Years ago the wife and I were at Disneyland and we saw Shelley Long on the last Monorail back to the hotel and when we got off I pointed her out to a lady and her daughter and they wanted a autograph and the gal with her was kind of rude and said leave her alone she is with her family. I jumped in and said what does it take to sign her paper? Shelley ended up signing it for the gal.

Those folks at Complete Tire Service were great. Loved the extra time they took to answer questions, and climb under your rig to check the spare tire pressure and condition.
That also was nice that the guy asked and check your spare tire. I m a big believer in changing trailer tires every five years no matter how good are bad the tires are. Most trailers set most of the time in one spot storage are in between trips.
The tire guys were so awesome. Such good customer service. I’ve really been enjoying the subscribers coming up to you and you treat them so good. Y’all are the best. I ❤ you and your adventures. Thanks Hanks. ❤❤
We had a automotive for a very long time. I don't miss it. But these guys were my type of employees. Thanks for dragging us along. Whenever we had a car in the shop, before it went out the door, it was cleaned & the spare tire was always checked. I can say with certainty that first time customers had a flat spare tire. Hi Kyle and Renee, my Mom and I were the ones who stopped you in Bar Harbor to say hi. It dawned on me later that we didn’t introduce ourselves, so I’ll do it now 😉. I’m Anne Marie Purdom and my Mom’s name is Marcie Williams, it was so fun to get to meet you both. By the way, Prince Edward Island (PEI) was amazing! I highly recommend a visit there, the shoulder season was so great because it was quiet but be sure to be stocked up on food because the grocery stores were more like gas station convenience stores and they were all closed when we arrived by 5 on Saturday evening and didn’t open till noon the next day! We enjoy your videos, safe travels!
Kyle love listening to you ask the question. Thats how you learn and those 2 guys were open to sharing with you. Getting this info on rotation and going to a cat scale and getting your true axle weights will help alot

@@Neverdie242 So many places have 70 MPH speed limits again, so it doesn't make sense to me to have tires with no speed rating. The "Castle Rock" tires my rig came with separated, but I caught it before one blew. In over 40 years of driving, none of my passenger car or LT tires did that.

Kyle and Renee y’all are great when you meet you fans and followers on the street. The tire issue has always been an issue with trailers. I just spent over $1500.00 on new tires and brakes on our Fifth Wheel. We don’t travel full time and our RV is only 3 years old it setts a lot in the garage. They said that’s not good for RV’s. Thanks for all the info stay safe and happy travels
As a mechanic since the 1980's, if you "criss cross" (17:50) or reverse the direction of any steel belted radial tire, it will cause the steel belts to cut as they reverse and cause the tread to separate. I still am at work, and never allow a reverse rotation of any steel belted radial tire. Unless they took the tires off the rims and changed the direction.
What a great bunch of guys at the tire shop. We have had wonderful service from Discount Tire. They were great when we had to get our trailer tires changed. I disagree that irregular tire wear is normal. I think you are correct that your lifted truck may be a contributing factor, but one thing that might decrease the irregular wear is using Centramatic Wheel Balancers. When we changed our trailer tires after 5 1/2 years, we had perfectly even wear on our Goodyear Endurance tires after more than 30k miles. I am convinced this was because of the Centramatics. We put on another set of Endurance tires because they had performed so well. Thanks for all the great Maine info!
My mom got into Good Sam’s in the 80’s or 90’s. They had a “home” park that they could go to for two weeks, leave for a week and come back for two weeks! And had big savings on the cape! It was crazy!
As far as tire balancing buy a bucket of TIRE BEADS. I switched to tire beads for my Motorcycle and was sold. I now run tire beads in everything. Truck and trailer as well as the Jeep.
Balance, over loading, and alignment Contribute to unusual tire wear. I recommend checking the axle weight on each axle before concluding the towing nose high is causing the tire wear. Travel videos and see you meet viewers is nice. Thank you for sharing and have a great thanksgiving.
We had a recent blowout on our tow behind last month. It was a $4500 repair. Even though the tires looked good and the pressure was correct. Stay safe. And I'll keep watching.
Another fun video. I have used Carlisle tires on all of my trailers since 2000. They have been the best trailer tire yet. I put equal tire balance beads in my trailer tires, Also use them in our Semi trucks and trailers. The beads use centrifugal force to balance, the beads will even out when the tire is spinning. The nice thing is as the tire wears they auto adjust for any changes in the tread. Using them has stopped the cupping and uneven wear in our semi trucks and trailers as long as the alignments are good. Also my boat and car trailer tires wear even now.
We had frequent problems with 16 inch load range G tires - tread separations, bulges, and blowouts. We then changed to 17.5 inch tires that fit the same space as the 16 inch. The G rated 16 inch were rated for 3700 pounds each. The 17.5 inch tires were rated for 6000 pounds. I never had any problems with the 17.5 tires on my toy hauler or my gooseneck equipment trailer.
If you think you are putting more weight on the rear axle you should check and see if your trailer is riding nose high. If it is you need to drop your hitch an inch or so if you can. Keep the good stuff coming guys.
Kyle, the equalizer between the two axles takes care of your "nose high" FW. That's what they are designed to do ... take care of any issues concerning front to rear and side to side balance.
I agree to a degree. The suspension is leaf springs so the rear leaf will get more weight if the rig is tilted up. The frame pushes the rear most spring shackle down while lifting the front most spring shackle up. In the middle is The equalizer pivot which has limited travel even more so when rig isn’t towed level. The only way is verify this is accurate weight on scales on per axle, something Escapees offers.
This is quite the informative little video thanks Hanks. Thanks to the tire garage and all the fellows that work there that helped you with great information.
I give you and Renee props on ure tire struggles.. you both have been through a lot… I asked about ure tires before and Renee got back to bout them. I appreciated that.. I did some research and those Westlake got some good 5 year warranty no questions asked thing where the Goodyears and the ones y’all got I can not find any warranty unless you buy it separately. And that will only last 3 years. I do like how you switched from the Westlake 10ply to now 14ply. Which I’m guessing will help last longer since y’all travel every day. I really like this video it gave me some insight and it is always nice to see Kyle all up in the mechanical mix, even though we I’m pretty sure Renee could prolly mount a tire with her eyes closed.. lol jk. Thank you for your videos we love them
As retired Fire, I always go to the local fire station. Bar Harbor, we had lobster 3 times the day our ship was here. All 3 were different venues, had a great time.
Glad you did Hadley's Point! Be sure to get a pop-over at Jordan Pond! If you have E Bikes hit the carriage roads. (get rentals if you don't well worth it! The land Brisge is cool as well. Breakfast at two cats!
I'm not an Rv'er, but still enjoy the quality of your videos. What also makes them interesting is when you are traveling to places we've been to and enjoyed. The New England area is a part of the US we traveled to multiple times, and thanks for providing the enjoyment of going there with you.
Hey guys. I see you were in Ellsworth, ME. I spent 4 weeks there back in March/April helping out after the floods this year. Great town and very friendly people. Hope to make it to one of your meetups some day.
Yep, we agree concerning the Westlakes. We got them on our '22 GD Transcend. They made it from NY to WA, OR, North CA and then one tire started wearing fast. Had to change it out in OH when a chunk fell out, but didn't blow. (Found out a spring had flattened, GD repaired spring but didn't cover tire). However, this spring we blew one on the way to Finger Lakes Region, NY. Then we had another one blow on the way home. First blow took out the wiring for the brakes. The second blow took out the fender, skirting, brake wiring, seal and some other stuff. Sound familiar? I threw out the remaining 2 Westlakes when we got GoodYear Endurance all around. Love you guys and your content. Thanks to the Hanks!
Had those exact same Carlisle CSL16 tires on my 2020 2930RL-R. Great tires. But my original load range G Westlakes did a lot of miles without issues. Their G tires are different construction than their E tires (which are crap). Currently running Hankook Vantra G-rated and they are the best! Made it through a 4 month, 16k mile Texas to Alaska trip this year with no issues.
Ended up taking a classified load up to Owls Head, Maine. You think taking your beautiful 5th wheel through those streets, try a Semi-Truck! The NSA wouldn't let me drop my 53' Trailer at the Naval/Airbase. So, everywhere I went, so went the 75' Semi-Truck... Try parking that along the side of the road at the local diner, grocery store or laundry... I have to say... No matter if I was parallel parking, or trying to back out of a tight spot... No matter what little village / town I was in, everyone was extremely helpful... Nicest most Courteous people I've ever been around...
If you find yourself parked on a level cement pad while hooked to the truck, measure from the ground to the frame at the front and rear of the trailer and you will find how much you need to lift the trailer to match the truck. Then find a good spring place to put shims between the springs and the axles.
VERY IMPORTANT Walmart has the Carlstar tires for around $95 depending on size. They used to be Carlisle. Tire Kingdom will match Walmart prices so you don't have to deal with Walmart. You may have just bought older Carlisle tires. Check the dates on those tires. Love your Channel
We're mid-40s and living an RV life is my wife's dream. We're from Ontario, but I think I'd love to live in Maine if I was moving to the USA. The East Coast of Canada is fun. We loved our 1/2 Province tour of Nova Scotia. We're heading back to do Cape Breton.
Oh my goodness! We went to this same tire shop in Aug of 2023 with our travel trailer for tire repairs. They were the greatest to work with us! Too funny!
I had to laugh when you were talking with the couple in Bar Harbor who were headed to Quartzsite. I'm in Quartzsite watching the video and from Maine. Bar Harbor looked pretty quiet compared to peak Summer season. My wife and i would usually spend a week up there in October, hiking, riding the Island explorer, eating at the restaurants. I'm glad someone finally corrected you on the pronunciation of Bangor. Its bang, hard g, or.
Two tires for $575 is insane. We just put 4 tires on our fiver (smaller but FOUR tires) for $421.85. We provided the balance beads. That was in Flagstaff a little over a week ago.
Nice you gave kudos to the guys in the back. If we enjoy a good meal, I always ask if I can thank the cooks. The unsung heroes that make everything run.
Balancing the tires are needed to allow a good even tread wear. Unbalanced tires can produce vibration up to all out shaking or even “tire hop”. A good shop will perform a digital dynamic balance, which means that the inner and outer sides of the tire will be balanced, as well as, around the diameter of the tire. The reason to rebalance tires when rotating tires is the fact that debris build up around the rim, which changes the balance of the tire. However, you can purchase and “install” glass beads inside the tire after the initial mounting and balancing, which will then maintain correct balancing while rolling down the road. So, the tires won’t need to be rebalanced; just rotated 😉
Enjoyed the video. My rule for truck and rv is that if one is badly worn the others are getting close. Replace all four with the same brand and the same tread. If you buy an rv with China bombs, replace them before even leaving the sales lot. Safe travels. S
Good stuff. Maine is just so much fun for RVing. As for those tires....rotate, rotate, rotate. Let's face it, many trailers don't go far enough to bother, as the tires rot away before they have enough miles on them to even come close to wearing them out. But if you tow a lot like we do, or clearly like you do then a regular rotation will definitely increase your tire life. I chose every 3000 miles to do mine. Every 5000 or 8000 would be fine too. Different positions on most trailers usually wear a bit differently and this will get each tire exposed to all the different circumstances. Glad to see those guys balanced your tires too. definitely going to wear less and ride smoother if you balance them. Great content, continued safe travels....
We love Bar Harbor, we get to that area once a year. Stayed at the Bar Harbor Campground this year and loved it. We've always gone in with the truck and had no problem finding parking. Some hidden spots, but parallel parking the 3500 usually gets attention from pedestrians!
Hi Kyle and Renee! I absolutely love your content-it’s always entertaining, inspiring, and packed with useful tips. You guys do an amazing job of sharing life on the road in such a relatable way. I’ve noticed Kyle seems to be in great shape, and I was wondering-what’s your secret to staying fit while traveling? Do you have a specific routine or approach? A video on how you manage to stay healthy and active while on the road would be awesome! Keep up the amazing work-you’ve got a big fan here!
Have multiple lists under "Camping" label in Google Keep. Check lists, torque lists and diagrams, winterizing checklist, departure checklist, arrival checklist, blah blah blah. Thank you for reminding me to add the spare tire check to one of the lists!
Glad to see you have Carlisle's for the new tires. We put Carlisle's on after we had a blow out (TPMS didn't alarm until AFTER the tire blew!). The tire guys were awesome!!
There’s no way a tpms can predict a blowout just like you or I can say”that RR tire is going to blow in 5 miles”. Sounds like the tpms was working if it showed zero tire pressure.
Absolutely - just making a point that a TPMS will only alarm when there's change in pressure - some people have remarked that a blowout could have been prevented had a TPMS been in place.
@ very true if the tire was too low on psi for too long, yes tpms would have saved the day……..as long as you do believe in the sensor operation and stop and air up. Sounds as if your case was impact/blowout.
I spent a week at Hadley's Point Campground in June with a group of friends. We visited Acadia and Bar Harbor. A beautiful area. We stopped at Mount Washington on our way there and took the Cog Railroad to the top.
We love watching your videos. A couple suggestions on the tire maintenance, I picked up a few extra TPMS sensors for my spare RV and truck spares. Come to find my truck spare was down to 32 psi! Also there are cordless tire inflators that work well such as the Dewalt Inflator. They will do the higher pressure tires and are cordless. I think Milwaukee has a good one too if that is your cordless choice.
Wow those guys are diamonds in the rough. We had a blow out in Kansas. Finally found discount tires, overcharged for sure. This was a great video today. We never clean around our spare tire. Bangor is definitely a beautiful part of Maine.
You talked about balancing tires. It is super important. You should think about balancing beads. Check them out. I have them on my truck and love them!!! I am putting them on the travel trailer this coming spring.
I’ve talked with a lot of people about your tire issue and many including myself think your issue could be the fact that your truck is lifted which is taking a lot of weight off the front axel and transferring it to the rear axel causing stressed axels and excessive tire wear. Good luck with your new tires and I truly hope I’m wrong. I love your channel.
This is 100% the reason for thier tire wear. Doesn't matter what brand you buy. All of the tires will start to wear the same. The axles are not sharing the weight evenly so the tires will not wear even. There is a reason any good RV dealer will explain the importance to towing with a LEVEL trailer. I do not own a 5th wheel, so I do not know if there is a way to level the trailer for towing.
Exactly the reason. The nose high towing increases the weight on the rear two tires. This causes the axle spindles to bow up a bit causing the wear to the inside of the tire.
Yes you are very correct. We’ve been dealing with this for many years and so many professionals told us being lifted has nothing to do with the uneven wear. Great to hear more opinions on the matter 👍
Not to be a downer for you and the outher comments on here. But my fifth wheel runs nose high and My rear tires on my rv don’t wear any differant than the fronts. Have had my rv eight years. Am on my second set of tires. Just my opinion. I wouldn’t change your truck looks good the way it is.
Must have just missed you guys up there. Please keep an eye on those Carlisle tires. Friends warned me after I had bought some for my RV several years ago. Hadn’t had them a year and one separated on me and did over $2000 of damage to my trailer. So watch out especially if the weather is hot. Love your channel
Usually if were not familiar with where we're going to take our motorhome into,we park the motorhome and do a trial run in our toad to make sure we don't get into some place we can't get back out of. 😊
A couple years ago I researched different ways to balance tires because I have dually ford with polished aluminum rims and the lead weights would oxidize on the rims and make them look like crap. So the make balance plates for the truck along with balance beads. I went with the balance beads and have them in both trucks along with my camper now. That should solve your issue and the cost of having your tires balanced all the time. For me they work well. Good luck in your travels and Happy Thanksgiving
I have recently found your channel and absolutely love the personality and chemistry you two share with us. I have two questions that have been brewing in the old noggin. First, how do full time RVers deal with medical, dental, and vision appointments? Do you have primary physicians? Or is it more make appointments whith whoever is close by at the annual time of year. Second, how do RVers do holidays? The Fourth of July seems easy to grasp, but Christmas and Thanksgiving seem trickier. Turkey dinner? Tree and gifts? I would love to see videos about these. If you have some already, I understand not making new ones. I am still working through your backlog of videos. Keep up the good work. I love seeing your travels. My wife and I just got our first RV. Only part time right now, but we see the appeal of full time. 😊

I’ve been happy with Goodyear Endurance (U.S. made) trailer tires. They’re speed rated for 87 MPH.

My mom got into Good Sam’s in the 80’s or 90’s. They had a “home” park that they could go to for two weeks, leave for a week and come back for two weeks! And had big savings on the cape! It was crazy!
As far as tire balancing buy a bucket of TIRE BEADS. I switched to tire beads for my
Motorcycle and was sold.
Thanks for sharing! Those repairs add up
We replaced our China bombs with Carlisle tires a year ago and even did the spare. We love them! Thanks for the video! Save travels y'all!
Sorry, not a fan at all of Carlise Tires. To many problems with a lot of our friends trailer and rv’s
Thank you for taking time to talk to me and my wife, at the Loves truck stop today. You two made my day!!!!
That tire store was awesome. They sell “Blinker Fluid” and “Road Kill Stew”. 😂
I love how you explain a husband and wife mindset in this video!!! So so true!
I love the "too many fries" bit of the video. You two always provide so much great information and a lot of entertaining moments. Thank you.
This is quite the informative little video thanks Hanks. Thanks to the tire garage and all the fellows that work there that helped you with great information.
I’m very impressed with my Carlisle G rated tire. I always buy a rating higher than recommended on rv sticker. At least it makes me feel better.
I really like this video it gave me some insight and it is always nice to see Kyle all up in the mechanical mix, even though we I’m pretty sure Renee could prolly mount a tire with her eyes closed.. lol jk. Thank you for your videos we love them
Make sure you recheck the torque on your suspension parts that you replaced so they don’t loosen up Love you guys be safe.
Great views and nice to meet followers! Keep sharing! Safe travels!
As retired Fire, I always go to the local fire station. Bar Harbor, we had lobster 3 times the day our ship was here. All 3 were different venues, had a great time.
We ate at the Thirsty Whale on our road trip to Maine in May. Great meal!
Thanks so much for visiting my hometown of Bar Harbor! Glad you had a great time!
I do appreciate the dose of real life! Tires are really Important.
Nice guys you found to work the tires.
California tire shop crews need to take some “Quality Control and Customer Service “ tips from these guys
Amazing service attitudes
I’m impressed Kyle
We're mid-40s and living an RV life is my wife's dream. We're from Ontario, but I think I'd love to live in Maine if I was moving to the USA. The East Coast of Canada is fun. We loved our 1/2 Province tour of Nova Scotia. We're heading back to do Cape Breton.
You guys are great together love you guys
I agree! Lovely couple.😊
We go through Quartzite while traveling from Ca to Texas.
I have used Carlise tires for the past 3 trailers and have only had one fail. They are a great tire.
I really like Carlisle tries my last Carlisle trail HD were great tires.
I spent a week at Hadley's Point Campground in June with a group of friends. We visited Acadia and Bar Harbor. A beautiful area. We stopped at Mount Washington on our way there and took the Cog Railroad to the top.
Agree, Camden is as far North you need go to see Maine. Unless, Acadia Nat’l Park and to drive up Cadillac Mountain is on your must do list.
Cooper tires never had any trouble
.very safe and reliable. Happy trails be safe .
Fellow RVer’s Irene Iron were just there and talked about the nearby island - Bar Island.
I love your guys. This videos. Keep them coming. I know you're in Maine. Stay safe and take care. Love you guys.
You're famous!
Just Dexter 😊
And they addressed it in this video as they themselves said the same thing!
Tire guy Tyler ❤ Such a sweet smile.
Where ever the Hanks go a mini meet up kicks off. Love it! You guys are great!
We have watched your Alaska videos over and over and over! Lol planning our RV trip to Alaska. Love your videos!
You will love it!
We went to Boothbay Maine. Honestly, we got the idea from Travels With Delaney and Finding Our Someday.
Our solitude came with Cooper 17.5" H tires- Rated Aluminum Wheels.
I tried everything for tires… went to Hercules 12 ply (15” tires) they are the bomb.
Ray Dee ator Renee…
It’s a “rattleater” when the hot water hits the cold steel. We’ll be there the second week of June. ❤️ The Hanks Trio😎🇺🇸
Thank you for the VOD. 🥃🥃
