1. He made Chapek the fall guy for his mistakes.
2. Current Disney films suck.
3. The parks are too expensive and the reservation/genie systems detract from the experience.
Iger was chairman of the board during most of Chapek’s tenure as CEO, he can’t scapegoat his way out of this, he’s culpable. I can’t wait to read the books that will be written about this time in the company’s history, it will make the end of the Eisner era look trivial! All in the name of keeping their ESG overlords happy at Black Rock, Vanguard and State Street.

Let's not forget that all the movies that have bombed at the boxoffice up to this point were totally greenlighted by Bob Iger (all of them!) and in real terms the first movie greenlighted by Bob Chapek is the upcoming Deadpool 3!

Igers said he was disappointed with what he was seeing during Chapeks nine months as CEO as the stock price rose to a new high, Imagine how Peltz, Perlmutter and all shareholders are feeling since the return of Iger when the stock value dropped 70%. More than disappointed I am certain!😢
Disney did all this to themselves, and by letting go of talent such as myself who cared greatly, and hiring in people who dont know what they are doing, and are friends or family of higher ups is the reason for this result, they are the masters of thier own fate and their new attractions and movies have all been horrible!
This, Royce, is, both, the evidence and the symptom of the mismanagement of The Disney Company over the last 5 years. Disney's biggest and most unique element has always been the depth of talent and foresight of its creative and implementation staff. With a big nod to the mechanics and engineers whose massive abilities and esoteric knowledge have been forever lost by Disney's inability to keep them employed at any cost. The "Bobs" allowed (or more rightly, ejected) an enormous amount of the unique talent that had collected around the spirit of creating and making of actual magic. A loss that is most likely unrecoverable, and may become the downfall of the company!
How about they dont care for cast members I was a former cast member, and the way we were treated was insane. I am 48 years old and have been working since I was fourteen and Disney was the worst place I have ever worked for. I LOVE DISNEY and dislike the LEADERSHIP. THIS is What they sowed and now they are reaping their own demise.
The true genius of Disney has always come from dreamers, people who dared to dream the impossible, innovators willing to take risks, and management that values, supports, and has faith in those that they have hired. That is what creates magic. When management no longer believes in the dream and stops listening to the dreamers, the magic fades away.
When they let go of all the Disney Imagineers before they brought in Pixar. That I noticed is when Disney started going down the drain to woke, DEI.
I have always felt that Disney lost their way when their arrogance lost Harry Potter as the team behind that project were passionate yet Management knew best.
How the Hatbox Ghost wasn't ready for Halloween is beyond me. Disney is so slow!
Disney got a hatbox and Universal got Epic Universe.
They really just need to gut the Disney board. They need to have more people with vision and less people like the GMCEO, who is using her position only to enrich herself and her actual focus GM not Disney. There’s a reason test track gets to flash GM everywhere and it’s not in the best interest of Disney I can promise that. I don’t think anyone on the board really has Disney’s best interest at heart anymore. They are only concerned about the next quarter and can’t see the overall picture anymore.
Say what you want, but that’s the only attraction that’s getting an actual update and will probably be done on time too.

Which is why Disney dropped all their claims in Federal court except for the amazingly dumb first amendment claim. If they keep insisting they were harmed with Reedy Creek, what they are really claiming is thatReedy Creek was an entity of Disney and not an independent municipal government. If that's really their claim then they are admitting to massive municipal bond fraud. Yeah, let's see how that works out for them. Even dumber than the firefighters getting up in public and complaining that their illegal gifts they had been getting for decades were taken away.

Luckily for the firefighters the new board isn't as evil as morons like you want to pretend because all those people were committing decades of municipal fraud - and then complaining about it on camera! The new board hasn't even really started digging into the old Reedy Creek books. Reedy Creek shared corporate council with Disney - yeah, nothing suspicious there. It's amazing people like you think Disney is the one in a position of strength when the opposite is true. Disney was so arrogant, never thought Reedy Creek would be taken away, that they DOCUMENTED their shenanigans for decades. I hope I have enough popcorn!
Disney was granted Reedy Creek because Walt had a vision of building an actual city. Experimental Prototype CITY of Tomorrow. Unfortunately Walt died early. And before he was cold Disney corporate pivoted from the city to just a theme park. As soon as they did that the reason for Reedy Creek evaporated, but politicians never had the balls to go up against Disney and pull it back. That's what makes it so hilarious that Disney decided to get political. If Disney hadn't gotten into Florida politics, they would have never given our feckless politicians the political cover to finally remedy Reedy Creek. But Disney did, and here we are - they have no one to blame but themselves for killing the goose that was laying golden eggs.
Things haven't even gotten started with Disney and their graft and overreach with RCID. Not that I expect deluded people like you to grasp it - but it's still going to be amazing to watch!
Hopefully epic universe poaches enough tourists that the Disney board is forced to replace bob with staggs, bob focusing on streaming and culture war has no benefits for shareholders or tourism

I have no clue what is going on behind the scenes of Disney. Chapek was there for just a few months, the board fires him for doing a bad job when the stock was at $200, and brought Iger back to be captain of the Titanic? They will never fire Iger if they haven't fired him yet. What the hell is going on? I've never before seen a company that so badly wants to go up in flames
Trust the very same people who destroyed the company or vote in Peltz? The choice couldn’t be more obvious.
Same problem most countries have when electing leaders. Wanna stick with proven failure? Unfortunately, sometimes that answer appears to be yes. A lot of times, actually.
My family has avoided going to Disney World and Disneyland for several years now, whereas before we went at least once a year. We believe they lost sight of us, the fans.

I think Iger’s emphasis on entertaining is infuriating, he has clearly lost sight of what the brand once was. Anyone can entertain, Disney is so beloved because they went beyond entertaining, Disney made magic. Iger seems to have lost sight of that.

The imagineers need more say in the direction of future peojects including the finalization process. We get all these amazing concept arts for pitential expansions or rides then the disney bowrd declines it because of related costs. Womt be soon until disney gets passed by other film and attraction companies... Sad to see
They need to bring back the older imagineers to remind them how to make quality decent movies.
They'd have to steal them back from Universal, who pays and appreciates them more.

Braydon, you made quick reference to Chapek starting the whole Genie+ system. A few other Disney news sources have explained that the plan for Genie+ actually started in concept under Iger; Chapek just followed through with a plan Iger would’ve implemented.

I think he meant the DisneyWorld versions maybe because they were copies of Disneyland with some changes? And maybe the changes negate some of the original story? Not quite sure.
Perlmutter is doing this for personal reasons, and Peltz is his friend.

I’d love to see the company sell off ESPN, ABC and FOX then take the company back private. Get rid of these investment companies that only care about seeing the bottom line increase year after year instead of concentrating on providing the entertainment and “magic” that Disney is best at creating. The company (to please the stock market) has lost sight of its original mission and core values.
Actually the idea that Disney is run by investors that only care about money is a total lie! If investors at the current Disney board cared about money they would be pushing for things that actually made money and obviously that is not the case here! The idiologs that have infested Disney (Marvel Studio's, Pixar animation and Lucasfilm in particular) do not care about investor's money... They care about "the message"!

Your diagnosis for why the investors are hurting the company is completely off base. Those who “only care about the bottom line” are the ones you should be rooting for, because the creativity and magic you reference sells and drives the price up. So those who “only care about the bottom line” agree with you. It’s the Blackrock’s and other institutional investment firms that come in with an agenda and force Disney to inject DEI into everything, that are truly ruining this company and driving this desire to pump out utter crap. Those with money to lose who only seek to further their own interests are the ones you should be concerned with.

Strong branding is a double-edged sword. If someone is a Disney+ Member and intends to continue her or his subscription, then spending an additional amount of money to see a film in theatres that one knows will be available on the service in a few weeks and at no additional charge is going to be a much tougher sell.
Very few people are subscribed to Peacock, conversely, and even fewer know that "Super Mario Bros." and "Minions" will eventually be there.
I mean, yes, Haunted Mansion is a collection of scenes rather than a story but the original Imagineers still went to great lengths to design an emotionally immersive sequence of scenes. That sequence includes setting up the more mysterious haunted aspects of the mansion before the visual materialization of its ghosts. The Hatbox violently interrupts that sequence. Nothing in the early scenes sets up the guests' expectation of seeing a full-blown ghost out of nowhere. That is a serious design flaw.
There actually was/is a story that revolves around the bride in the attic having killed off one husband after another. Supposedly there's some kind of story to that and tie-in.
Can you do an update on the new Luminous show? Show design and infrastructure changes to the lagoon to make it happen? Thanks!
They lost attendance because they lost the "Magic"...if you wrote down all the things Disney World got rid of or changed for the worse....you would have a very long list. Not to mention how Disney used to have a mystique that kept people intrigued.....now, all the park secrets etc are all on youtube from previous cast members. It's too late, they waited to long to fix things.

Dividends are just a matter of reinvestment. Disney+ needed capital to launch, so, instead of giving shareholders dividends, that money was used for the launch.

Iger will not be gone in 2026. He has a contract for I believe 6 years after he leaves as CEO. He still has the vast majority of that left to control who is CEO. Just like he did with Chapek. Iger created Chapek. If he didn’t like what he turned out to be it’s his fault. Also Chapek didn’t go through the normal process to be hired as CEO of Disney. He was told a while before Iger left of the real process and there were many steps in it. Then Iger sees what’s gonna happen with the impending pandemic. Bails and runs away , basically saying, here Chapek your in charge now, but your not, because I’m your boss and your not getting the CEO suite, because I like to shower at work.
