What do I do if I never had system restore set up on my computer and I need to recover a folder with certain files and I need those files back to the original folder? I messed up with a virtual machine in virtual box and on the virtual machine, I need the files from that machine on virtual box. Create a Restore image and save it on a thumbdrive is your best bet..on paper .But even that could fail ( happened to me ) .So the best thing to clean a mess is just to reinstalling windows.
After installing a feature update, job #1 is to go to search, system restore , click on drive C then configure. You must turn system restore on. Then, immediately configure your 1st restore point. Now, you will always have a restore point. Follow the video instructions given to uninstall a problem update first. Then, if necessary, go back to a restore point.

Hi, I accidentally pressed sysprep cleanup phase on my laptop and I have no reset date setup on my laptop. How can I reset my laptop by to the day before I done a sysprep cleanup phase.
All my restore points got erased at startup and I found max usage percentage got set to 0. I "successfully" created a new one but it very slowly builds up in space every time I click Configure. I temporally disabled system restore after it kept growing past 500MB in a few hours, and sfc scans and a DISM fix didn't resolve why it is so damn slow. I don't know if it is safe to turn off my laptop like this.

So! What if you can't get into your system, Windows 10, and therefore cannot get into Safe mode? You can't F8 in Windows 10, so how would you get into Safe mode under these circumstances?

( i check the box of "hide all microsoft services") and after that it won't search in the search bar anymore... and when i go to safe mode it always pop up "ctfmon.exe error". restore does not go back to another Windows version. You had 10 days to roll back, the only way to go back after that is to re-install Windows 8 completely
I think this is a BS system. Nobody unless you’re a computer geek knows you even have this app. If your PC crashes you just sit there and let it die. When should I know to make one? Why won’t it make one for me? Be smart Windows.
I updated my driver with Nvida GeForce driver 451.67 (which is compatible with my PC specialist Windows 10, GTX 860M) laptop. Since then I can't access my very important Softwares (Design Builder, Revit, AutoCAD Architecture) Prior to this installation , I didn't set a restore point on my computer. Please how can I restore my computer to an earlier date, so that I can get my system running to how it used to be?? Note that I have tried uninstall in the driver yet the my Softwares keep malfunctioning.

never count on restore points, just make partition image and store it somewhere safe.. plenty of tools to do that

The second I used a cache cleaner, all my restore points got deleted :( and now I can't find them...

A restore point is utterly useless if the system never ever completes the restore process due to whatever unknown mistake !!
