- On April 29, 1974, President Richard Nixon addressed the nation from the White House and announced the release of edited transcripts of secretly taped conversations about the Watergate scandal. "I want there to be no question remaining about the fact that the president has nothing to hide in this matter," Nixon said in the speech. On Aug. 8, 1974, Nixon announced his resignation from office.

Trump surpassed Nixon !!
I remember this well, I was twenty-one and a bit at the time. His face was hilarious then and as I watch it now, I find it still is. Ignominy at its best.
A criminal with two different sets of federal charges because the Supreme Courty was educated then. His charges were Presidential and Personal federal charges. Because that is the law. Always has been.

CBS, please bring back the streaming morning show back to RUclips. Thank you
Don't forget he was pardoned soon after he resigned. Nixon was never prosecuted for his crimes. If Nixon was made to stand trial, he would have been severely punished. That would be the precedence we would have to guide us in the courts today. Trump needs to be made an example of. Trump for prison 2024.
Ford wasn't Ford tough, was he?
Back then the nightly news consisted of Watergate and Vietnam. A troubling time for Americans.
I didn't care much about it then, I was 13.
I'm still waiting for the release of the killing of JFK, which should have been released (in total) 50 years after his death.
Mother Brain Trump's antics and his coup attempt make Nixon look like a boy scout.
Wow! In hindsight, over 30 minutes of word salad and lies. This did not age well.
You just proved that you know nothing of history. How do I know? I was there.
@@midnightreader84Are you kidding??? Nixon was caught covering up the scandal. Yet had the gall to go on TV and lie.
A grand jury named him an indicted co-conspirator. Nixon accepted Ford's pardon which is an admission of guilt.
So what if you were there. That doesn't change history.
@@KaiHuang-qo6tj This is established history, so I don't know what useless point you're trying to make. The history of the Watergate burglary and other illegal acts by Nixon's men is well known. It took two years from June 1972 to August 1974 (when Nixon resigned) for it to finally be resolved. Yes, Ford pardoned Nixon for his crimes, an ignominious thing to do. You might want to read All the President's Men by Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein, one of many books. You are ranting about known crimes Nixon committed.
😂😂😂😂😂

Its really weird to share this speech, without the context of what we now know...
This speech is full of every degree of dishonest communication from half truths to outright lies, being intentionally vague, speaking in the third person about scenes he was a first person witness to, or participator in, and on and on...
The whole schtick "we have got to find out" when he already damn well knew and was actively engaged in a coverup. This speech makes use of every manner of obfuscation of the truth.
So, yeah, its weird to share it without some fact-checking.
If you already know the facts, though, its a good example of all the many ways dishonest people flood you with bullsh*t, and hope you dont know how to swim.
I guess nearly everyone knows now, but if you didn't, you might watch this and think, "he seems like a pretty decent guy caught in an awkward situation."
