Please do a video on the wall mounted computer that runs your automatic. Ive worked at a car wash for a year and that's the only thing i can't figure out
I was always wondering if you bought liquids in those bigger containers. Thanks for sharing all the detail especially how you unloaded. You are awesome!
Dope video! Two things, 1: A Toyota Tacoma tailgate is only rated for 200 pounds, that’s why they are made to come off easily. Just find where the cable attaches to the truck and while lifting the tailgate a little push out the tab on the pear shaped ring to slide those off, then lower the tailgate all the way and it will slide towards you. B: Get yourself a RotoHammer with SDS bits!!! Wayyyyyyyy better than a hammer drill. Your back/shoulders/wrists/arms will thank you. Cheers 🍻
I set a hand truck on the ground where I'm going to drop the drum, which I try to land on the flat lifting part of the hand truck. This lets the barrel move away from the tailgate with no chance that it will tip over. The last thing I need to do is pick up a barrel off its side (Much more important with a 55 gallon drum).
I am thinking having sensors to detect wet floors would be helpful. I know they have these devices because I had them once through Hippo Insurance for Homeowner's Insurance. Maybe next level would be a sensor that shuts off the water main when there is a leak in the equipment room.
Nice job on the wand holder install Chris. Thanks for the shout out! Busy today at my Wash. Happy Wa$hing from your new friend in Florida, Phil Dean...
Gooday Chris - another great video!!! I just had a response from an owner who got a note under their door (gee, I wonder where I learned that idea from?) and will meeting up with him this week!!! That being said, can you please consider making a video on the following: how you structure your payment methods in paying yourself relating to withholding for taxes, when you actually pay yourself (after the previous month’s books are done, every week, etc), and what legal entity you use for ownership of the car washes? I’m getting momentum and want to be as prepared as possible with as much research as possible. You’re the only RUclipsr who is offering this much value in the SS arena!!!!
Thank you!! That’s awesome!! Congrats on getting a call from taking action. I can’t give out tax advice as I’m no where close to certified but I would talk to an accountant if I were you about entities n such. I personally use an S Corp. not too difficult to set up but would start on that first thing if you come to an agreement on a deal.
@@CarWashChronicles thank you... I know that you mentioned about $130k investment between both of your locations... did you finance any part of either of these deals and if so what financing did you use? SBA, commercial loan, seller-financing?
I just met the landlord for my first car wash, it has been dormant for about 5 years. Had a car dealer using it to detail cars, but no retail wash. Told him I would sign a 15 year lease. Have no idea what it’s going to take to get it all working. It’s only about 10 years old, at a chevron c store. The store operator had no idea how to maintain it, so when they had a leak or whatever just shut that bay down.
@@CarWashChronicles apc makes some for IT departments to attach to battery backs. Maybe your alarm company could attach something like that to its panel
Great video. Probably your best addendum video to what you’ve done so far. The density of material over the time of the video is excellent! Keep it up. BTW, I took my own advice & created a google maps list of the car washes in my area, & starting to add closed locations to follow up on. Do you record the locations you leave a note for or have a follow up system?
Thanks for the great feedback! Your system sounds a lot better than mine. I just keep a bit of paper with the addresses written down that I dropped notes at. No actual follow up method. I usually do it once a year incase they are in a better position to sell.
I've noticed in a lot of your videos that I am binging right now, that not all hose connections have hose clamps. Instead of spending money one everyone's suggestions of getting sensors, just use hose clamps on everything first.
Great video. Glad you said you had to learn all the hands on stuff from scratch because I’m going to have to as well. Glad you reminded me you were 2 hours away from your house. Looks like that will be my times. There is more of a chance of finding on in a smaller town around me than in the cities of St Paul or Minneapolis. Are you financing the automatic washers with a SBA loan or something?
I'd look into a tow service to stop people from abandoning vehicles. Most are 24hr and shouldn't take more then a couple hours max to come and get the vehicle. All they'll do is post a sign that says no parking then the ordinance for the violation and number to call about the vehicle. Should be free to you too.
The guns range from like $18-$40. I guess I could try the $40 ones and see how they go but it’s more the customers throwing them on the ground/running over them so I doubt the more expensive ones could survive any better. It’s not that often anyway I need to replace them anyway.
Bother just a few though as to the ruined DVR you should get a Waterproof Lockable DVR box . They run about 100-200 dollars and can be mounted so that if you ever have a massive leaks your electronics are protected . Also normally with abandoned cars like that you should call local law Enforcement more that likely that car was stolen. They would of come taken a report and towed the car from your lot for free and you wouldn’t of had to wait forever for a tow company to show .
Well, tbh the video equipment should be protected. All hoses should be checked regularly for maintenance. Need to plan better to make sure you're taking care of the necessities.
So I left letters, I’ve gotten one reply back but the problem was how I can speak to them. He was asking $1.4mil and the I like the size of a checkers food place. Not very big at all really small was surprised he ask $1.4. Can you create a video in how to talk too car wash owners so I don’t sound stupid and get to a straight point. I don’t think this owner was even making close to $100k a year. Thank you man
Just know every deal isn’t for you. I’m sure if the car wash was rundown not earning much unless he was selling a big block of land as well then asking 1.4 mil he just simply Doesn’t want to sell unless it’s for a ridiculous amount. It helps to educate yourself on the language of business like leasing, gross, net, NNN. Comes with practice also so move on from that one and look for a desperate seller.
Hey I just found a car wash in my neighborhood right off of a major high way truck stop as well 3 bay self serve and 2 automatic bays I left hand written note for owner looks like it been out of service for a few years now no signs street side I need help putting contract together if owner reaches out to me please get back to me as soon as you can !! Thank you
Hey man. My landlord prepared my contracts so I’ve never had to go to the trouble or drafting one. I’m sure if you made a deal then your landlord should draft one up for you to review. Otherwise any business attorney can do it.
I assume the reason the tow truck company took their sweet time was because you didn't pay them to remove the car and the expectation is the owner of the car would pay to reclaim the car. Is that right?
I worked 16 years at coleman hanna, and my brother recommendation never buy automatic, the parts are very expensive, the work we charge you too expensive, I better recommend you, that you invest in another bay, oh hand wash.
That car definitely seems stolen. The broken in window and then leaving it in a random spot. Wouldn’t be surprised if it was used in a crime and then abandoned.

I just saw in the kleenrite magazine a breakaway wand swivel. Might be better than it getting really stuck and ripping the boom down.

You are one of those guys like me learning by doing (in most cases i get to repair really old machinery double so old than me im 32 years young)
Oh for sure

You should really get a lockable networking cabinet in there to protect your equipment
when you drop the barrel, keep a used tire underneath it.

Thank again Phil. Hopefully no more broken wands for a while. Same to you!! 🙏👍🏻

This is one of my dreams I want to own at least 10-30 of them🤞🏾🍀🙏🏾❤
Great goal. That would be awesome
You're getting it done. Thanks for sharing!
For sure. You’re welcome. Thanks for watching

That’s usually how car washes become crappy or close down. Mismanaged. That’s great opportunity for us. Nice work
@@CarWashChronicles have you ever asked for rent abatement?
You should put a environmental water sensor at floor level tied to the dvr for alerts if there’s a leak.
Not a bad idea. Thanks

U got to use loctite the liquids sealer along side with the plumbers tape
Yep. Won’t be poppin off no more. Thanks
Question: Would you involve your insurance company for the TV and/or other equipment? Or just go pick up a new tv at wally world? (WM)

You should hire a staff
Chris last question. What happens if you have to break the lease. Like if you and your wife moved to Timbuktu lol. What would you do in that situation
Try nozzle protectors for your high pressure gun the are 3$ on kleen rite
Thats also why, you should have a rack on the wall for these things :)
Ur videos are making me wanna buy a car wash 🤩
Yay!! Do it!!

Seller financing.
Yep. Had to learn by doing for sure. Working on a few financing options. Probs pay for one myself then borrow for the other one. We’ll see

Great Scott. Appreciate that and will get in touch with them about their signs n service. Thank you!
Is there any benefit to buying nicer guns that go bad less often? Or is it best to just get the $20 guns and replace as needed?
The guns range from like $18-$40. I guess I could try the $40 ones and see how they go but it’s more the customers throwing them on the ground/running over them so I doubt the more expensive ones could survive any better. It’s not that often anyway I need to replace them anyway.

Yes. Gotta always call cops first. If only the all the tow companies I called dont need a signature.
Is the pay station at your other car wash is going to be the same
I think so
I thought the Razor would not be able to fit in your bay as it was too narrow?
That’s at my other car wash on main st. Bear valley wash it fits
Well, tbh the video equipment should be protected. All hoses should be checked regularly for maintenance. Need to plan better to make sure you're taking care of the necessities.
bro i question.
can a foreigner run self car wash in usa ?
Yes. With the right paper work you can do whatever you like
Put nozzel protector on.
Ok thanks 🙏

Hey man who does your insurance? My quotes have been high as hell
Hi. Yes i got super high quotes aswell till I found Liberty mutual. Was 1/10th the price
Where do you pick up your chemicals
Soap from kleen rite. Wax from Cararoma in south Los Angeles
Did you get your Razor used?
Yes I did. Still great working order

Damn next time add the time, I wanna see what time you went home
Ok I will next time. I left about 1pm got home about 3. My worker who lives out there met the towing company at 9pm.

Always call the cops before getting it towed so they can run it, clear it and give you permission to tow. 👍🏻
Next time use Tacoma and pull it in the street, seems to speed up the process.
Haha. Exactly!
You should hire an assistant
For sure 👍🏻
