The words are from the Pesach Hagada; VEHI SHEAMDA means "And that has stood..."
"And [it is this promise] that has stood for our Forefathers and us.
For not just one enemy has stood against us to wipe us out.
But in every generation there have been those who have stood against us to wipe us out,
and the Holy One Blessed Be He saves us from their hands."

Interesting that it's actually phrased in the feminine--literally, "And she has stood for our ancestors, and for us..."

Seriously? In Hebrew every noun has a gender, and there is no "it". It is phrased as such that the promise (f.) has stood in our favor and God (m.) saves us from them.

A perfect tune for chorals. Otherwise I go for Requiems, Cherubini, or Shira and the like.
