My favourite answer to: "Why isn't there a straight pride parade?", will always be: "There is. It's called a traffic jam."
I would say it's more of a 216 car pile up.
Straight pride parade? Did you mean car crash in the Chik Fil A drive thru?
I will use this
alternately, spring break
@@GoroAkechi_Real That not funny, think about all the poor chicken that died for transphobic company
When straight people whine about not getting celebrations it honestly feels like a rich little kid whining about how he doesn’t get a present from make-a-wish just because he doesn’t have cancer. Like yeah, you don’t have cancer, you don’t need a present. Likewise, if you don’t face discrimination, you don’t need celebrations to spread awareness.
Exactly
Ironically, they're also the same Straights who are afraid to ever question their own sexuality or gender, because they might not like what they find. It'd be like if that rich kid believed that cancer awareness could somehow spread cancer to him, so he doesn't want to hear about it, let alone get tested.
Yeah. When heterosexual people are publicly executed for being heterosexual, _then_ we can talk about them having their own celebration of existence.

It's actually quite fitting that you mention veterans, because these same people always complain about LGBT+ getting attention and not veterans, but you don't see any of them helping veterans at all :v
@@flipflop3933 yep
Exactly, pointing out and shining a light on oppression is important...white people such as myself don't really deserve a day like that and neither do cis-hets because they don't know what it's like for people like us, I've literally been yelled at, had a whole party stop and had a guy yell at me because I wasted ten minutes of his time for flirting with him and he thought I was going home with him....I'm Ace and a lot of the time that stuff just goes over my head and I think people are just being friendly. BTW, he also threw his drink all over my outfit, which was LIT!!!
Straight and white ppl are lucky they don't need those
Exactly. And the people who complain about LGBT+ people don't really seem to care about veterans, either

@@pastelk Sounds a lot like when cis women are like “I’m not a cis woman, I’m a biological woman”
Oh, they're more than welcome to continue insisting they're not heterosexual, and not cisgender.
It’s so funny when they say “Thank straight people for your existence”, especially because my mother is literally bisexual lmao
@@krimsonkatt To add to that - no law of biology forbids asexual, gay and lesbian folk from being donors/clients of a sperm bank (or even just having sex specifically for purpose of procreation, if they don't mind). And even on top of that, we also have to consider gay trans man that may still be capable of giving birth and lesbian trans woman that still may be capable of producing sperm... @@xWolfDOFR To be fair, a lot of those options weren't available for the millenia of human existence; heterosexual activity was crucial to getting mankind as a whole where it is today. And here’s me, a cis female, who’s been misgendered all my life lol. Am I the straight persons dog in this situation 😂😂? Should I not get mad? I’m sorry, I probably shouldn’t be bothered to be misgendered because I’m not trans but it doesn’t feel right nonetheless 😅
@@reni9k612 it's ok to not like to be misgendered, no one really likes it! Ps: english is my second language so i prob wrote quite some things wrong LOL
I speak for any DECENT straight person who is your friend/family when I say, honestly I don't give one flying crap about your preference in bed. I will try my best to respect your pronouns, but please don't try to shove it in my face. I'm sorry if I offend you by saying this, but I really hate it when certain lgbt members use sexuality as a way to justify certain actions, like yelling in my face when I accidentally use the wrong pronouns. Sexuality or being trans doesn't justify hurting the people that actually support you and your decisions.
Me talking for myself I'm sorry if this offends you, but when someone yells in my face over my mistake it hurts. I'm a cis straight female and I have autism, so most of the time I don't catch social cues and make a mistake. I make it blatant that I have this and I make a mistake here and there without realizing. So when people say, "That's not an excuse for misgendering me" it hurts. Bc Autism and any mental or social disability is a real problem that causes people to accidentally say something wrong and not realize it or not be able to learn as quickly as most would like. Sorry if I'm rambling and it's bothering you. I will stop now.
Misgender a cis straight person's baby, and feel the wrath of all the demons from the deepest pits of hell descend upon you.

As a cisgendered woman and a feminist, it pisses me off to no end when people pretend they are being bigoted to "protect" me. I can speak for myself. I am not your moral body shield, and I am not taking bullets of criticism for you so you don't have to.

As the dad of a strong, smart woman, I was delighted by your post. Excuse an old-fashioned grandfather for wanting to add you to the "daughter collection". And thanks for a great post, Sarah.
The whole notion of "protecting" women is so infantalizing. It's not a matter of protecting anyone, it's a matter of stopping the (actual) harms in the first place. The goal of feminism isn't, for example, to secure the "privlege" of fighting for reproductive rights. It's the vindication of the rights themselves.
Don't you just love how LGBTQ+ people will be told by straight people that we care too much about things like sexuality and gender but they'll be the ones to constantly bring up biological sex and post disturbing things like that last post that talk about genitals matching pronouns. It’s sad, my mom is not against LGBTQ+, but she is generally scared for my that I’m pansexual and genderfluid, not because she’s against it, she’s says I can be who I am and love who I love and all of that, but she heard stories about people being kidnapped, tortured, and killed just because they were gay and proud, so she’s scared for me to fully come out

Here's hoping we see a day where there is no need for lgbtqia+ pride. NOT because it's been banned but because it's as normal and acceptable to be lgbtqia+ as it is to be straight
A guy in my class is super homophobic and because his opinion is the "only valid one" all the other boys just.. agree (even though I don't think that's what they genuienly think about lgbtq)
So we have this half of the class that makes homophobic and transphobic jokes vs me, a very queer trans guy (still questioning but I think this is what I am) that loves talking about my "future wife" (still look very much like a girl so yesh but yah) and what it's like having cool queer friends, I do it extra much because I know it annoyes the hell out of that one guy.

Our current topic in English class is gender identity (my teacher is really cool and a friend of mine and me both think he might be queer himself) and I feel sorry for him because of all the comments the boys just make that are so damn unnecessary, but in todays lesson we watched a short film and the boys actually weren't so against it.

Yes but actually yes
What always strikes me about the "why is there no straight pride" crowd is that if it was genuine, there would be a lot of diversity to celebrate. Biological parents, adoptive parents, bonus parents, love overcoming prejudice or racism, young love, finding new love at an old age, sex positivity, sex with disability... god forbid even kink.
If you wanted to, there is straight pride to be celebrated that would make total sense, and be inclusive. But that is not what they are asking for...
Not to mention straight trans people!
And straight aces, straight intersex people, heterosexual relationships between people in the LGBTQ community...ect; even straight people who are questioning aspects of their identity. Honestly, we really should have straights represented at pride, if nothing else than to get the bigots to shut up about that. (I am saying this as a bi nb married to a pan in a homosexual-presenting relationship just to be clear before anyone jumps to conclusions)
@@PlatonicLiquid um, those people are represented at pride. Asexuals, intersex people, questioning, those are all under the LGBTQIA+ umbrella. Heterosexuality itself isn't "represented" but there are plenty of people in the alphabet mafia that represent it by being themselves. Also, heterosexual relationships with LGBTQIA+ individuals aren't a valid reason. If two opposite gender bisexuals get together, they are both still bisexual and in a bisexual relationship. Two opposite gender heterosexual trans people can get together, too, and it may be a heterosexual relationship but that doesn't exclude them from pride. Even if only one member of that relationship was trans, it would still be a LGBTQIA+ relationship even though both people are straight. Maybe I read too much into that one in particular because it offended me personally since that's shit I've been told (you're dating X, you're basically straight now!) all my life, but I still feel my point is justified on that one.
Plus, hets and cis people aren't bAnNeD or whatever from pride. They can join us to support their LGBTQIA+ loved ones or just show up to party with us. As long as they aren't rude or phobic, everyone can go. Heterosexuality doesn't warrant its own representation. Heterosexuality has no negative connotation in society; it's a default. Saying it needs to be represented in pride is like saying white people need to be represented during black history month. No, that's not for them, and pride isn't for heterosexuality. Pride isn't just a party, chief, it's about awareness. Everyone knows what straight people do, are, what they've done, etc. How many LGBTQIA+ inventors or scientists do you know off the top of your head? Do you know what common things you use were made or the creation/use of made possible because of work done by people in the alphabet mafia? Probably not, right? Pride is meant to raise awareness of those great things we've done but never got credited for, to be loud and demand equal rights, to say we don't deserve to be discriminated against for being born.
Heterosexuality does not need that. The bigots can stay mad. They'll never be happy anyway.
@@keythealien All fair points. I guess I just wish more people recognized that you can be straight and queer, and that we can celebrate anyone's identity.
A lot of those things aren’t exclusive to heterosexuals. This reminds me of my friend who literally two days ago said "I don't get why transgender people (she said it in a much worse way tbh but I'm gonna paraphrase) have to debate their gender all the time, like who cares? Just live your life without talking about it" and when I said people shouldn't have to debate it because it's nobody else's business, but since they're discriminated against and literally killed for being themselves they have to defend themselves, she still didn't understand. She just said (sorry for thansphobia) "but what if women don't want guys who think they're women in their changing rooms" and I was just stumped. Like, people actually think like that outside of extreme internet echo chambers? She's also right-wing so that might explain it. Sometimes I forget people are so narrowminded, and then they remind me and disappoint me so damn much.
Maybe rethink that friendship a bit. Someone who can't respect and have compassion for people literally getting killed won't respect you or think of your feelings when you need it. I hope she rethinks some things
I’d show her a picture of a trans man, and ask which changing room she’d want this person in, and not tell her he’s trans until she’d-correctly-answered that he belongs with others of his gender.
Communal changing rooms are a violation of privacy regardless of gender. Changing rooms should be small, lockable booths for one person at a time. Likewise, toilets should come in lockable stalls. Likewise, showers should come in lockable stalls (except those that sometimes exist in public pools that aren't gender segregated anyway because you're supposed to be wearing swimwear while using them - distinct from the entrance/exit showers that are used to get clean before and/or after the main part of your visit). All of these should be visually insulated from floor to ceiling. No gender segregation, only individual privacy.

5:48 that image with a (probably) heterosexual couple just kissing at some sort of festival and the "why is there no straight pride?" kinda quote on it is just... they were so goddamn close to the answer.
The videos that you and Shaaba have done helped me find the confidence to come out as Bisexual to my sister!! the first person I ever came out to and it went perfectly, and saying the words out loud felt so right after 25 years of internalised homophobia from the church and my parents and trying to convince myself that i wasn't who I am. I just wanted to say thankyou so much to you both!!!!
Also these straights not being okay videos are always great.
Congrats on coming out and hopefully you won't have any trouble with your closest ones as you continue doing so.
As someone who's almost certainly straight, I do enjoy these videos but do need to intersect them with wholesomer meme analysis of 'straights being okay' or the ones from trans redit etc. just to not stick only to darker humor or remind myself how recently I held some of these views...
The only time my boyfriend has ever had a problem with Pride was when we were trying to get out of York station when seemingly everyone in the world had been there and were trying to get in, and that’s only cos he really hates crowds.
Understandable tbh
@@exist4046 it was just bad timing on our part too, half an hour either way and it would have been fine
Thats totally understandable. Crowds suck.
When I go to Pride celebrations, I usually go walk around the gayborbood for a couple of hours and find somewhere else in the City to have dinner so it's not so crowded when I'm taking the train home.
I'll take a Pride crowd over St Patrick's, Cinco de Mayo or NYE trainload, though.
@@kidlitfanful the worst are St George’s Day here, mainly because it’s only celebrated by people who post “British by birth, English by the grace of God” on their Facebook and they’re the worst people in the world.
“im straight and proud” ….why???
what has your “community” done to be proud of? what have you overcome?
As a straight, that’s a good question. 🤷🏻♀️
Was gonna say overcome being a bigot but...
mfs overcame instinctively saying the f slur when they see a gay person
@@evasionefiscalegang or when one of their straight friends does smth dumb
Erm, kept our species alive?
I have a really good example of this. The other day in the lab I found a colour swatch book for paint colours, and they were in all just shoved in at random. I made a comment to a collegue saying they should have arranged it in rainbow order.
He got mad and said not everything had to be rainbow and just because I was LGBTQ+ didn't mean everything had to be rainbow, bla bla bla. But that's not the reason I wanted it rainbow to begin with, it would just make sense for colour flow and would make comparing similar colours easier. And you could even argue they are then sorted into light wavelength with is super handy for a lab setting.
Just because I like rainbows and use them to organize my space doesn't mean it is always linked to LGBTQ+ things. Sometimes, it's just a rainbow. 🤣
When colours aren't organised in a rainbow I have trouble looking at it.. how do people just have random colours everywhere?
some kid back in high school was arguing with a group of LGBT students and asked “why isn’t there a straight pride month” so my teacher interrupted with “every day is straight pride” she was such a legend
good teacher XD
One of my trans friends got hit on by a cishet in a COD lobby I think and so he called her a straight man when she is a trans lesbian. Everyone else on their team agreed with her and the cishet rage quit out. It was hilarious to hear about
That's rare, people being respectful and defending someone on COD?
jammi calling a roblox character "a dis proportianate lego figure" made my day
Jamie: "I am wearing something under this very loud..."
Me, very clearly seeing the shirt he has on: "OH NO, HE NAKED!"
My mind is silly.
I’m not the most qualified, but I think a lot of this is a misunderstanding of what the purpose of pride parades are. It’s not just for celebrating being LGBT+ just to celebrate it. It doesn’t mean straight and Cis people don’t matter at all. It’s at least partly about awareness. It’s about saying “We’re here and you cant change us!” We’re not looking for more rights, we want equal rights. No one is trying to change straight or cis people.
Just as a point though, please do not glare at a straight person/couple at a pride event unless they’re actually being homophobic/transphobic. They might just be there with their LGBT family. Maybe they’re trans. Maybe they’re bi or pan in a straight relationship. Even just allies. Come on, people!
For the “straight slurs” thing, I think people think “breeder” is a slur???
I’ve heard straggot too but it’s mostly used as a joke ??
@@sleeptoodream
Straggot sounds like a type of noodle
Just call them Defaults.
LGBTQ community doesn't even call people breeders, lmao. The childfree community use that word, and only for worthless parents who ain't being parents properly
Things I call them: The straights, heteros (derogatory), hets, defaults and breeders. Very basic I know, I need more
The bad homophobic memes make me sad and then Jamie makes me smile.
It all balances out in the end.
I am a proud straight person. I am proud that I'm not a lesbian anymore! Not because I was magically "healed" from my gayness but because I am a trans-man and I finally had my surgery.
I am proud that I can like girls and be straight, because that means I am a real man
6:15 the child us looking at us trying to tell us that their parents are bi & pan and that the label is wrong

Straight was never an option.
You are all valid, worth everything and it's always worth going on.

Im straight and proud! I guess. I mean im straight. And im proud., though of my accomplishments, my choices, etc.
When will they learn that “pride” in this context, or in “im irish and im proud” in the 20s, or “ive had an abortion and im proud” isn’t about actual pride like in our accomplish, enta, but is a stand to say “im here, im just as good as you, stop erasing people who look (or act) like me.”
i had a guy in one of my high school classes ask me why there was no straight pride once. i asked him how many countries it was illegal and punishable by death to be straight in. he shut up immediately
I think that many people really doesn't get that the whole pride thing isn't about being special, they don't understand it's about having the same rights... I guess they don't care to learn
You are right. We don't care about y'all
Yeah I just like the design of the pride flag for abrosexual which is what I am so I have it in profile picture
6:50 no, it’s roblox lol
I want the “ENTERING HETEROSEXUAL AREA” warning sign and I want to prop it up in front of various funny locations -any recommendations?😜
