    We had two big trees growing too close to our home, so we had them cut down 5 years ago. What do you do with the stump? Make a Gnome home of course!

    I love this! I have a street tree that the city's been threatening to cut down due to voids in the trunk that make it dangerous. I'll miss the tree but I've dreamed of at least putting a little roof on the 5-foot "stump" and letting the birds continue to nest in the voids. Thanks for posting this - now I can share it with the city tree crew when it comes time to "do in" the tree...

    You are as bad as me! When my kids got projects I would go totally overboard with 3D miniature models with working doors etc. The kids used to get good marks even if they hadn't seen it till they took it to school Lol! I am supposed to be a grown up now (my kids are starting to have kids ...one of them is married with a good job and two lovely kids. The younger is at Uni doing third year Law so my taking over their projects didn't impact on them too badly!) as I was saying I'm nearer 60 than 30 lol and last year I saw a wooden mini rocking chair in a charity shop and when I went in they had a wicker and wood chair too..same size, so by the time my partner gets home from work I've built a to scale mini studio flat for the cats with very convincing painted windows and a 3D Woodburning stove, on this huge sheet of heavy card from the art shop, a carpet, bamboo blinds on the fake Windows and little cupboards that I once bought (again at a charity shop!) Do you think there's something wrong with us or are we just nurturing our inner children? LOL (this is true FYI!).

    • @paulwelkinsdiy
      @paulwelkinsdiy  8 лет назад +7

      +Anne Anderson (Foxiepaws) I think it's common to do a bit of regression when we get older. Maybe for you it's kind of like playing with a doll house, but you know what you want, and are mature and talented enough to pull it off. It's fun, Yes? Same goes with me. My fascination with small shelters is kind of a control issue. If you see some of my videos you'll notice my cluttered shop- I have a hard time throwing stuff away. So the small shelters are a way of having just what you need and a place for all your items. Some day I'll learn to purge, but till then I'll probably keep making small shelters. It's a good past time.

    When cutting down/removing trees, think season........As a Wildlife Rehabber, most of the arboreal wildlife babies &/or injured adults we treat, come to the shelter, IF they survive the crash. When falling your trees, first consider the season & who is raising their family up there.
