    I will always love and respect Mat and is videos, I just feel like a topic this big deserves some more looking into, so let's do it

    I think he has a point though, I mean it's easy to say as an adult how violence without blood or gore or guns isn't that big of a deal but put your head in the mind of his son (4 years old I think) in all honesty I think a lot of what he says is purely for the sake of his kid and honestly, I think it's harder to talk on subject when I myself don't even have a kid. I mean i can't even imagine how he feels trying to slowly introduce ideas into his head to make sure becomes a kind grown adult. That early youth is very important.

      This is 100% fair, I'm not a father so I can get being more protective of your kid and what they watch. Still, it's a bit weird to write characters off because they’re violent but be perfectly fine with female characters fighting as well. Feels like it should be one way or the other. Also Ollie (who I think is around 6, still young but around the age where you can start thinking for yourself) has literally been shown playing FNAF which is a game all about child unaliving so I do question how Phineas and Ferb is too far, but I get your point

    This is a very interesting video which paid off! I really enjoyed the direction the video went. We'll miss you MatPat

    When MatPat mentioned Legos, I thought he was gonna bring up Emmet from The Lego Movie as an example, big missed opportunity to me.

    • @StripeTheSquid
      @StripeTheSquid  6 месяцев назад +3

      Emmet would've been a good one to bring up actually, he fits most of what Cyan lined out at the start, and the second film even tackles toxic masculinity

    • @Flowermations
      @Flowermations 6 месяцев назад

      @@StripeTheSquid Yeah, Emmet is so relatable for being so unapologetically himself and society hates him for not conforming to the norms, even when he is doing everything by the book they still reject him, no one can seem to make up their mind on what they want him to be. It gets to the point where after getting pushed down for so long, Emmet finally can´t take it anymore and he snaps which turns him into Rex Dangervest in an alternate timeline, plus getting stuck under a washing machine didn´t help him mentally. He would be a good first example to start with at the beginning of the video.

    Very good video. The comments mentioned some of the points you made, although as usual for your depth of media knowledge, you had a whole lot more to say on any one point. High quality Stripe content.

    Thank you for making this. I know Mat meant well with this video but I too thought some points he made were odd. Especially Phineas and Ferb cause honestly they’re some of the nicest characters in fiction

    • @StripeTheSquid
      @StripeTheSquid  6 месяцев назад +2

      Phineas and Ferb were some of the biggest victims of him being too hard on male characters. He really over simplifies them, and I feel like if they were the exact same except female, they'd be praised for their creativity and kindness

    I feel like there’s an interesting discussion to be had about male role models and Shrek (not saying your video shoulda included that, just thinkin’ some thoughts about Shrek rn)

    • @StripeTheSquid
      @StripeTheSquid  6 месяцев назад +4

      No I agree 100%. Shrek is super interesting because he personality wise really isn't someone to admire (he's gross, rude, and mostly self serving), BUT the main thesis of the movie, exemplified by him and Fiona, are genuinely great messages of appearances don't matter and society shouldn't put you down for being you. I don't think he needed to be brought up here because he is a very split character, but his good sides are really important.
