The trick with hydretain is that you have to treat the lawn BEFORE the real heat arrives or before the grass starts to check out. It won’t do any miracles in bringing back grass that’s already stressing out especially with no “real” rain lately. It’s meant more as a supplement with your watering and to maintain minimal hydration in the lawn. It won’t pull out moisture that isn’t there, especially with the lower humidity we’ve had on the east coast this Spring. It does really well once the humidity starts to kick in full throttle and there’s morning dew and water in the air in general but with an extremely dry past few weeks, it won’t perform as well.
I'm so happy for you, Your perseverance was worth it, That lawn was beautiful before the treatment and the mow. But after, it made me tear up. Very nice. FAITH is a wonderful thing. MAY God continue blessing you, in Jesus name, My brother.
Thanks man. Really appreciate it. I think I agree, except the constant water adds up where the fungus can be killed with a liquid for much less most the time. I tough decision there for sure.
I think part of your stress is because of the heavy nitrogen and phosphorus you put down right before the heat. All in all, the lawn looks good when considering the heat and the NPK. Consider a reset, (not putting down anything for a while) and I get it, I’ve been in your position (we need rain!!!).
The nitrogen, yes, but I haven't put any phosphorus down since I seeded. I'd agree though, as I've stated, the nitrogen I did put down certainly has to be considered. We expect temps to dip this weekend, so as time goes I should be ok. Soil test will let me know.
@@troymaurer9635 No not really. That just does off on its own. I can clearly see weed vs grass right now. It’s lack of water/rain and mainly summer heat early. A little might be the nitrogen as I’ve mentioned before, but not as much a factor as the heat and no rain.
My ortho sprayers measurements aren't accurate. I used 2 different measuring cups and they showed the same, but when poured into the ortho sprayer container it was off by 2 oz. Not sure if it's just mine, or all of them but be cautious when using the marks on the container as they may not be correct.....
I’ve had a few “hot spots” after my first hydrotain application, just did my second I’ll see if it helps. Luckily for I’m on a lake and draw the lake water because I could do 280/month either. Looks phenomenal!
@@MrFergusonLawn Yr later and we still need that jesus rain brother . ( california ) Subscribed to your channel , great information and very relatable to our drought situation and city bills !
Do you think your neighbor's lawn is wicking moisture from your borders? The mulch looked dry also. I think the stress in front is from heat evaporating the moisture from the lawn
At that time it has been weeks with 0 rain man. That is the issue, or was. I can water the lawn but that’s just to fill the gap between rain from the clouds. This has officially been the first or second driest Spring in our history so, that tells the story.
Ha thanks Rafael. They have only one setting on the mower I believe. Never change it, and cut low as possible to prevent cutting it as long as possible. Thanks man.
I need to hit my hot spots again...didn't see much from the full application. I keep praying for rain but even on the days we are forecast to get it, it's not much.
See, that being the case for you as well, it makes me think it's not the nitrogen I put down causing all the stress as some believe. It's just high heat and no rain from the heavens that's the issue. Anyways...I'm with you man!
I hear you man. Just be really careful about watering at night. It can invite fungus. The temp change and moisture combo. That said though, we do have to get the watering in at some point and if night is the only time you can, totally get it.
I water my lawn 2 hours a zone before sunrise and some times a zone all night when it gets in the 90s and above and I hit it about 4 pm 20 min kbg likes lots of water what are your night temps it takes a lot my water bill is 340 when it gets in the 90s
I recommend going to the lawn care nuts page and he has a video walking through all the steps and explaining it all in detail. I don’t use ortho much but for this product I do recommend it. Mine was set to 8, but I’ll be honest I’ve forgotten why it’s on 8, lol. I’ll link that video: ruclips.net/video/OekdXeRj7yY/видео.html
Oh I’m almost sure there is rock in the ground in these places, as they stress first. Also though, I do have KBG so it does need double the water fescue does. Lots of factors and things to consider.
Thanks for commenting Greg. I have to disagree. This was in May, and it was THE driest May in NC history. These are areas that were stressing out from lack of water. We went around 4 weeks or so with no rain, only getting what we put out with sprinklers. And we all know we can't sustain a yard (on city water) by just watering ourselves. We must have rain. These areas haven't looked like this since. The Hydretain did do it's job, however to your point, NOW we are having a lot of fungus because the rain has increased substantially. That I do agree with. I appreciate the comment man, and agree it's been tough this year.
That’s one of the most hilarious domination strips I’ve ever seen
Damn dude, your lawn compared to your neighbors...sheeeesh what a difference. you are doing something right!
Thank you sir! I’m trying to get through Summer! Appreciate the positivity sir.

Looks good keep it up God bless
I appreciate it.
Ok I continued with the video. It looks great!
Amazing grass!👍🏻
Thanks so much! Trying hard to keep it that way!
I would more prefer a lawn suffering from heat stress than a lawn bottling disease... nice video!

@@MrFergusonLawn probably true in the long run and experience. I am suffering from fungus this year badly and going to be on my 3rd app this weekend.
@@TheLawnSensei Aww man, that's terrible. I hope you can wrangle that stuff out and get healthy sir. Best of luck.
I just put down root Hume and soil softener in a stressed out are. And water in. Gonna hit 90 degree today
Excellent. Yes, another scorcher. Summer heat has def hit us early this year. If the rain was coming it wouldn't be as bad.

The secret is to heavily hand water and soak those dry spot areas. Water the rest like normal. Those areas are stressing out because they are dry.
My areas that look stressed are actually the areas I had poa anua checking out. The rest that has hydertain looks great!
Awesome Grace!

How much water goes down in the 25 min? Have you tried the screw driver test? Maybe there is a giant rock in places. Or in my case concrete I found.
