Hi there! I am Joseph.
I have been an immigrant / expat living in central Portugal along with my beautiful partner Mariana for eight years now.
Together Mariana, my father Clinton and myself, would like to show you a bit of the daily goings on around our Portuguese farm / homestead / smallholding and all of the work we are doing whilst renovating, starting building projects, working with our livestock, DIY and trying to grow our little families own food!
See our journey to self-sufficiency / permaculture / organic farming living in Portugal, trying to produce as much of our own food planting vegetables, growing fruit trees as well as looking after all our animals, such as our chickens, turkeys, geese, ducks, quail, rabbits and sheep - Shortly pigs too!

I’m here in Portugal, but as I haven’t gotten to the visa application, I can only stay 30 days. I didn’t know I was supposed to do this back in the US. I’m learning. I’ll go back in May and file all the necessary paperwork. I’m working on the NIF now. So happy for you all about Clinton! Having my son was the happiest day of my life and im so blessed. Thank you for working so diligently to bring us great content! Best regards to Mariana!

Bless you, it really does make for a wonderful childhood! Chloe closes the animals with me every single day, collects eggs, grows veggies, absolutely love it!

We have a larger than average block and our kids grew up with Chickens and various other critters as well.
At the time we didn't have the money to buy all the latest and greatest tech but in the long run I think it was a much better lifestyle.
In the end we all need the basics to survive in spite of all the electronic noise that is never ending.
I wholeheartedly agree, some chickens and some soil teach a heck of a lot more than a mobile telephone for a kid growing up!
