A few weeks ago I began this lovely project with my friends Jan and Jayne. We started to make a Wedding Present Quilt using that wonderful scrappy technique I learned from Terry Rowland and so I call them 'Terry Blocks'!
They have been busy and I have been busy, but in-between times we have all been working on this quilt and today I will take you to their home to carry on with the next stages of this quilt. It is going to be a long process, but none of us are in a hurry to get this finished!
Enjoy this episode and check back for more updates in the future. I have created a playlist and you will find the last episode and all future one right here -

Absolutely love your videos!
For a moment there I was wondering how you were going to drive with a pot in your lap, then remembered y'all sit on the other side! 😂
😂😂
Very enjoyable video. 😊
When I visited in England, I had to laugh at myself several times for trying to get into the wrong side of the car! 😂😂😂
Lol… I was thinking the same thing!😂
I thought so myself 😂
Kate I’ve been watching you for approx 5/6 yrs. By memory your grand daughter was yet born at the time. Anyway, I noticed you now have a silver RUclips plaque now. Oh wow. I remember you were not sure how many were going to follow you back then and now it’s over 300,000 it’s amazing but I’m not surprised. You are a wonderful lady, very creative and you always seem to be inviting us into your daily creative life from gardening, sewing, your family, your pets, your friends, even relaxing by the fire hand sewing or knitting. It’s so comforting and relaxing to watch you. Thank you for picking up a camera and film yourself 6+ yrs ago. Watching you is like visiting a close friend.
Totally agree ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Isn’t the count currently at 177,000?
You are very sweet and you gel with everyone so nicely. Your friends seemed very kind and polite to me. I love watching your videos. Thanks ❤🙏 from India.
There's just something so soothing and comfortable about the English countryside and homes. What a delight to be a part of this project. Thank you Kate.
Occasionally very damp! x x x
“I don’t like quick finishes. I like thoughtful finishes.” Brilliant! And another delightful visiting episode with your mates. 🥰 Thanks Kate!
Thank you! Cheers!
My thoughts exactly. I get zero satisfaction from quick quilts. Sometimes quick is a necessity but they don’t “do it” for me.
How incredibly fun to work on a quilt with friends! You are completely adorable, Kate - I just love watching what you're doing and working on! All the blessings to you! ❤
I always forget that you drive on the opposite side of the road. It's a little stratling to see a vehicle heading towards you. What a lovely way to spend the day!!
Kate, I really enjoy watching your videos. You are an amazing person and I appreciate your time that you put into these videos.
I just found you and love watching what you do and how you do it. I have been quilting for about 30 years. It has saved my sanity all these years. I live in East Tennessee but a transplant from Upstate New York. I am 75 and widowed almost five years ago. I make mostly charity quilts now to donate to nursing homes, pregnancy crisis centers and for areas where hurricanes, and other disasters have happened. No children so I make fabric hugs for those that need them
The quilt is going to be beautiful, thank you for sharing the progress.
Enjoyed meeting Jan & Jane today while visiting from CA. What fun!
@@barbarahudson8879 they loved meeting you too!!!
Oh Kate, you have just made my day! “I don’t like quick finishes, just thoughtful ones”…..I am on my 3rd year of a queen sized quilt & you have inspired me to hand quilt it 🥰 May be a while yet before it’s finished 😉
Enjoyed watching all 3 of you working together-each with her own little “job”!
Have fun! I love the process on hand quilting. A nice way to appreciate the quilt you've made
I am delighted to hear it. Keep going! x x x
Lovely video with friends. So nice to hear all b about her quilt. My Border Terrier was listening too. She mentioned the word"Squirrel". Eadie immediately looked up from her lounging position on the back of the sofa to check the garden was free of said furry critters 😆
What a delightful video. I felt like I was invited along to spend time with friends.
I just need you to know I was so scared of this EPP not mention freaked out about trying to get an actual quilt done..😮😮then The Gods delivered your channel to my algorithm and Wow. My son just bought me a new Viking and you have me feeling so brave to tackle them all. Circuit is cutting my hexes now and I will really enjoy hand sewing these. Then I will get this finally figured out after having fabric for triangle quilt 3 years.. such a scaredy cat, but after finding you I feel encouraged and ready to tackle anything…as long as you got a tutorial. ❤love to your entire family thank you so much for sharing. I am agoraphobic so classes and groups don’t work for me, people make me cry too much, world too cruel. Too sensitive and all. I just accept and so thankful to God you landed in my RUclips… feeling guilty for have new machine and just not doing it. Love you so much and thank you for filling my home with joy again, 2 cancers in 19 and then covid I will never leave my home besides docs. Hubby does shopping via FaceTime I am so blessed. I truly appreciate your time and effort to teach me.😊
Love all of your friends and videos. I lived in Erin, New York USA for over 67 years. Because of my health I was forced to move from 2 story home to a one level mobile home. I miss my rolling hills and colored leaves this October 2024.
What a lovely time with friends. The journey of making them is so nice with each of you your own part. ❤ Thanks for sharing. 😊
Such a beautiful home that Jan and Jane have and I enjoyed hearing where the fabric came from in the beautiful quilt. Thank you for sharing 😊
What a fabulous production line spread over two homes, keeping everyone involved.
Indeed. It was a Joyous production line! x x x
I am really enjoying this little series Kate. Thank you for taking us along. The girls are lovely, their home is charming and the dogs are adorable!
Nothing is better than sewing and sharing with friends. Thanks for the video.
Jan and Jane are such a lovely couple. Such an enjoyable time visiting with them! Thank you all🥰
love your slow sewing, it's so calming & very enjoyable, it's also how i'm doing my Hexies & stain glass window (which I actually started 1st but ran out of solids)
soup & scones sounded delicious too; they have quite a cozy little cottage there, very welcoming too
thanx for taking us along on this sewing journey
So lovely to see the progress and your supper together- there is nothing better than that!
I very much enjoyed your visit with your friends!
Lovely.🥹💕
Love watching this friendship where you can talk and create a quilt, creating memories and a high value life, all at the same time.
What a lovely, peaceful video. Thoroughly enjoyed meeting your friends “virtually” and seeing the lovely hexagon quilt.😍
Glad you enjoyed it! x x x
Enjoyed the video! Loved seeing the Border Terrier. My daughter and her family have had several and we love all of them! Lovely project! Thanks for sharing it!
How nice to have friends sewing together.
nice to meet you too...bettyanne from NM LOL
I so enjoy your videos. I just found your channel, love it. I'm a late to the party, my husband was on kidney dialysis for 5 years, he passed 18 months ago now my day's have changed. I'm 78 and have been quilting for 50 years. I used an ironing board for many, drove me nuts. Then I watched Jordan Fabrics video Matt's ironing board adventure. I now have a 2 ft by 4 ft ironing surface. When you get a minute look it up, I bet you can make one too.
Thanks, Kate for letting us come along with you on your visit with your friends! I can tell that you all had a lovely time! Looking forward to keeping up with the next steps in this quilt's process! 🙂
Glad you enjoyed it! x x x
I loved this video. It actually warmed my heart to see friends having such a lovely day together. Thank you for sharing your life with us, Kate. I wish you have many, many more happy days❤
thank you! I'm so grateful to have such good friends! x x x
How delightful - soup, cheese scones, quilting and friends to share it all with. ❤
What a wonderful way to spend your time with them both,I would just love a project like that ,to see how different other people put colors together…
Thanks Kate. In this moden world it’s good to see someone taking time over a project which they like.
Not only is it a beautiful video of friends, but the music you’ve used is perfect. I also loved their red refrigerator!
How lucky they are to have you in their home!!! What a gift!! ❤❤❤
And I am lucky to be there x x x
@@thelasthomelyhouse for sure! Great company for all! ❤
I can't help but notice that two very generous windows let in all this natural light. What a wonderful bonus.
That was super seeing your lovely friends. Thank you all and the dogs are so sweet.
What a lovely visit with your friends. Thank you for taking us along!
I was so happy to see your visit with Jan and Jayne. I watched the first visit with them at your house and the beginning of the quilt. I kept looking for a follow up on it and had to laugh when you finally got together to do some more work on it. You do really like to spread projects out!! They are going to be so happy to see and use the finished quilt, and the best part will be the memories of making it with you.
I always feel at home with you and your friends and family. ❤
Thank you for all your cozy, happy, crafty videos ❤️
A wonderful day with good friends, creating, making and eating good food.
Oh my word....just loved this video....thank you.....meeting your friends, and dogs...and the teamwork approach to making a gazillion 3 inch Terry Rowland blocks....it will be lovely when completed.....BTW, l'm 87 y-o, can't quilt these days, so quite enjoy watching lovely quilting videos. Regards from the Ozarks usa...
❤
What a wonderful idea to do while spending time with your friends.
Thank you so much for putting these videos together. I so enjoy them. Not only do I get inspiration, but I love seeing the architecture of English homes! Jan and Jayne’s home is quite lovely! Happy stitching, ladies! ❤
So great that friends can work together on a wonderful project. Love your jacket, Kate.
Thank you! 😊
Wonderful progress you’re all making on this quilt, loved the border terrier-Doris! I’ve got a 16yr old Cairn terrier, all the way down here in NZ.
Love their personality disorders, you have to be terrier friendly humans for these doggies. They look so cute! But they’re really devils in disguise. Great sense of humour, they have, and they keep you on your toes. Good to see Kate’s Merlin coat is still alive and well!
Having just gained a Yorkshire Terrier whose 8.. I agree they are devil's in disguise! He's a real cutie but knows how to rule the house already!
Talking of clog dancing in Sidmouth - my ex husband, and sister in law, are members of Alive and Kicking who have Appalachian danced at Sidmouth, you friends may know them. They are based at The Phoenix in Exeter. I LOVE those two beautiful dogs. It is lovely to hear the story behind the pieces of the quilt on the sofa at your friend's house. My goodness, what a lot of work has gone into this quilt that you are making, between the 3 of you - what a lovely thing to do. Blessings from Jilly & Madge, from West Devon, England. xxx
I remember the first video 😃 So nice to find out how things are going. What fun and inspiring.
Thank you so much.
This is one of the best videos. I love the way the 3 of you are working together. 840 squares, yikes! Can't wait to see the design process.
Us too! x x x

What a beautiful quilt it will be. Thanks Kate for the video and sharing your life with us.
It's always such a joy being in your home and sewing with you, Kate. Love the process the three of you have set up and love your gloriously blue VW.
I enjoyed visiting Jane and Jan so much! They have a beautiful home. This is a wonderful project. I was thinking it's a great way to stay in close touch with others and it's a fun way to make good memories! I loved the hexagon quilt. I'm sure there are so many good memories in that quilt. Thank you for bringing us all along!
I was watching and realised your friend Jayne has the same top as me. What great taste she has lol! Look forward to the quilts progress.
You are the best person to help your friends enjoy the process of making a quilt. Can’t wait for the next instalment of putting this quilt together 😊❤.
I'm lucky my friends agreed to share their quilt journey with me, too! x x x
As always this video was just right. What a lovely way to spend time with friends!
Aah BeRo! I have mine from the 70’s. I live in the Netherlands and even bought a scale with pounds and ounces in it! Lovely episode!
Mine too!
It belonged to my mother originally, I "borrowed" it for the Christmas cake recipe.
It came with me when I moved to Germany in 1988!
My mam passed away 14 years ago, I always think of her every time I get the book out..which is quite often, and my own kids used it too to make their first bakes .
It's falling to bits, but I 'd never part with it!
What a lovely visit, Kate! Your friends are charming, and your joint effort looks like fun. I’m looking forward to seeing the end product sometime in the future.
Hello Kate, this was such a fun video to watch, as they all are. Your visit to Jan and Jane's looked like fun. I love watching your drives through your beautiful countryside. Their quilt blocks are coming along quite nicely. Have a wonderful day. Take care. ❤
Thank you Kate, you can never have too ,,many quilting clips! Hearing that it took so long to finish the beautiful hexie quilt made me feel that I wasn’t so odd taking 40 years to finish mine. Worth it though.
What fun with friends, Kate! We have a group that gathers every Sunday to work on our individual projects, too! It will be interesting to see how yours all comes together! Love from Pennsylvania, USA 💕🌷🐻
What wonderful friends you have ,can’t wait to see the project done😊
Had a quiet sew day with friends today. Had soup and grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch. Such a lovely day. Glad you enjoyed time with your friends. Love everything about this.

Brilliant views, as usual. Love your coat, it is beautiful!!! So glad you took us with you, it was amazing...❤❤❤❤❤
What a lovely day spent with friends. I got excited when we went to the car, haha. I loved it, back in the day, when you would take us on road trips. I just about lost it when you met the big truck. It was on the wrong side of the road for just a moment. Made me chuckle. Enjoy the project. See you on the next one.

Wow! Kate the Couples' Colour Therapist! Working on a creative project together has got to be an exercise in relationships and cooperation.
Thanks, Kate! What a glorious celebration of friendship! I adore your coat and love Jane’s hexi blanket ❤
Hello Kate. It is so nice to see friends together doing a quilting project together. I love the tiny blocks. I do not have quilting buddies, that is reason I am envious of you three. It is funny how many of you quilters have the new irons. I have it on my Christmas list for this year. Have a great wonderful time with your friends. Can’t wait to see it finished. Thank you.
Jan and Jayne are complete novices. Maybe you can teach some of your friends to quilt too? x x x
