Re the HMRC case, if such a call is received, one should ask the caller to contact him/her in writing. Government agents will never make cold calls but write to the person who might have issues.

HMRC never contact you by phone unless you requested particularly. HMRC usually send letters. Public service usually contact people by letters. NHS only phone up to make urgent appointments for the follow up checks, but they will send letter once the appointment is confirmed.

佢改咩電話號碼都可以，任何野叫佢哋寄信，或上門找自己，騙徒佢哋係地址都有可能有
盡量反覆確認下，等啲騙徒知難而退
如果係有相關機構聯絡電話，應該係你打俾佢，而唔係佢打俾你。來電顯示，好易做假。

英國政府部門懶過鬼，佢唔會有時間打電話俾你，就算要告你佢哋都係只會用書信來往.所有嘢就叫佢哋put it in writing please!HMRC 唔會一嚟就告你，佢哋會來信通知你付款plus interest charge !🤓

Right now in hk, many people just don’t pick up calls from unknown sources! I guess people who work at banks find it harder to promote any plans !
