Seeing Stewart and John walking a field and figuring out its story touches my heart. Legends, both of them. So gratified to see the team working together again on something so important. Pretty sure Dr. Mick, Robin, Victoria and the rest are out there with them making sure they go right.
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. John was in the first episode already and Steward showed up in... the third, I think. It is just a shame Phil is busy in Avesbury, him and John's arguments was always a high-point too. I did like to see the team doing a more traditional dig since most archaeologists don't work in 3 days (yeah, they did 4 days in the Byzantine bucket episode and 6 days in Nevis and I might be missing something but 4 weeks is unheard of). Let's hope they get back next year and try to find John's ship and possible grave.
I still find myself looking for Mick in the background. Him. Tony, Phil and Stewart had great chemistry. I'm grateful.to be able to watch the older shows. Rest easy Mick. Thanks for all the wonderful teachings.
Gosh I love this show. I am in Chicago and I remember watching the old episodes with Mick, Tony, Phil and the gang years ago. I have learned so much and enjoyed so much. Because of some medical conditions I will never realize my life's dream and visit England but Time Team has shown me places I would never have seen otherwise. Thanks to all 😃
Season 3 of Professor Alice Robert's show Digging for Britain features Matt sharing the presenting duties along with Alice. Very short season, only 3 episodes, and Matt is in every one of them.
Look, I haven't even finished the episode -- but watching John and Stuart walking around together through the fields, checking John's phone, is such a brilliant development in their working relationship. Those who don't know their history on Time Team (they weren't arch-rivals, but disagreed a lot, and even argued against each other's discipline) won't get how beautiful a moment this is to behold. It starts around 9 minutes in. What a great sight to behold!
I wanna see the clip where Stuart says to John, "Lemme take you for a walk, John." "Ok, but I'm bringing my phone." "Deal. And something to write with."
Helen Geake is just such an all round pleasant lady. I love watching her interactions. Never snarky, never annoyed. Or good at not showing being annoyed. Im so pleased that she got this dig.
Just been transported back to my younger days, brilliant to see so many new and old faces bringing Time Team back. Amazing how the technology has changed so much in such a relatively short period. Walking around with a real time geophysical map on a smart phone compared to those old dot matrix printouts! Always loved how Stewart could just eyeball a landscape and glean so much information backed up by Johns data (or not)!

31:48 to 33:40 Week 2 - Another possible boat burial on geo-phys!!! How awesome! Something to look at next year if you can deal with the water table Wonderful work and great to see the team together.
@@classicambo9781 Indeed, there is a good chance it is in excellent condition but I am not so certain it is a burial. It's placement makes it more likely to be a sunk ship or one that was abandoned on the beach then a burial, those are usually higher up. I've watched over the years, Time Team's discoveries. We lived just east of Sutton Hoo at RAF Woodbridge from 1984-87. My kids had the opportunity to see some excavations during that time.
Such a great series. The package of actors, staff and flow were just so good. I’m so happy to be in the age to appreciate everything. Thank you everyone
ah matt. the continued evolution of your career brings me such inordinate joy. whether it was as an inmate in lincoln jail, or a lay brother at a monastery you always had a positive impact. you never met me and you likely never will, but youve had a truly awesome impact on me. thank you for it :)
This is all so exciting! Thank you for sharing this “raw edit?” It’s wonderful to see so many of the original gang back together. I was hoping they would mention Phil when they found the flints. I would love to see him make a visit to the site. To me he wasn’t always given the serious respect he deserved; often being the target of teasing. I think he was loved by his teammates, but perhaps not as esteemed, possibly because he didn’t come across as the well heeled professor, with his regional accent, and he wasn’t as reserved. It shouldn’t be that way, but I think there is still a remnant of the class system alive and well in the UK. Nevertheless, I love Time Team, and I’m particularly pleased that Tony is back presenting.
Let's hope more people join patreon so there can be more digs. I discovered Time Team last year and I think I have watched every bit out there. Good luck on future episodes. I also like watching what I can on the ship building. The US doesn't have good programs. Looking forward to something more on Poverty Point also. Thanks
I live in Canada now, but I remember watching this show in the 90s as a kid after my Sunday roast before getting ready for school the next day... classic

Absolutely and totally amazing looking forward to watching the full episode of the dig absolutely love time team have done since it was on TV on a Sunday and always a must watch never miss show big thanks too all the Time Team for this fascinating look at Sutton Hoo and everything yet to be discovered ❤
The phenomenon tuduu tududu brings me back to a course during a minor in automotive design, which had one lecture of 4 hours straight of a highly ranked professor just going on and on and on about phenomenon. At the break around 2.5 hours I shared that every time he said phenomenon my head would go tuduu tududu. This ofc sparked this phenomenon in the heads of the other students and at a certain point you could see us all mentally go tuduu tududu until on of my classmates started laughing and we all ended up in a laughing fit and the teacher and professor thought we went crazy. We sorta did as I have remembered nothing of that lecture. But that was a fun moment.
What another wonderful video! Thank you so much for being able to share it with us all. Your work & knowledge is amazing and Sutton Hoo is a remarkable place with a very special atmosphere. Amazing! ❤️xx

Really interesting stuff. Just been to visit the Longshed at Woodbridge and the volunteers are still chiselling (axeing) away at the planks. Lovely days visit.
Please explain the metallic artifact found at the end. Tony was so excited but it was not clear what we were looking at! Flat surface with something etched into it? A head/ face?

You also had to be able to get there on your own and pay for your own arrangements, if chosen.
I didn't even try to fill it out because I knew I couldn't afford to fly into England let alone pay for transportation to the site and finding a place to stay. It would be a dream of mine to help on a dig! It would be a dream of mine to see England.
There was no mention of having volunteers again. That was my hope only.
@@theresacrubaugh2095 I hope that they will have volunteers again. Of course, it's a way to reward fans of TT. But I felt that it added an element of interest.
Not that it wasn't interesting enough.
@@elizabethneill3825 I think it adds towards the interest of becoming a patron, as well as, to keep being a patron. But offered, or not, I will remain a patron as long as I can.
I've watched over the years, Time Team's discoveries. We lived just east of Sutton Hoo at RAF Woodbridge from 1984-87. My kids had the opportunity to see some excavations during that time.
You guys are such a treasure - thanks for uncovering history - and making your own history in the process
Thank you. How exciting! Looking forward to the full film and next year.
Was there when they filmed the lady saying about goosebumps at 1.10... on Tuesday 25th June. Such a lovely lady
They used that moment in the teaser but never told us what she found!
@@nb6175 hopefully they'll show more sometime
Great program. Thank you! Looking forward to future reports and the final program.
Thank you and see you next year! Love Time Team!
I love Helen's passion on display at 29:06.
Feels like I'm hearing a bit of Mick Aston in there..
Thank you for a brilliant 4 weeks. My heart is full.
why oh why is there only one 'like' button?
HELEN the boss time teamer.,,,level headed and all information delivered without fanfare.the real deal.
Thanks
Dani is a fabulous presenter, she has the time team vibes down to a t!
Really exciting, ready to see the findings... and it seems eternal to wait until next year for the big excavation.
I live in Canada now, but I remember watching this show in the 90s as a kid after my Sunday roast before getting ready for school the next day... classic
the absolute and utter joy this place of death brings your lives, and the genuine thrill and joy of discovery you all feel, is quite infectious. no matter how much my life sucks you guys always cheer me up. or make me even happier when im not sad. i really appreciate you all, and im so glad you all got to dig there. thanks for sharing your adventures.
The fact that Tony and Time Team are still going strong does my soul good 😭😭 Ive watched these for over twenty years, I remember when they were on channel 4. I would watch them after school with my dinner lol
It has been great to see sp many facess, old and new. Long live Time team!
I have been WAITING FOR THIS FOR SO LONG!!! ... can't believe I missed the post! So, so cool.❤
"We lost 3 guides" Wow that was one hell of a storm ..... Oh, 3 guide ropes :)
Wow, to be one of those Patreons selected had to be a phenomenal experience! I've really grown to really love everything Time Team over the past year or so. And I hope that's a boat and not a septic tank lol
Just brilliant, thank you Time Team.
Awesome - can't wait for the movie to get more in depth with the finds
Absolutely and totally amazing looking forward to watching the full episode of the dig absolutely love time team have done since it was on TV on a Sunday and always a must watch never miss show big thanks too all the Time Team for this fascinating look at Sutton Hoo and everything yet to be discovered ❤
This is worth every penny we've contributed. What a fantastic dig. Thank you for giving us the privilege to participate.
My favorite part of the show is getting the locals involved, dressed in garb, cooking, crafting, and dressing up the Time Team crew!!!
Real Time Team ;-)
That dress Hilde modeled was gorgeous. And, of course, it made it more real.
Those lovely locals are there every Wednesday and Saturday and make the clothes themselves. We are a lovely bunch at Sutton Hoo, come and visit x
But that was a fun moment.
awesome. love the history of the area.
What another wonderful video! Thank you so much for being able to share it with us all. Your work & knowledge is amazing and Sutton Hoo is a remarkable place with a very special atmosphere. Amazing! ❤️xx
This was wonderful! Thankyou to everyone who made it happen, I very much enjoyed it!
Thanks Helen! Great stuff!
"Lets find some more Roman prooches!"
Helen:"Or not"
When you know the context, this is the best joke ever. Because Helen Geake is Anglosaxon archeoligist and all the Roman daily rubbish is polluting her very delicate anglosaxon finds.
I was laughing so hard. Love Time Team.
Really interesting stuff. Just been to visit the Longshed at Woodbridge and the volunteers are still chiselling (axeing) away at the planks. Lovely days visit.
15:49.... There I am in the crowd!
"Manamana" was an unexpected high point.
Thanks Guys this was great👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🌻🌺
Amazing!!
Derek and Laurence are like the Bert and Ernie of time time. I love their friendship 😂❤
This must be Hellen Geake's dream dig, using her Saxon, small finds background to the fullest
I'd be happy to be there, even doing grunt work. Just to be there when the team makes discoveries.
Matt’s just gotten better looking. 🥰
Please explain the metallic artifact found at the end. Tony was so excited but it was not clear what we were looking at! Flat surface with something etched into it? A head/ face?
It could be the missing pieces of the metal bucket that they had found in a much earlier dig - its on show in the Exhibition Centre
Its the bottom half of the Bromeswell bucket. Top half was ploughed up by a farmer in the late 1980's.
@@nickbea3443 thank you!
Thanks
Thank you
10:52 a barrow? goosebumps! ETA 35:57, a boat!! more goosebumps!!
That was most enjoyable. I'm looking forward to the final film. Congratulations!
its come a long way from stewart talking about intuition and john finding a furnace with geophys to them walking like the brothers they always were. im not crying yer crying hehehe
Can’t wait for the final film!
... so excited to watch this - feels like only last year that Matt was a young whipper snapper
It was good to see Angus on camera 👍
Amazing!! So excited!!
Phil Harding would have loved all those flint microliths!
Personally, I'm excited to know about the boat-like feature John found. I'm thinking it may well be later than Saxon but would still be an exceptional find if it is a boat.
