There have been few record labels that have made such an indelible mark on the landscape of electronic music as Poker Flat. Founded by Steve Bug in 1999, the label coined a sound and style that dominated club culture for years. Glitchy, mechanised beats paired with moody pads and sinister chords would take hold of the club scene in the mid 00s, but Poker Flat championed these stripped-back sounds well ahead of the pack.
With a back catalogue that includes more than 300 releases, it’s no surprise that many of these remain club staples to this day. Many artists now recognised as household names got their first break with Poker Flat, and the label prides itself on discovering and championing the next wave of artists.
Key to Poker Flat’s success has been their refusal to chase after trends, instead remaining focussed on the sound with which they established themselves. Their aim for the future is to continue to keep putting out exceptional electronic music from exceptional artists.

the fact that this is a song about how a dog loves its human, its amazing.
The man who trained Laika, profoundly regretted what he did. It makes it no better. I hope you are happy across the rainbow bridge, sweet Laika.

Can't believe this one is from 2004, ahead of its time and completely timeless. I was captivated since the first time i listened to it. And the video is wonderful, dogs are the biggest gift life ever gave us.
I looked it up and it says 2007. Though, it could have been a song recorded years earlier they didn't make a video to until much later. 2007 makes more sense as it was the 50th anniversary of her trip.

i heard this song first time 17 years ago ! everything has changed since then from me to the world we live in ... i remember the bliss of being 15 asking parents for money ,going out on weekends ,afterparties, also one thing i could have never imagined having to say girls were girls ,boys were boys our society was in a very good place back in late 2000s comparing to now.This song basically makes me think so much !

ham radio operators reported hearing lakias heartbeat even though the dog was already dead by that point which led to a conspiracy theory that her space capsule had a dead man switch that would activate whenever onboard sensors detected that the dog was dead in order the make people believe that the dog was still alive even though the dog was already dead by that point however their is no proof that this conspiracy theory was ever real in the first place😥🛰📡

Turns out she wasn't the first dog they sent up and not the last either. One of the scientists later said that "we didn't learn enough from this mission to justify her death." 💔

What a gorgeous little dog in this video! 😍 Those eyes! What a tribute to Laika. Though technically, Laika didn't have an owner as she was a stray. A tragic and unescessary death under the cruel hands of humans. This is why I have always been against animal testing. And always will be.

Im big fan of Trentemoller's music from Russia, and i agree with you! Always cryin when see that vid=,( It always sad and isn't fair when human make hurt animal.
Such a wonderful song! This is a music video with a message about the seperation of a pet and owner. The nerverending pseudo-facts about Laika, beign either male / female, stray or not, little time to live or not, it doesnt matter at this point. Trentemoller delivered this gem. A perfect song with a reminder of every dog's ever ending love to his human/mommy/dad remains until its last breath. Bravo et félicitations for this videoclip. Extremely touching, sad yet it holds a huge statement against animal cruelty used for science.

For those unfamiliar with Laika's story. She was sent up to study the effects of space on a living organism, before blasting any humans up. Unfortunately, something went wrong, and the heat in the capsule went up so high, she was roasted to death.

Laika likely died within hours after launch from overheating, possibly caused by a failure of the central R-7 sustainer to separate from the payload. The true cause and time of her death was not made public until 2002.

It disintegrated in the atmosphere after 5 months in orbit, because of it's relatively low orbit of 212 x 1 600 km.

Actually that is what Oleg Gazenko said. He was the person who trained and supervised Laika. I agree with him they shouldn't have done it or at least send a different animal like a rat or something.
