- This is the first episode of Fly vs Jerk 9.
In this series of six episodes, five teams will fight for three days, free to go wherever they want trying to catch as many and big pike as possible. The five teams fighting this year are:
CWC Fishing Team with Stefan Trumstedt and Pierre Monjarret.
Team Vision Sweden with Niklaus Bauer and Thomas Søbirk.
Team Vision Finland with Markus Tandefelt and Pasi Taponen.
Team Leech with Alexander Lexén and Markus Maliszewski.
Team Karlskronafiske with Willy Björk and Viktor Vestergård
The second episode will air February 16th 2018.

I’ve not yet fished for pike on the fly but it obviously works well. Looking forward to seeing who wins 👍

Great start, good to see even more teams, but, I feel like this show will never EVER be the same without the original Vision Finland!!! That also goes for the narrator... no one can stand in Johan's place. It's exactly as I've read in one of comments below - "he is supposed to be the main guy of the channel impersonating its vision.. with him missing its just a channel making video's" ...couldn't agree any more!!!!!

Thanks for spoiling several previous seasons right in the intro. Just found this and got super exited and wanted to check it out and then several season winners got spoiled within first 2 minutes.....
It can be worse than that. In Season 8 videos, they actually spoiled Season 8 winners with ad for end of season event....
I can't beat 16lb/7.2kg. I live in Northern Ireland where pike are many but they seem to be all around 7lb mostly. I shall have to take a trip to Sweden one day soon.
Travel to Småland.. just a tip!

Guys I’m about to start use fluorocarbon for the leader, kind of scared to lose the pike with the jerk that’s the last thing what you want, any suggestions? 🍺
Use 7 Strand Titanium (AFW) in 50lb strength knotted and glued and you will never look back. If you believe in the invisible-bull get a diving mask and see for yourself

There were a couple of bite offs in the last series of pike fight
I have no trouble catching pike using wire on the fly rod or fishing jerkbaits
There's no need to leave big lures in fish just because you think you might catch an extra fish or two
You'll probably end up losing and possibly killing the fish of a lifetime.

I'm very sceptical I'm afraid
You may catch hundreds of pike without bite offs but you might get bitten off first strike!!
Law of averages say you will end up getting bitten off eventually!
And of course it will be the fish of a lifetime that swims off with your massive expensive lure and all of its hooks jammed in its gullet
These marketing people will convince you a few yards of over thick, hard and very expensive mono is the next thing you have to have to keep the pike climbing up your line
You can see for yourself in the video above showing the lure action underwater that fluorocarbon leaders are very far from invisible.
I've caught pike on tiny flies in the pitch darkness and I'd say for sure that a pikes eyesight is far far better than mine so I'm sure it can see a leader that's thick enough to tow a boat with
I often lure fish with florescent yellow braid and it doesn't seem to bother the pike
I certainly think a length of black 50 or 60 lb titanium is far more subtle and less visible than 150lb hard mono.
