I have one (01 540i titan silver) but with the manual (same box from the M5 and the E46 M3 - the 420g). It's hard to find one now with the 6 speed let alone one in good condition...

It sounds like something in the electrics isn't grounded properly, causing a high pitched sound that rises and falls with the RPMs due to the alternator, which makes it sound almost like it's supercharged on the interior shot
