Omg thank you so much for this, I’ve always wanted to see a happy ending where Curly was actually proactive in helping Anya (and the rest of the crew, really). I also love the implication that Jimmy and Curly have been friends since childhood, which I have thought about due to Curly’s actions in the game and how he’s stuck between helping Anya and talking to Jimmy

Thanks!! And yeah, I always really liked the hc of Curly and Jimmy being childhood friends because I saw Curly's insistence that Jimmy was a good person came from sentimentality. Like, he knew Jimmy when he was a good kid (and most ppl don't start off assholes lol), so he believes that that part of him was still there in the asshole, adult version of Jimmy.

Then I saw the good ending sequence. 🥺 Honestly, Daisuke and Curly look in their elements there, I don't think I even need to say anything about Anya because it's clear like day, and damn, it's the second time I see someone drawing Swansea being a grandpa. 🥹 One of the best "would be's" I've seen in this fandom. ❤️❤️❤️

to be honest, watching the video I was very touched, because it was done very cool and sensually, the song was chosen cool!! (I'm writing it down in my playlist✍️) My soul hurts for this team, and I also imagined a different outcome. However, if it weren't for the monstrous outcome that was in the game, we would not appreciate a good ending. And a good ending is easy to come up with, and the atrocity that we saw could only be thought up by the developers ahaha

A lot of fans talk about how Curly should have killed/frozen Jimmy, or let Anya have the gun... but we have the hindsight bias, we know how things turned out. If you were in Curly's place, having the responsibility to keep your crew alive and working together, be a reasonable leader, and emotions are already running high, would you really be able to put your co pilot and close friend out of commission? I don't think I'd do any better. I bet Curly is haunted by his choice in the end and wishes he'd acted differently so things could have happened more like the video, it's so tragic that he's completely helpless to do ANYTHING and yet conscious to witness the downfall... Mouthwashing is such a. a Game

and I think a lot of ppl forget how little time Curly had between Anya telling him about the SA (which I believe happened after the dead pixel scene). And Jimmy literally crashed the ship literally the day he found out Anya was pregnant. He could've definitely been more active instead of procrastinating or smth, but bro doing nothing for 2 days shouldn't be representative of what he would've done if he had more time.
Alsooo I'd like to add that the "alternative universe" sequences are Curly's imagination. It's a very idealized version of what would've actually happened if Jimmy didn't crash the ship. Reality would've been much messier than the happily ever after that was presented here, but Curly's just so full of guilt and self-hatred (and is probably tripping out on drugs and excuriating pain lol) that he believes it would be true. This has nothing to do w what you said btw I just wanted to say that lol.

AND YEAH THAT'S WHAT I THOUGHT!! But DAMN all the sadder to have it confirmed ☹️ That's kinda what I meant with what I was saying like.... He probably does spend a lot of time thinking about that. The way everyone (who is not Jimmy) looks happy in the alternate universe does a good job of conveying the guilt I think - in a sense of "if I had done something, everything would've been good, but now everything is the worst it could get"

This is so good, and when it gets to the end, it is curly anya daisuke all happy only if curly stepped his foot down and did the right thing cuz they would have not needed the pod at all if curly did the right thing and put jimmy in the pod instead of just wanting to talk things out with jimmy. and at the end, anya gets her doctor's degree,😭👏 and curly is maybe idk holding her kid maybe idk im sorry if im wrong and curly playing baseball is so cute i wise we could have seen that and daisuke becomes an artist is so cute!!!😭😭😭👏👏👏 this is so sad if curly just done the right thing and put him/jimmy in the pod but its jimmy who did it 😔 jimbo jimmy and i felt so sad seeing 0:25 this scene then at the end the roles are deffrieant 0:59 if only it was the first one then maybe things could have been in a deffrieant way. And aww, swansea getting a grandchild is so sweet to think about cuz him getting a better life then what he has in the game is so sweet and refreshing to imagen him getting out of his old ways and took responsibility of his life and made a freah and new life better then his old one and now has a grandchild because of it!!!!
@@eggsyontheside Though an argument could be that Curly has a savior complex. He thinks everything can be fixed by talking or he's supposed to take the role of the "peace maker". I think he's also pretty stressed cause Jimmy is also the co-piolot, and he could grab the gun or screw something up.
Curly thought that if he ignored everything or tried to talk to Jimmy, the whole team would be okay. Another stress point is that he had been feeling the pressures of being the captain and didn't want to take on anymore work.
While Curly isn't a bad person or immoral character, he isn't a "good" one or moral righteously either. I'd say he's more of a morally gray character with mental health and stress issues. (Alongside everyone else basically.)
That's what I like about this game, the characters are complex instead of just plainly a "good" or "bad" one.
( Obviously except for Jimmy, but there's also some points for him that he was very into his delusions and genuinely thought he was doing good stuff.)

And adding to the point abt him being hella stressed, I think a part of why he wasn't taking more initiative was because he's the kind to ignore/run away from his problems, or turns to toxic positivity. In How Fish Is Made (the game Wrong Organ made b4 Mouthwashing), Curly makes an appearance and confesses that he kept working for Pony Express because nothing followed him in space, nothing (I think) being whatever interpersonal issues he was going through at Earth. Or the line that said smth like "At first I couldn't stand the noise (of the Tulpar?), now I can't sleep without it." Which to me sounds like learning to use his work as a coping mechanism, to let himself forget about the chaos with the monotony of his job.
So when Anya told him abt the SA/pregnancy, he sorta reverts to his habit of ignoring the problem. The stress, the pressure, the knowledge his best friend was a horrible person and that he had a hand in Anya's trauma, it became way too much for him to handle. So instead of jumping into action, he took his time. Or procrastinated lol
Tbh this is more of a baseless headcanon cuz I don't think there's enough actual evidence for it. Curly didn't know Jimmy was crazy enough to crash the fucking ship so he probably took his time bcuz he thought he had more time to make up a plan. Buutttt it's fun to think about anyway lmao

@@eggsyontheside I love all of the characters. BUT DAISUKE ANYA AND CURLY ARE MY BABIES. Swansea, hated him at first, but he kind of grew on me. Especially at the speech before his death.. 🙁 Jimmy I liked since the start.
