I looked it up and it says 2007. Though, it could have been a song recorded years earlier they didn't make a video to until much later. 2007 makes more sense as it was the 50th anniversary of her trip.
My dog passed away 10 days ago. She was the love of my life and my soul mate. Can't hold my tears listening to this song, and hope my baby girl's doing alright wherever she is. Constantly thinking about her, and I can't get through this at all... Love you, Lariat.

Actually that is what Oleg Gazenko said. He was the person who trained and supervised Laika. I agree with him they shouldn't have done it or at least send a different animal like a rat or something.
