Hey MM automotive what do you love the most petrol or diesel in term of power factor.
Specially in bigger engine like 3500-5000cc engine.

The petrol gear box is in DS but in diesel only D....is it different?
No, it's still same, when you press kickdown pedal
DS is faster at less 1 sec.

@MM Automotive , there a couple of things to consider with this video
1. the 535i has the gearbox in D/S , and it is a newer car . 75.000 km vs 240.000 km like the 535d has.
2. the temperature where those things were conducted was not optimal , because you need under 15 degrees Celsiul for good accurate measurements for both cars.
3. both car are on Sport plus suspension , but not in sport gearbox

If you want to compare two cars, keep the conditions equal, km difference difference in gear shifts very important details at high speeds
Both are automatics, so the car shift at the best possible rpm for engine type inside.
I know that because I drive one. And I tried few different engines in F10/F11
Diesel only revv till 5k whereas petrol upto 7k easy ! How will gear shifts be equal?
@@rahuldogra diesel engines have lower rpm vs petrol engines. Diesel engine have most of the torque between 1500rpm to 3500rpm while petrol engine have torque higher up the rev rage, 3000 to 6500rpm. Hope that makes sense. That's why the petrol shift at a higher rpm.

Yes, diesel has a lot more torque over the petrol engine
@@robbieshaft but still lose why?
@@ilqar887 it’s heavier and has less revs to use
@@ilqar887 at the end, with both cars running very sophisticated 8speed automatic transmissions, the torque is not really relevant for the outcome. The power is what counts, and here on paper they are both at around 310HP. However, the petrol is usually somewhat underrated on power. It‘s probably more horsepower than the diesel, if only little more. And the diesel is slightly heavier. On the other hand, if you like to drive lazy and not use the high revs, you feel quicker in the diesel which has the power at a lower engine speed. Also it’s less thirsty. But the sound is not as racey. Both engines are brilliant. For a purchasing decision, it is important to look at total running cost including taxes, insurance and fuel, as well as maintenance. Also, local politics can have an effect on market value which makes a 535d in Germany less expensive due to Diesel gate and fear of diesel ban in cities.

PETROL D sport diesel D

535d mode d
petrol went ahead from 150 km/h bcs diesel went close to redline where it cuts power still the petrol one has like 200 nm less and that is quite some power advantage for the diesel but the diesel it’s more laggy. if the petrol had like 600 nm as the diesel would produce more than 500 hp. if the diesel would have 400 nm as the petrol would produce 100 hp less that’d be like 200 hp aprox.
Diesel would win on xdrive bcs xdrive makes full advantage of the extra torque.
Power is all about torque + speed (revs). Diesel cars achieved max torque at about 2500-3000 rpm and alowly begin to decline... While petrol car have less, but more constantly torque till end. Its just physics. When you reving high, horse power and total rpm (revs) is most important. Sometimes some diesel cars have a bad torque curve at top high revs, while other cars can have the same torque at 3000 rpm, but lower at 4500 and etc...

I believed that 535d is a bit faster. You should do a rolling race from 50 km/h. But then again, the petrol engine is turbocharged, so the turbodiesel loses its upper hand.
Not necessary, on paper maybe yes but in real world it depends on how healthy is the entire engine with all his components. For example a loaded dpf will pull down engine performances.
