  • This applies to standard 1D arrays, and not them fancy shmancy DLA corrosion probes where you're doing pitch-catch. We're talking vanilla here, not red velvet.
    And listen... always wear protection.

Good information reg using a normal tape also, as a protective thing. Thanks for the demo

Great tips Paul. Irrigation via screw hole is awesome.
    Love the blooper spot.

I really like slider wedges for this exact purpose

I’m not too proud to admit I’ve wrapped a 5l16 with electrical tape a few times in a pinch. Doesn’t stand up to actual scanning but for some bolts or small areas it did the trick.

Lots of people are telling me black electrical tape is fine. Just gotta keep an eye on it. It's not that durable.

HEy Paul, I 3D printed wedge holders for most PA transducers with irrigation pivot points builtin. :-) Using thin perspex.

theres helicopter tape, you basically only put it on once and it lasts forever. its designed for helicopter blades.

Hi quick question. When setting up a sdh DAC with a compression probe (0°) for a 3 point DAC the first SDH has a lower signal than that of the 2nd hole. So when drawing this out the 1st DAC point is at 80% FSH and the 2nd DAC point is passed the screen rather than following a natural decending curve. Am I doing something wrong? Thank you

That's normal. The second point is closer to the natural focal point, so it's louder. Technically it's best to adjust the gain first so the loudest hole peaks at 80%. Then draw the DAC.

Hi Paul, thanks for your tips & tricks.
What about water column wedges? From what I've learned so far ,They're better than rexolite in eliminating dead zone and providing excellent coupling.
But can we use water on regular PAUT probes? or should we use immersion probes designed to acoustically match water only?

I wouldn't use regular PAUT probes with water just because you can't be sure about sealing. I will also do a hydroform analysis video in the not too distant future and talk about water columns and repeaters.

It would be great to see a hydro form video Paul, a follow up flexo form would be double cool. Thanks for the interesting video as always.@@hollowayndtengineeringinc.5201

Hi Paul, Thank you, the 3m tape has glue.?

It was just a sticky clear sheet. 3M makes about 60,000 products so it's quite likely they make something that outperforms the Gorilla tape.
