With this song, you just wet your fingertips in the ocean under the name Dimash... React further to it and millions of Dimash fans will simply blow up your channel with hundreds of thousands of views and subscriptions. Dimash sings from classical to rap, he is full of surprises, have a good swim in this vast Ocean of pleasures. Do you remember the Diva song from The Fifth Element, a movie with Bruce Willis? In this film, the song of the alien Diva was made half with the voice of an opera singer, and half synthesized on a computer to show an alien voice so that human capabilities could not cover the range and jumps of this song, and so: Dimash sang it calmly, which proves that Dimash is an alien. When heard Dimash sing, I thought that he was not human. When heard what he said in an interview, realized that Dimash is more of a human than all of Us.

Te sugiero escuchar SOS, Olímpico, Sinfull passion, Across endless dimensions, Oceans over the time, El amor es como un sueño, Omir, y su obra maestra: Requiem: The story of one Sky, greetings from a Dear from Argentina 🇦🇷

This is from a 1970s rock opera called Starmania where the singers girlfriend has just died from a drug overdose which is why the final line is sleep child sleep.
Most of Dimash's songs are deep, questioning the meaning of life or pushing for inner change, even what may appear to be lighter pieces often have quite impactful lyrics. He doesn't take music or his platform lightly. He's a global ambassador for both the United Nations and The Congress of World Religions.
I think you'd really appreciate Omir, although he doesn't go for the stratosphere in that one, it's a autobiographical piece where he's thanking life which he both composed and wrote the lyrics.

Isn't it always so interesting to hear different interpretations of the song? I agree with Omir being next, because he wrote and composed it himself, and it's so personal.

The way I found to celebrate the majesty of Dimash's talent was to have written the following about him: If I were to rule the world, I would immediately add, to the universal declaration of human rights, another article (they would become 31) whose wording would next "All human beings have the right, at least once in their lives, to hear Dimash sing". I am a Professor and I believe that I have a special profession that allows me to transform the human heart and consequently the human society. I work with young people and young people need to have good references. I had been looking for someone for a long time, of whom I could speak to the young people I work with, as a good reference. That person should be young, a super talent, a super mega star in the art world and above all, because he is the most important, a good human person. I searched and never found anyone with these characteristics. Until, finally, I found this person and that person is Dimash. I had the opportunity to say this to Dimash, personally, when I was with him in Latvia where I went, coming from Portugal (there are 8000 km round trip), on the 7th of March 2020. In Starmania, his girlfriend dies but for me, taking it one step further, the last words "Sleep child, sleep" is about inner child. Being in a state of mind where you're not comfortable with yourself, dealing with depression or any other mental condition, you have the need to comfort the child we all have inside. Beautiful song and Dimash makes it more beautiful, as with all the songs he performs. About his name, it's not as in mashed potatoes 😁, but the "a" is more like as in "must". Now, tell us how and why Dimash makes you feel what you feel when you watch and listen to him. To get the meaning of this song, I advise you to go to Wikipedia and get the real meaning. It is not at all what you imagine. It came from the French rock opera "Starmania" which premiered 15 years before Dimash was born and is now his signature song. He opened with this song when appeared on the Chinese professional singing competition show, "Singer 2017." He was the youngest singer in the show's history, 22, and the only foreigner and a non-professional. The other singers knew nothing about him, not even what he looked like. They only knew that a young foreigner would be participating. He only spoke Kazakh, his native language, and some Russian. His first four songs were in French (SOS), Russian (Opera 2), English (The Show Must Go On), and Mandarin ( Autumn Strong). Dimash puts all of his emotions into whatever song he sings at the time, and makes you feel it. I look forward to more of your reactions and comments to Dimash and his music.

It’s a song from Starmania…it is a French-Canadian cyberpunk rock opera written in 1976 with the music score by Michel Berger and the lyrics by Luc Plamondon. In the opera the lead character is Johnny Rocket, and he and his beloved Christal have been fighting extraterrestrials who are trying to take over the earth for years. Realizing everything he cared about is now gone he began singing his S.O.S. It is a song of self-doubt about his life and whether he wants to go on living. At this point he wants to be taken up into the heavens. Starmania has been translated into many languages and has been performed in English by Tom Jones and many other famous singers. The song S.O.S. has been popular ever since it was written because I think it speaks to everyone’s self-doubt which we all feel at some time in our lives. Dimash performs this in French, which is the original language it was written in. Dimash makes you feel every single emotion the character is going through in the opera in his performance. Why do I live…why do I die. In many performances of S.O.S. he will drop to his knees just as Johnny Rocket does in the opera, weeping over his lost love while holding her in his arms telling her to sleep child. No one on the planet has ever sung this so perfectly as Dimash.

Thank you for discovering Dimash and welcome to a beautiful world of music. I liked and subscribed hoping for more Dimash reactions😊. And yes, no mashed potatoes. The pronunciation is like the a in part.
Dimash is a 30-years old singer from Kazakhstan and believe me, you’ve seen nothing at all. In my opinion you have discovered the best singer in the world.
He has perfect pitch and currently has a vocal range of 6 octaves. Not in one song (mostly anyway, but it does happen sometimes😅). However, if you include the notes he has sung live in his concerts so far, you get almost 8 octaves (7.7 from vocal fry C1 (B0) to the whistle register D8; this note is no longer on the piano). At least that's what he's shown us so far. And this in all registers (chest, mixed and head voice up to the whistle register). The transitions from one register to the other are so fluid that they are sometimes not recognized even by vocal coaches or professional singers.
His voice is the result not only of his God-given talent, but also of his almost 25 years of hard daily training. From the age of 5 he attended music school in his hometown of Aktobe. He plays several instruments like piano, dombra (a kazach instrument), drums, marimba and more. He has classical as well as contemporary vocal training and sings in different genres from opera to pop, jazz, Kazakh folk, ballads, RnB and he even raps a bit. And often he skillfully mixes several genres in one song. Mainly classic and pop, so he created a new crossover genre. And meanwhile in more than 15 languages. And at his concert in Almaty, Kazakhstan on September 23, 2022 he sang in 7 languages in one concert!
He sings no mainstream and is a completely independent artist. He is managed by his father Kanat, who founded his own company "DimashAli Creative Center". The logo can be seen at the beginning of many of Dimash's videos. Maybe that’s the reason you never heard of him yet. He doesn’t sell his soul to a music label. He doesn’t want to be dictated by money when he has to sing what, when, where and how.
Many of my favorite songs are in his native tongue. He is a nice, intelligent, respectful and humble person. He respects people regardless of their original, religion or profession. He truly loves his homeland Kazakhstan and his people with all his heart and always shows it with pride in many of his songs, concerts and interviews. At his concerts he tells the audience that he has given concerts in many countries and repeatedly emphasizes that he loves everyone in every country. And there are no bad nations (only bad leaders). And I absolutely believe this.
His concert in September 23, 2022 was in Almaty, Kazakhstan. It was so amazing and it lasts almost 4 hours. Believe it or not but he really gets better and better. Every time you think you know him and his art, that you've seen the best and that it's impossible for it to get any better, you realize you're so wrong.
He's very spiritual and thankful for the gift God has given him. But he also works very hard to constantly improve his vocal skills.
He said in an interview that he trains at least 3 hours every day, if necessary, it can be 10 hours to prepare for a concert. He loves swimming and also a lot under water. Maybe that's why he has this large lung capacity to hold the notes as long as he does. He is constantly his biggest competitior to get better and better. He is a real perfectionist. He's a singer you can't put in any box.
He sings almost every genre there is and likes to try new things. You can't compare him to any other singer on this planet. He has so many different music genres and styles. He loves Freddie Mercury, but also Michael Jackson, Lara Fabian, Luciano Pavarotti and Eminem and you can also hear that one or the other has an influence on some of his songs.
Every time you watch a new video, expect the unexpected. Even the covers he sings he makes his own and brings elements into the song that you would never expect. Don't be surprised if you get suggestions for songs you may have already seen. Dimash has different versions of many of the same songs. They are all worth seeing and always a little different. Not only can he sing perfectly and his performances are outstanding he's also an incredibly good actor. Check out his music videos. They are amazing. You think I’m exaggerating? No, I don’t think so😄.
He sang this song on his digital concert in January 2021 during the pandemic. He had to cancel his tour and did this concert for his Dears/fans. That’s why there was no audiende to be seen or heard.
SOS is a song in the French rock-opera „Starmania“ from 1978. The first who presented this song was the French singer and songwriter Daniel Balavione. And of course the language is also French.
The phrase „Sleep, child, sleep“ is sung in the musical as the character bends over the corpse of his girlfriend, who has committed suicide
SOS was the first performance of the China competition (in 2017) and was his first appearance in this show. The Singer is a show in China where only established singers are invited to perform. All the singers invited to this show are already well-known artists in China who have already won awards. Dimash was invited as the first foreigner as a wild card and the youngest in the history of this show. They became aware of him because he had already won some important competitions in Kazakhstan and Belarus, among others. He was still completely unknown in China. Actually, it was intended that he would only have 1 or 2 appearances. But it came completely different. When he woke up the next morning after his first performance of SOS he was a megastar in China and even found bodyguards outside his hotel room. SOS’ first video had 600 million views when it aired. He was just 22 years old at the time.
I think it was very difficult for him at the beginning. You have to imagine, until this competition in China in 2017 he never was alone. Dimash, like many other Kazakhs, has the tradition of living under one roof with the whole family all together. He lives with his grandparents, parents, a sister, a brother an other relatives in the same house. And now he had to go to China alone, didn‘t know the country, didn‘t know the language, didn‘t know the traditions or livestyle and up to that point he spoke (almost) no English, except maybe „Thank you“ and „My name is Dimash“. Only one interpreter came along and that at the age of 22. He was almost a kid to me then (my son is 21 so I can imagine…). The other competitiors might not have taken Dimash seriously at first because of his age and that they didn’t know him but that quickly changed after the performance of SOS, as you can see. Through his honest, cheerful and open nature, he found friends very quickly. Contacts that still exist today.
If you want to see another awesome song than I recommend Stranger.
    Stranger: ruclips.net/video/lFsB5HVnmSA/видео.html
Here you can hear a large part of his vocal range, as well as an incredibly awesome Kazakh instrument. The Qobys. The man who often plays the Qkobys in Dimash’s performances is the best on this instrument and a good friend of Dimash. His name is Olzhas Qurmanbek. Stranger is one of my absolute favorite songs. I get goosebumps every time I hear it.
Stranger was written by the famous Russian/Ukrainian composer, producer and songwriter Igor Krutoy. His and Dimash's collaboration created true masterpieces. He writes songs that only Dimash can sing with his vocal range, such as Olimpico, Stranger or Ave Maria. You’ll often see him accompanying Dimash on the piano. If Igor Krutoy is there, the song was also written by him. The two have no contract. Their cooperation is based more on mutual trust. It’s more like a father/son relationship.
He wrote this song and others especially for Dimash’s wide vocal range. But you have to be careful with this song. It gets blocked a lot😐.
    Greetings and love from Germany👋❤️

0:30 Dee mosh - Coo-dye-bear-gin (like pin, men, sin, grin) 😊🤘 Now that you have entered the world of Dimash, music will never sound the same!! He sings in 7 octaves, 7 sub-octaves, 16 languages (he speaks Kazakh, Russian, and English fluently but, sings 16 altogether), and 9 different genres.
IMHO, he's the GOAT. There is absolutely no one on earth that sounds like him. His singing is absolutely gorgeous and he makes it look so easy!! 🤯 Welcome to the Dimash rabbit hole!
I recommend Sinful Passion, Smoke, When I've Got You, Olimpico, Stranger, Opera 2, Requiem: the Story of One Sky, Golden, Unforgettable Day, We Are One, Qairan Elim, Across Endless Dimensions,... to name a few, they are all fabulous!! 👏🙌🙏
    -------------
We Dears are definitely NOT exaggerating Dimash’s talent and that absolutely no one on Earth even comes close to his ethereal talent and grace.
He was born into a family of musicians, he began his professional learning to sing classical/opera at age 5 and he’s 30 now. Having said that, he sings so much more than opera & classical.
He cuts his very own path into the music world by combining genres, languages, scale of octaves into each song he performs. He is a truly remarkable artist that we are blessed to have witnessed and heard. ❤️👏🙌
This one is my very favorite. ❤️

I always thought the song is about suicidal thinking. Like someone standing on top of the high rise building, at the edge of precipice. Dimash kneels at the end looking down to the earth as he was leaving. “Sleep child sleep” means “now you can rest in peace, don’t worry.”

You are right about it not just being his vocal range. I’m a huge music fan, I like music in most genres and from different parts of the world. My music library is extensive. I first noticed Dimash videos being suggested a few months before I finally clicked on one of them to see why his name kept popping up. It was the most amazing reaction I think I’ve ever had to any singer - almost, as I sometimes say, a spiritual experience. His performance of S.O.S., from Singer 2017, was the first song of his I listened to and within those brief minutes, I was convinced that I’d discovered the best singer I’ve ever heard. I still believe it, now more than ever. He brings so much emotion to his what he does. It’s mesmerizing and of course, beautiful. I don’t know how to explain it, but I feel uplifted and more aware of our shared humanity after I hear some of his songs. (Of course, not all his songs are about serious things, but a good number of them are). I genuinely feel awe when I listen to Dimash. I often cry just hearing his voice because it’s so touching. I’m sure others will have informed you of his career highlights and such, so I won’t do that, but I did want to attempt to explain how he affects me. He seems like a genuinely good, kind, and humble person too and those qualities are so appealing in this often crass and self-centered world. Two performances I would recommend are the studio version of Ikanaide, a song he did in studio for the Tokyo Jazz Festival 2021 during the COVID restrictions, and a brief performance of You Raise Me Up that he sings with some children on a Chinese TV show. I don’t remember which one but a quick search should bring it up. Watching his gentleness with these sweet little kids is absolutely magical. Great reaction BTW.

@Therapist Reacts….. Thank you for a thoughtful and respectful reaction to this “calling card” song of Dimash’s.
For a good introduction to him , check out the 13 performances from the Chinese show I Am A Singer 2017 that introduced Dimash to the world. Don’t even make reactions, just enjoy getting to know him. The entry for Dimash in Wikipedia explains the show, lists the songs and how he placed. You might want to use G. Wu’s YT channel as she has English subtitles and very important back stories.
On second thought, maybe do a reaction for Adagio from round 6 . Dimash had scored quite low in round 5 with Uptown Funk and was singing for his life on the show. Only 22 years old and he gives this stunning performance!!!
Enjoy and hope you will decide to take the Dimash journey of discovery. 🤗🤗🤗

This song is a pearl of the French songbook: It is a French-Canadian cyberpunk-rock opera called “Starmania”, written in 1976 by Michel Berger (France) and with lyrics by Luc Plamondon (Canada) and immortalized in the voices of Daniel Balavoine, Diane Dufresne and Gregory Lemarchal. The theme of the song is depression: In the 2021 version, Dimash faithfully and brilliantly presents a sentimental and melancholy interpretation! As the singing decisions follow the original structure of the song, which serves to show the psychological instability of the afflicted character: From the chest voice to the head voice and then to falsetto, the author sought to show a broad need to overcome a moment of despair and the pretense of accepting to reach a higher perspective! Dimash, currently at his concerts, dedicates this song to his friends and acquaintances who have departed this world!

There is a video on YT somewhere showing Dimash at home with his family when he was about 18mths old, he was just about toddling and making his way to the TV and recorders to push buttons and his mum just called him pronouncing Di (not Dee) and mash (as in potato and not marsh) So you were correct when you second thought it. 👌👌😊

Welcome to the world of, undoubtedly, the greatest singer on the planet.
Dimash has found his Kazakstan Great Eagle Wings! Now flying high across the world and across every musical genre with hundreds of millions of fans from every country.
And, Yes, Dimash does have the biggest range of any singer, now, or in history, but its not about his range, nor his gobsmacking vocal skills, but you're right; it IS about his Storytelling ability.
Dimash says, he regards his voice as just one more instrument ( he plays several) that he brings 'in service of' the story of each song.
There is no one who does this ( thorougjly inhabits and delivers the story behind the lyrics) better than Dimash, except I believe the singer whom he greatly admires; Lara Fabian.
    Enjoy.❤

This was a 3hr LIVE digital concert for his fans during lockdown ✨🤍✨
🆘 The song itself is from Starmania a Canadian-French cyberpunk rock opera written in 1976.
👼🏻 Gregory Lemarchal was a young French singer who was the inspiration for DIMASH to sing 🆘
    “SOS d'un terrien en detresse"
Diagnosed with cystic fibrosis at a young age, Gregory defined all odds and won the fourth series of the singing contest Star Academy. He became an overnight sensation in France and went on to have a successful career. He was known for "La voix d'un ange"- the voice of an angel.
Gregory succumbed to his illness at the age of “23💔”
This video is a tribute to his memory. 💔❤️‍🩹❤️
So that there in no confusion as too “WHY DIMASH” sings this song. It is in the
“Tribute to Gregory” and his message. The meaning of the lyrics in Gregory’s life are what holds Dimash’s heart✨🤍✨

To me, many of his native songs sung in the Kazakh language are most touching. They often don't have the same fireworks, but the lyrics are beautiful (usually the translations are available on the video) and he sings them from the heart because it is his native language.
Try "Karagym Ai", the 2020 version, sung in a memorial for his teacher Kenes Duisekeev, who wrote the music, and who had recently passed away, or the official music video "Kairan Elim", which is a kind of prayer, sung for peace in his country and by extension for peace in the world. "Angel Love" is a recent one, I've read he sang it in remembrance of a fan of his who died before she could see him in concert.
The Dimash fandom website has backstories to the pieces (there are other places you can find info about his songs)--read the lyrics, either before or during the pieces to help you understand the full message. Dimash really lets his heart and soul come out in every piece he does.

DIMASH gives us what we least expect when it comes to music; he is light years ahead of all other singers we have ever experienced and we may never see the likes of him again in this world, he is one of a kind for sure. Not many other singers are willing to spend the time he spends in making his performances what they are, it takes total dedication and hard work and devotion to music to create a DIMASH.

Hi there. Thank you for the reaction. I happened to watch another reactor who survived an attempted s**de and the way she explained her takeaway resonated with me. She said he sounds like a person who is struggling with his inability to feel comfortable the way he is, and that the phrase about being a bird, could be a burdened soul freed from human shackles, finally experiencing beauty without pain. She posited that the 'sleep, child. Sleep' could just be his final goodbye. I'm sure the original lyricist didn't mean it that way, but the way she explained it made sense because that's what I feel every time I listen to this song. Looking forward to more.
