me to pick up an old Christian motherhood book that has been sitting on my cupboard for 6 months. I started reading and my entire soul felt peace, calm, rested and nurtured. My husband even noticed it. He said who is this new woman? You seem less stressed. It was true. I was actually allowing myself to rest, to nurture my feminine side instead of always being productive and busy which is masculine. He is teaching me to be softer, more present with my children, not always doing “jobs” tasks and keeping busy. It was causing me to feel stressed in my spirit which led to overwhelm, anger, questioning my experiences and my skills as a mother. I think the enemy can trick us into thinking we need to keep busy and productive as well.

Oh yes! And actually the worlds mindset is about work work work as much as you can. Our world is so busy! And GOD is the one who calls the human to rest! And it’s in SILENCE where we really can meet God. Where we build relationship with him („Be still and know that I am God“). When we rest… it’s sooooo important! And it was Jesus that told Martha to SIT DOWN. He praised Maria who was just sitting down and „being lazy“ (in Martha’s eyes).

Such a great reminder that the Lord calls us to also rest. Second, isn’t it so awesome how the Lord is working in all of us differently? I truly see how we are all fearfully and wonderfully made! ❤😊

It’s ok to practice self care on a regular basis. It’s important to do things that fill your cup like having hobbies outside of homemaking, mothering, pouring into your intimate partner relationship, and reading your Bible. Those can totally be a part of your self care as well but it’s important for you to take care of yourself and do things for you (others can benefit for sure but it still fills your cup doing it). This could be gardening, making bread, baking, horseback riding, knitting, pottery, reading books, working out, walking, dinner with friends, journaling, doodling, scrapbooking, puzzles, listening to podcasts, watching RUclips, etc. There’s a healthy balance.

    • @blissfullybecca

She says that those things like knitting, baking, etc. weren’t included in idling. I don’t think she is talking about never taking care of yourself. It’s more like we are wasting so much time that we are unaware of. At least that’s what I got out of it.

I think for me it’s opposite right now, I feel like I’m almost addicted to productivity and since I’m a mom I focus a lot on household tasks getting done and often my toddler has to be patient waiting for me to be done cleaning or whatever and I think I neglect her too much for the sake of that dopamine rush of ticking something of the to do list

I’m so glad I watched until the end! Not gonna lie… my face was like 🤨 for the first chunk. I was thinking “hmmm this might be the first time I’ve really disagreed with Milena here😂”. BUT I KEPT LISTENING and thank you for making the distinction between IDLE and REST. There is a difference and we should have rest! There is space for us to rest and that is not a sin! Thank you for this message, sister! I’ve been recently really wanting to get into hobbies that I find joy in! One of them is simply coloring, so I was doing a coloring sheet while listening to this video! I also want to crochet more and create more RUclips videos🫶🏽I find rest in these things without being idle!

I feel confused (overthinker problem lol)…. How can I really determine my rest from my idle if my rest sounds like someone else’s idle?! I guess I’m too new a believer to ‘hear’ much guidance from God (like do I not know how to recognize Him)?? My brain questions everything and I am always exhausted. But sometimes sitting still with coffee or RUclips videos feels great and others it feels guilty like any Second I’m not engaged with my kid (even if it’s to clean) I feel like not a good enough mom not teaching her enough etc

I wanted to share something and I’m going to quote this poorly, but something was said about how Satan knows that God‘s followers aren’t going to commit any major sins, so he tempts them to not do anything at all through laziness.
There was also a comment where someone mentioned being guided to rest more. And I think there’s an even balance in our life, and that it is important to look at how we rest. We should not be so busy that we do not take time to rest, and we should not be so lazy that we do not follow God’s commandments of sacrifice, service, etc..
Christ spent his days in the service of the Lord, but he also took time to rest.
Thank you so much for sharing! I love how boldly you come out and share God’s word.

Hi Milena! I was about 3 minutes into your video when I paused it and just began cleaning the bedroom I had been having on my heart and mind to clean up, I knew that it was something God had been wanting me to tend to sooner rather than later, your video helped make that clear to me pretty instantly. I don’t know if I would have tended to the room to the same capacity and detail I did tonight had I not come across this video. All I know is I have a clean room to enjoy myself in tonight and everyone knows how good of a feeling that is 😂 God is using you so incredibly and I pray that He continue to equip you with His wisdom and power to fulfill His will!!! Women of God are meant to help empower, be an example, and inspire other women of God and women everywhere - in small and big ways - it makes me so happy to see sisters in faith sharing the gospel and love 🩷 God is so good and He cares about the details, He doesn’t want us to waste time on foolishness or trying to numb ourselves. He gives rest and He also allows for ambitions and responsibilities 🙏

I had a dream a couple of nights ago. I hat a literall cup in my hand and someone offered me to fill it up with water. I politely declined and mentioned that it is already filled to the top. The person got kind of angry and rude for me being so self centered and not even taking the offer. While, again, stating that my cup is already full, I look down at it in my hands and it is completely empty. To the point where it is dry. No single drop of water. I quickly say "Hey im sorry you were right, I do need some water, can you fill my cup, please?" But by then the person had moved on to fill other peoples cups and didnt even listen to me anymore.

The topic with the phone depends. I know I spend more than an hour a day on my phone, but for sure not scrolling around.
I do SO MANY mum tasks with it. I have my grocery shopping list, I do meal planning, I buy used clothes for my three kids and me, I do drug store orders, I sign up for activities for my kids or activities at church, I plan dates with friends or play dates, I read important school and kindergarten e-Mails on it. I hardly ever use a laptop, so I do all of that ok my phone. Sometimes it annoys me that so many things only work online these days but what can I do about that. I try to do those things as often as possible when my kids are not watching, asleep, in school etc. or I communicate to them what I am actually doing.
And I also agree that it find it very hard to rest knowing how much there is to do, but I know I need it (33 weeks pregnant and stay at home mum with the 3 under 7).

Im so thankful for the gentleness and intentionality with which you speak. This is such a tough topic to approach with women and you did such a beautiful job through the entire video. Everyone struggles with different things, but I think many of us do struggle with phone usage as you mentioned and it really is usually a waste of our precious time. I am in a season of rest, about to give birth, and yet there were things I still needed to hear in this video. I can always do better things with my time, even while "resting". And I can take rest breaks when needed, while still not being idle. I struggle with balance. But thanks to your inspiration from the Lord, you helped me today to do more good than I thought I could or felt motivated to do. So thank you for pushing me and helping me to grow:) ♡

Sometimes I have episodes where the panic causes my heart rate to rise into the 120’s which only makes the anxiety worse. It’s paralyzing. Today was one of those really hard days. He can and He will.
Idk why this is coming. But learn to set boundaries in your life and stop saying yes to everything.
Do you struggle being a people pleaser?
Panic/ anxiety/ depression- is linked to also fear. Fear isn’t necessary being scared of something.
But scripture talks about “ perfect love cast out all fear”
When you get to feeling this way as the Holy Spirit to help you receive the perfect love and peace of Jesus!
Also yes you might struggle with these feelings. But don’t claim it as yours. “ my anxiety “ there is power in words. You can say something like. I’m struggling with this at the moment but I have faith/hope it’s gonna get better.
Pray ask Jesus what is the cause. Of this. Is it like I mentioned boundaries and being a yes person. It could be hormones.
Ultimately draw near during them times to Jesus.
Also sometimes it’s because He wants us to pray for someone else. Maybe they struggle with the same thing.
      Hope this helps. ❤
Iv been there to. Definitely trust Jesus call on Him.! Seek Him 😊

Thank you Milena ❤ Sometimes God speaks to me through my dreams, and I had JUST had a dream where me & my husband were watching TV before bed, eventually he told me he would be going to sleep and I stayed awake. Next thing I knew I was standing in the middle of the living room, in the dark, and about 7 hours had passed with me just standing there 🫣🫣 it was terrifying to see and it really woke me up to this same topic you're talking about here

Please make more video’s that can motívate us, thankyou so much. I really needed this. I have been in a bit of a rut, feeling no energy and overwhelmed. I feel like I do so much but not enough and that much of what I do goes in vain. When I think better I know that’s not true, I just need to be more positive again. These videos help a lot.❤

Please sister, take the rest you need and don't feel guilty. Burnout is a dangerous thing to happen and if you're overwhelmed with no energy feeling like you haven't done enough even though you're doing so much, that's the beginning of burnout.
That's why observing the Sabbath is a commandment, the Lord knows we need rest and He won't ever shame is for taking that rest. Seek the Lord and rest in His peace. I'll pray for you. 🙏

I was encouraged by you to do the New Testament in 90 days except I found a plan for 40 days and when I read the Matthew 12:36 verse I felt so convicted. I had been struggling with pp rage after my 3rd in 3 years and wept when I read it bc I had been so careless with my words and my tone towards my children and I imagined myself standing before the Lord having to give an account for the words I chose and my spirit was crushed. Thankfully the Lord is good and has given me a softer voice and has helped me tremendously with self control. He is so gracious and when I start to see my tone or words aren’t nice by His help and grace I’m able to immediately shift to kinder softer words. Thank you for your content and encouragement ❤️

Her very first statement is WHEN we use our downtime. Not that we’re not allowed to have downtime and rest. The way we use our downtime is important. Mindlessly scrolling, or drinking, or doing things to mentally escape is absolutely sitting idle.

  • @maggiesparks9829
    @maggiesparks9829 2 месяца назад

I see a lot of comments about rest. There is a difference between rest and laziness. I am actually someone who really struggles with laziness. And recently I have felt so overwhelmed and convicted by both laziness and busyness. And what I have learned through the word and the Holy Spirit is that when I’m disciplined it actually allows for more and better rest. A slower paced home where I’m not rushing my kids because we are late or I’m not overwhelmed and angry because the house is to much to manage or I don’t have clothes and I need to leave in 5 minutes. And the other half of that is in my laziness it lead to being overwhelm and so I would keep filling our schedule thinking that added different things would help and then I would veg out on my phone for hours trying to escape because it was all to much. and I realized it wasn’t that I needed to do more it was actually that I needed to slow down and take some things off the agenda and be more intentional in my homemaking.
I loved the quote that said “when work is an idol rest feels like a sin” because both work and rest can become an idol it’s when we try to use either one of them to fill or satisfy our hearts that it becomes an idol. But when we seek Jesus and are obedient to him he will provide rest in what he has called us too. He literally created the sabbath and yet his word warns against idleness. So I would say this is so unique to search the word and ask God to search your heart how it applies to you uniquely.

    • @maggiesparks9829
      @maggiesparks9829 2 месяца назад

Side note this also has to be led by the Holy Spirit because sometimes being “productive” is cuddling your kids. Sometimes it’s cleaning. Sometimes it is quit literally a nap like in a postpartum phase. It is about our hearts not necessarily what we are physically doing.

She means how do you use your time on your phone. Are you wasting time scrolling on social media or shopping? Are you using it to better yourself, ie watching sermons and listening to worship music. Work is work, and that's another topic, but as you can see, while her phone is recording her, she is not on it, she is doing her tasks. She sets time aside to work on her phone, she isn't just sitting scrolling. It's not a sin to be on social media or scroll for a few minutes, but if you are on your phone when your house is a mess, you're being lazy🫣

It's important to note that this doesn't mean everyone needs to work constantly. Rest and Sabbath are also important principles within Christian theology. However, the Bible consistently emphasizes the importance of diligent work and discourages laziness.
    Mark 2:27 states
"And he said to them, 'The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.'"

  • @katiegodinho2275
    @katiegodinho2275 2 месяца назад

There is a huge difference between rest and laziness. From reading the comments some people are confusing the two. Laziness is never having an urgency for work. For the lazy, you're putting off work to sit and watch videos or sleep when its not needed, seeing that something needs to be done but having disdain for it and choosing something more "fun" with zero profit. Then theres rest. A lot of us could use more rest. Those of us who have never ending to do lists and sprin our wheels trying to get them done and eventually start to feel burnout. We should have rested. Mary was resting by choosing Jesus' feet while Martha SHOULD have rested but do what so many of us do and thats get overly caught up in the work and then annoyed that others arent helping. My priest has been telling me to take more "me time" since my first confession. I havent. I wont. I dont feel like I can. I should rest.

Praying asking Jesus to take the desire from you.
If you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior it tells I’m in the New Testament that it’s the work of the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is our helper. In these things.
Falling completely in love with Jesus and running to Him every time the urge or desire arises.
Flee run from temptation! Setting boundaries. Knowing your weakness. Get rid of whatever or whom ever causes you to fall into sin.
You can’t flirt with sin. Our flesh is weak. You build yourself in faith through the Bible.
Get involved in your church be around other women. Or even online Bible study’s.
Learn and want desire for Jesus to fill the voids in your life/walk.
      Do studies on lust ect.
Lust is a feeling- so take it captive before it turns into sin.
Also being fully honest with Jesus.
Hey Jesus I really feel like doing this sin right now and need your help to take the desire away. Help me run from it. I want to live a lifestyle to please you.
Even praying that something comes up to keep you from that sin. That God make it impossible for you to even attempt to sin in that area.
      Remember we gotta PRACTICE RIGHTEOUS!
Lust might come 10x a day at you. But each day you work out your walk with the Lord. The Holy Spirit helps you then say it becomes 3x a day. And so forth.

    Any advice?
My brain keeps thinking over and over again to leave my bf and when I think about that I get this deep dark pit in my stomach of anxiety idk how to explain it but it makes me loose my appetite and have soooooo much anxiety like bad at times like it doesn’t feel right. And I also have thoughts saying that in order to be closer to God I have to leave him (but our relationship is Godly me and my bf don’t sin together) we’re actually planning to get married soon. I think this is the enemy trying to trick me into leaving a Godly relationship that’s growing, but I also need to remind myself that God let’s us choose our partner as long as your partner is a believer and you two aren’t living in sin when I do read the Bible I think to myself the qualities of a Godly man and my bf is still growing into those things and it makes me happy but then I always worry well what if that’s not enough to God what if God is gonna make me leave him.?
Something that has given me peace of mind and taken away my anxiety about this is I was driving and I was thinking about the situation and I kind of just had a thought of my bf is on his own spiritual/faith journey and he’s growing at his own pace with God and my pace might be faster and his pace might be slower so maybe that’s why I’m feeling uneasy bc we’re both growing.
I also keep thinking of my Christian ex and it’s driving me crazy. This has been this way for 6 months now some months are better than others but I constantly think of him (my last bf I had)
